As a Bronco fan he is absolutely right. EVERY SINGLE PLAY was like "pulling teeth". You know how every team has a few simple plays to get them like 4-5 yards. We didn't have those. At the half way point of the season we set and NFL record for delay of game of penalty's. He'd call plays with like 8 seconds left on the play clock.
We all know that but did Peyton have to punch down? All I hear is an excuse to fall back on if he fails this year

As a Denver fan who had to sit through that dumpster fire of a season, I not only like what he said, Im happy he said it! It was clear that the major issue on the team was coaching. I've never seen a Denver team that undisciplined. So many penalties, so many outburst and no rhythm on O.

Still wasn't in the locker room. Its a message to the whole organization, including russell. That last year was a abomination, which it was. Clark has always been salty about denver, always gets in his feelings when he has to speak about them.
Payton was right about what he said though, those first two games before Hackett basically allocated clock management to one of the guys on his staff was some of the most horrendous decision making I’ve seen from a coach. I mean the fans were literally counting down the play clock because the Broncos couldn’t do it themselves.
Circle the game between the Broncos and Jets!
As a Broncos fan who endured all 15 of the games under Hackett and had Christmas RUINED last season, I appreciate what Sean Payton had to say.

I hope SP gets this team right. He was absolutely correct in his assessment of the Broncos last season. It was 1 of the worst things I had the displeasure of experiencing. I'm a Broncos fan
Yeah, but again, We would like to use the word "class" less to the ones we don't like, so we have to keep that same energy across the board. His message was classless. And I don't see how you change a culture when you have another grown man's name or his past performance coming out of your mouth. They say shut up and dribble well, keep that same energy, and he needs to shut up and coach and stay away from the teams past politics.
It’s the broncos 😂 come on
Even if they're bad again, they can't be worse than what they were last year. They have to be better by default.
@@TheRealPlanetFaz As the saying goes "they can only impress a this point"
Facts bro
I actually love sean Payton comments about last year team
The Broncos hired a position coach to be a head coach and wonder why they failed last year. That's on the GM right there.
Yup, and now GM George Paton has virtually no power
And Sean called out the GM and the President as well. Both who are still with the team…
@brite1217 Yep, the gm who has made nothing but mistakes since he got here. Sean Payton I'd basically gm and coach now. And the owners were definitely aware he was going to do this, it's an interesting way to relieve pressure off the players but also have high expectations. We'll see how it works out
@@aaronmckinney2583 we will have to see. I’m honestly trying not to get too excited about this season. After last season it’s hard even with Peyton to get too excited. I think some do what he said was aimed at us as fans honestly…
@brite1217 Yeah I agree, as a fan it's great to know he sees just how terrible it was last year. I keep hearing great things about ota's and training vamp so far but I can't let myself have hope yet lol
Boy Sean Payton better get this team to the playoffs because if he doesn’t I’m gonna come back look at these quotes and laugh Sean should’ve just dismissed last season and focused on this season even though what he said was pretty much right but everybody blamed Russell Wilson for all the problems and didn’t focus on the fact that the dude was the most sacked quarterback last year They didn’t run the ball as well as they could have and the head coach look like he was in over his head
My whole family is trans. I’m the only survivor
He got sacked the most cuss the o-line gave absolutely 0 fucks about protecting a guy who doesn’t even sit in the Locker room with his teammates before the game. Got what he deserved.
So you acknowledge that he was right about it all but you’re going to trash him anyway?
As a broncos fan I don’t care about the playoffs. The broncos were embarrassing last year
You can't expect the man to turn it around in one season
Week 5: Jets vs Broncos. Game on.
IF Russell Wilson bounces back it validates everything Sean Payton said about Hackett and shows why there was an unprecedented move of a coach burying another coach which you never see in sports. It's Sean Payton saying this coach was so bad he literally tarnished the image of a HOF level QB in ONE SEASON. Russell Wilson had the 2nd most TDs in NFL history for a Qb's first 10 years in the league and he really didn't get anything close to All-Pro level skill players until the last couple of those years. And he even was #1 in the league in TDs from 2017-2020 after Beast Mode and LOB. But the Broncos were so bad last year that ppl were literally questioning his HOF credentials.
That’s why Sean Payton should’ve been hired last year. Duuuuuuuuh🤪
Yeah we all know that already. But did he have to say it again? He is consider one of the great coaches so why he punching down?
Wilson was regressing at the Seahawks has nothing to do with Hack
@@kh894 eeeeeeeeeeeeh👋
Wilson had been regressing for years in quality of play (don't just look at stats), on top of it even if Payton turns it around this year, it's a completely different circumstance. Russ was full diva mode last year... if payton had come in then with authoritarianism Russ and his entourage would have clashed heavily, because Russ's whole desire to leave seattle was so he could do things his way instead of Carroll's way.
I love that the jets and broncos play week 5
I couldn’t believe the first two games from the broncos last year. He’s absolutely right
As a broncos fan I 100% stand will Sean Payton making these comments, watched every single game and it was so hard to do, it was like pulling teeth to get yards let alone tds. It was absolutely awful coaching at every level
Week 5 gonna be good ya Jabronis
Sean Payton had every right to say what he said because everyone else was scared to say it. He was pissed off looking at how bad the broncos was last year because now he has to “fix” it and be judged based upon how much he “fixes” it. Hackett has people skewed in their views of Wilson most importantly to the point people attacked Wilson personally. Hackett was atrocious and deserves major criticism for being one of the worst HC’s in nfl history
You’re wrong. Just because everyone is scared to say it don’t mean it’s right for you to say it. There is a reason why no one said it and it’s because we all know he did a bad job. Don’t need to kick him while he is down too. It’ll just make you look worst. Also, he didn’t have to fix the broncos. He CHOOSE to fix the broncos. He KNEW what he was signing up for.
@@johnnyvansguard869most people are shifting the blame towards Wilson, and not enough goes to Hackett. From preseason game1 of last year, he looked out of his depth, and it never got any better.
As someone who has loved Football his entire life and The NFL his entire, life and no I am not a Broncos Fan, I agree with what Sean Payton said. The Broncos were a 3-Ring Circus last Season and that had to be one of the worst seasons in Denver Broncos History. That team was historically bad.
Hes already building in excuses for next year. The organization blamed the consequences of the Seahawks heist on the broncos and the consequences of the worst contract in NFL history on Hackett
@@PatrickRoy30 Hackett got the most criticism out of any one for what happened with the Broncos
He’s completely right. That’s a coach you want, no nonsense and will keep the team in check, we wanna win games not trend on social media. I’m so glad we finally have a great coach
I was sick of hearing all last year the issue was Russell Wilson. I saw the bad coaching. The disrespect of the other players towards Russell. Ownership paid Russell. He’s not going anywhere. It’s Sean’s job to clear out all the mess and bring in coaches and players who are on board with his agenda and Russell as the QB. Denver is going to be a play off team this season. Colorado bring in the heavy hitters to bring respect back to CU football with Deion and now Denver with Sean. There will be some great football being played this year in the state of Colorado.
Yes, Sean Payton lacked tact speaking about Hackett who's truly a nice guy. But productivity and results are priority #1. Hackett set the broncos back under Hackett's lack of leadership. Russ wasn't the problem. Hackett was by allowing Russ to do whatever he wants. Hackett was the issue with how clueless our team looked on offense run by a supposed offensive guru.
As a Bronco's fan for my whole life.... I have ZERO issues with what coach said. Last year was an embarrassment. HACKett made me miss Joseph and Fangio for God sake. It was one of the worst coaching displays ever. Starting week 1. Hes not wrong. Fck class. Fck being nice. He wants to win and dammit so do the fans!
Sean is letting Russell know he has his back. The owners want to know that Sean has Russell’s back.
Sean needs to shut the trap and prove it on the field. All talk. RC and Harry Douglas are both 100% correct.
Finally, somebody has the Totestatal fortitude to tell it like it is. Sean Payton is a no frills, no nonsense Coach. Good For Him.
Totestatal fortitude? Even if it's wrong, I'd keep it.

Thank you. That's a Hall of Fame move right there.
This was a great debate. One of the better ones on first take. I can see everyone’s side honestly
Sean Payton is doing it right. Letting every single person who cares know that there is a new sheriff in town. Talk yo ish coach just gotta ball to back it up & make it valid. I think he turns Denver back into a winning football team. Time will tell
Sean Payton knows there is no fixing Russ.
LOl. When Wilson has a Pro Bowl season let's come back and discuss this.
@@jamesdavis8731 He won't. Sean Peyton isnt magically going to fix a fundamentally flawed QB. You have to run a specific style offense for Russ to be useful. He doesnt see\use the middle of the field. Stares down Wrs, misses reads fishing for big plays. Pete Carrol hid his flaws behind a run heavy attack and D. Heavy play action\trickery for completions\big plays. Missing reads to scramble didnt hurt the Team back when he was too slippery, it resulted in moving chains anyway. However with diminished athleticism his lack of IQ and polish is obvious. SeaHawks fans knew this.

Go look into how bad Hacket really was bro. It was HORRENDOUS
RC doesn’t have a clue. He spoke negativity on Russell to promote his new podcast. RC has no integrity. Also, RC & his podcast partners spoke negatively of Brandon Marshall. It’s the pot calling the kettle black. Sean Payton did this to put the team on his back. He wants to shift all the negative commentary to himself. It’s a smart move to make before the season starts.
@sharronward4748
RC isn't a coach. Coaches don't belittle others in the fraternity unless they have a personal beef. Sean Payton is being petty. He could motivate his team without bringing the old coach, by name, into it.

Those are some accurate but BOLD words. He better not have a season like Hackett. This honestly didn’t need to be said but I’m still cool with it.
He must have been really upset at what he had to deal with when taking over! he’s probably thinking how this will be a hard fix! I mean who’s arguing that they sucked last year! so who cares if he says it.
I wonder if this could also be a deliberate strategy to put the pressure on him and take it off Wilson. Would explain why the take was so bold and he’s punching down, because now he has to back it up, and he’s prepared to do so.
Steven A. Is on point these other two need to take a seat.
I am confused… Was Sean Payton wrong? He said what everyone here in Denver has been thinking. Take the “he is a little man” just means RC is soft.

It was well deserved. It was an infuriating year for broncos fans
Been a Broncos fans for 25 years. I’ve never seen such an awful season.. EVER. The stadium wasn’t even selling out like it usually does on home games. Denver is a football town through and through. It was EMBARRASSING
It’s the lead in question that cracks me up!!! Depending on who says the hot take, the lead in question is “Was it Fair?” Instead of “Should he apologize for his comments?”
Sean Payton has nothing to gain by those comments because it would be better for him as the coach to let Russ take all the blame that way it would be less scrutiny on him as a coach if things go south. The fact that he is making so much of it about coaching says how confident he is that things can be turned around and how he's not hiding from accountability/responsibility starting with himself. And if the Broncos do in fact turn it around, the amount of old takes exposed about Russell Wilson would be historic. And it would be an ugly thing in history for ppl to have to explain why they buried a guy after one bad season with such a bad coach when that QB after their first 10 years in the league had 2nd most wins and TDs in NFL history.
Guys, as a Denver fan, there are so many other details that aren’t discussed at the national level that fall on Hackett and George Paton (Broncos GM). Example: Melvin Gordon -just google it lol
I don’t know how no one blames the Offensive Coordinator!
Because Hackett WAS basically the offensive coordinator. It was Hackett's offense. It was absolutely brutal, non-sensical play calling. It was almost a total lack of leadership on offense. It was a HC try to find a square piece into a round hole. It was awful.
Always impressed how smart these guys are.
100% agree with Ryan Clark on this one. Hackett is on NY now, why are you worried about what the jets are doing
