I can't say I had an amazing education, but I recall being taught most of these things. The problem, for me, was that I wasn't ready to learn them. I remember being taught time management when I was given my first school planner in 6th grade. Being taught to fail in chemistry and physics in high school when my experiments didn't go as planned. Being taught how to budget in Career Exploration in 8th grade. Health was covered in every Phys Ed class I was required to take.
The problem I see is not that we aren't taught these things, its that we aren't using the tools when we're learning them. This goes to parenting. Let your kids meal plan, prepare meals, create a budget, and be required to stick to it. Give them the freedom to manage their own time instead of micromanaging their days. A lot of these life skills were taught to me at school, but the practical use was to be done at home.
Every channel says schools should do this or that. Why is everyone pushing everything onto the school system? PARENTS need to teach their children these things!!!!!!
I completely agree.
Cuz the parents don' t wanna take responabilty.
Blame blame blame.
It's easier to say "yes" to a child 100 times than have to say "no" once and have to explain why.
Teachers are afraid to say "no" cuz they don't wanna deal with the parents.
Short term: easy results.
Long term?
Not so much.
Many of this things probably should be taught in school but these are the things that parents should be teaching their kids. The difficult part is that most parents don't know these things either.
This is probably the best channel I’ve discovered this year 👌🏾💯
I'm in agreement with Dave Ramsey on this one that schools don't teach enough about proper money management. Simply living below your means and making sure to NEVER take out $100,000+ in student loan debt. Plenty of parents that didn't tell their kids NO.
My three favorite channels: Tae Kim, Stock Brotha, & How Money Works. Make my week complete! 🔥 🔥 🔥
My human! Same over here 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
When I was a têen in Canada in the 90s, we actually had a course called "Consumer Education".
The only problem was that a lot of the topics (debt, loans, mortgages etc.) were over our heads at the time.
Our minds were overrun by our teenage problems: hormones, parents, money (or lack thereof), the future and the most important...
Caring what everyone else thinks of us.
Another great video!
So good- I was taught none of these things and learned them the hard way
Thank you.
This is So So good. TQ Tae. Keep up wht great work. Cheers.
Brilliant, thank you!
I think that it's mainly parents job to teach their kids how to manage themselves, their emotions and intentions to goal. The school and teachers either don't have this kind of education themselves or they cannot dedicate time into those subjects.
Best video yet, Tae. These are all habits + skills of high performing individuals.
Agree with many of these skills. Love the channel and format! Thanks for posting.
Ruthlessly Focus! I love that - thank you
Thanks for the video! A lot of this I had to learn from the school of hard knocks. 😂😟 I would add conflict resolution. Maybe a subset to communication.
Another great upload Tay! One of the best channels on youtube.
I think it depends on what you study. If you study engineering, you are required to learn all these things. If you don't, you will never make it as an engineer. Managing stress, being willing to fail and immediately get back up and try again, handling unknown variables, managing your time, energy, and resources, and of course, managing other people.
Great vid!
great advice
Great info 👍 👌 👏
This video is facts 👌🏾💯
I feel No10 (manage health) and No 6 (manage money) should be #1 and 2.
Agree with everything except the title. I would prefer: Things that school doesn‘t teach you so parents should. 😉 Most of these are lessons I am teaching my girls, because they are too important to trust teachers with it.
All of these can be learned in school. We just ignore it.
Is that a David O. McKay quote?😂
😢
Flex for us!! Lets see the guns brother!!
Thank you , I like your content very much even though sometimes you speak fast hahaha I almost can't catch up clearly on what you just said. [I will try better + I'm your subscriber from Thailand ]
To be fair, did credit scores exist when you were a kid?
You are an INTJ .
Those dont work for me. I defer to the Bible which has real wisdom.
😂😂😂. A book that has be rewritten mute them a dozen times
I'd add basic car maintenance. So many adults don't even know how to change a flat tire, it's so sad
