A lot of good points here. However, I think that sifting through content online is a new way of learning that can be, in large part, a new replacement for reading books. It's possible to encounter a lot more info and food for thought in a shorter time online than if you sit down and read something in hard copy. A lot of us read a lot more than we might realize; additionally, input can be audiovisual, and many people learn best that way.
Nice video. I've thought about a lot of these before and this is a great reminder and good insight. Some great goals for 2024. I was excited to get my email habit in order early in my career (in my 20's) ...the rest of these though... can use some work
I find scrolling a mindful practice...learn something new everyday...surprised at all the new pathways it's led me down. Kind of like exploring. Doesn't much matter to me if it doesn't contribute to my getting ahead. Curiosities abound. And the awareness of them are enough.
But we don’t all get the same amount of time in the day. Some of us are parents, some of us care for our parents, some have health issues. That whole “we have the same amount of time” is such a horseshit trope.
Hey Tae - great advice on financial planning and well rounded life hacks! Is there a way to Zoom Tae? I'm a Professor in Psychology and Philosophy...would love to chat.
Tae, I love your content. It is all so well put and has a wealth of gold nuggets of information. I have a request. Can you create pauses after your points and maybe annunciate the sentences with more emphasis, a but spread out (slower)? I think it would really help me to keep the info and reflect a bit before moving on to the next points. Btw, I love how you have added texts for the points. That has been helpful! Thank you so much for your videos! They bring perspective and I love the focus on self improvement!
Thanks for clarifying "multi-taking". The brain can only do one task at a time. It irks me when people refer to MT as a skill you learn. It's a total fabrication.
I am constantly moving and looking for productive things to do. I only work three days a week. On my four days off I look for things to do around the house. Most of my time is spent cleaning though. I try to go to the gym 4x a week, grocery shop, yard work, help cook, vacuum, dishes, clean the cars, go biking and if time permits watch a movie.
HYSA is simply a savings account that pays a relatively high interest rate. You can open one at most banks. This is opposed to a checking account, where most have no interest payments, and normal savings accounts which may have lower interest rates, which means less money for you.
Multi-tasking - the same people who are against it advocate for walk meetings - ironic. It’s all about how far away the brain regions are for the tasks that you try to do at the same time. For example, cleaning vegetables while listening to Audiobook is much time efficient than doing them sequentially. Generalizing when generalization doesn’t fit miss-leads people to waste time.
Love the video, try lo fi hip hop as low background music the whole video next time. The sax music was distracting. Or no music, your video is engaging enough to hold attention without sound
Hi Tae 😀😀 , I'm a BIG fan of yours! Please tell me how I would invest 1,100,000 .I was going to lump sum 500k and DCA 20k each month for 30 months in S&P 500 index fund or do you have better strategy. I'm begging you to PLEASE give me advice? Thank you very much

"Stop mindless scrolling" Me: But that's how I ended up here!
I think one of my things is watching UA-cam
Same!
@@youtubemom497that’s multi-tasking and it’s forbidden too!
@@youtubemom497 no I need to see the visuals
Then again I’ve learned so much on UA-cam it’s not even a contest when it comes to anything else.
Same
Absolutely correct with few exceptions, you can only do 1 thing at a time, no matter how much needs to be done. This is good advice, rarely heard.
You should never worry about what other people think about your hair … it is awesome!
If You Are A Male Just Shave Your Head. I Shaved My Head And Have No Regrets.
Good advice about scrolling and email. On a side note, you can save a lot of money by using the Public Library 😊
Found you from a podcast I watched the other day, and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite financial mindset channels I've found

When I need to get boring paperwork done I put on fast paced classical music. I stay focused and energized.
I'm enjoying this channel a lot. Thank you!
I love your video. It's liberating to hear my ideas confirmed.

Free education, thank you for sharing your ideas! Thank you you tube for free entertainment and life lessons
Love Tae Kim's contents and his delivery. I'm surprised he doesn't have a million subscribers

Indeed 😊

I know this is off topic but, your hair is always Great!
Tae,
I love your content. It is all so well put and has a wealth of gold nuggets of information.
I have a request. Can you create pauses after your points and maybe annunciate the sentences with more emphasis, a but spread out (slower)? I think it would really help me to keep the info and reflect a bit before moving on to the next points.

Awesome vid. Definitely worth watching 👍🏾
Good video Tae. Thanks

Social Media and politics are both massive wastes of time.

Hi Tae Kim. Like your content so much
Love the video, Tae. Showing vulnerability and a few decent jokes in there were thoroughly enjoyed 😂
8:16 starts good..then goes unless you can get yourself out of the toilet, please don't bother daddy!! LOL 😂
6:12 was actually so easy to do! But I guess I'm fortunate that my full name is "I Love Financial Tortoise". Sometimes life just blesses you, idk
I found this channel by mindless scrolling...
lol same here
but now u can stop mindless scrolling 🙌🏻
I found your channel while mindlessly scrolling! 😮
Could you make a video about high yield savings account? seems like they're popping up everywhere
HYSA is simply a savings account that pays a relatively high interest rate. You can open one at most banks. This is opposed to a checking account, where most have no interest payments, and normal savings accounts which may have lower interest rates, which means less money for you.
I use multi-tasking for eating while watching videos. It would not be fast to eat first and then watch.
Next up: How to invest in your hair
The "computer age" has turned many people into zombies. Thanks for the "wake up" call.
@TaeKimFinancialTortoise : doom scrolling is bad for you
Me: But I found this video via doom scrolling 😂😂😂
Great video, excellent actionables.
When are you going to put these insights in a book?
Hi
Tae, you have righteous hair. People are just jealous.
Multi-tasking - the same people who are against it advocate for walk meetings - ironic. It’s all about how far away the brain regions are for the tasks that you try to do at the same time. The last three really lined up with my life lol
you can't waste time, time is always here
Cool hair
The clutter thing is a big one for me 😂
are you saying baroque music?
#1 time waster is …… youtube!
Whats your suggestion for non distractive music?
Baroque music
I really like Lofi or just coffee shop music. It's relaxing and not distracting.😊
UA-cam ads waste my time everyday
“Daddy! I fell in the toilet!”
I needed this video 😂
Multi tasking is really impossible unless you’re doing laundry while doing something else. 😂
He starts with number one as I’m LITERALLY scrolling through my RSS feed and listening to the video. 😂
Make a video on things we can do instead of scrolling. 10 things
Always 10!! Can I have 11 instead
Love the video, try lo fi hip hop as low background music the whole video next time. The sax music was distracting. Or no music, your video is engaging enough to hold attention without sound
Me watching this video while working and cooking at the same time 😅
#11 watching Tae's listicle videos 🤭
Im 10/10! Oh wait...
Yeah, right, don't loose your kids, i got it!
first!
Assumed haircuts would be on the list, Tae
Mindless scrolling got me to this video….
UA-cam, Twitter, 9gag
Listening manifestation videos on UA-cam
clutter...ugh. 2024 decultter time!
This should have been titled how technology wastes your time.
Before computers and cell phones you didn't need a fork list you spent time with friends and just did.
Your volume goes up and down. Not sure if it’s the way you talk. Otherwise I find your content helpful
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

No doubt, my youtube time is usually research time
Bobo, Yobo?
NOT having a spouse on the same page with me is my #1 time waster.
Lol get yourself out of the toilet 😄
Wasting your time on youtube...
Watching this video wastes my time
