I have this... and it's the WORST. My tire carrier swings out if I don't tie it down the handle. The pin always pops out while I'm driving. SUPER dangerous and really just a pain the the butt at the end of the day. I really wanted to love this, but I need to get a different one for safety reasons.
I installed on my Jeep JY, but it will not latch. The latch hole is too low, so i can't slide the latch into the hole. If i add the spacers to bring it up, it still doesn't line up enough to latch and i also am unable to open my great tailgate. Without the spacers in the female side, i can open my tailgate, but it sits even lower. Is there a way to adjust the pivot shaft down or change the angle so i can close the tire carrier? It needs to come down a about 1/2". :/
Thanks for watching! You could definitely modify this tire carrier to fit your specific application, that being said it is made *just for 1987-2006 Wranglers.* So the amount of elbow grease needed to make this fit your rig may vary. -Zach
Can I install the mounting part of the tire carrier onto the bumper BEFORE mounting the bumper? I bought both and will install both so instead of working in those tight spaces I think we can do these steps before mounting the bumper (minus the adding swing out carrier)
I was looking for the same part and I contacted Smittybilt who directed me to 4 Wheel Parts. Was going to cost another $150 for the kit that includes the pivot shaft. :(

What about the 3rd brake light?
I have this bumper and tire carrier on my TJ. No problems with it.
You make really good install videos. I wish the music wasn't so loud and distracting though.
Is the tire carrier supposed to rattle and shake on the pivot shaft? It does't feel snug around the pivot shaft when I put it on.
So what about your brake light ?🤔

Same here. Driving on I-25 in Denver and the offing tire carrier swung open. BIG safety issue @smittybilt!
I'll never understand why all five tires don't match. Also I don't understand why you didn't clean the break light area after removing it?
Jonas Clawson that’s my biggest pet peeve too. Just buy 5 wheels/tires. Looks so stupid with a factory tire back there.
for how much i can buy the bumper with the tire carrier? and does both comes togeather?

Solid informative video. Could this be used as a universal tire swing?

i would have cleaned it up also but more important the brake light was not reinstalled. Will it mount back do you need an adapter

Anyway I can purchase the post that mounts to the bumper itself?
Unfortunately, we do not sell those separately but Smittybilt might have replacement parts! -Merideth
Where can I get a new pivot shaft for this combo?

Please lose the background music! Its obnoxious, we are not here for a concert, rather to watch an install.
Thanks for the feedback!
Anyone else have clearance issues with aftermarket door hinges for the back door?
