He has a niche market. People who speaks in english and are foodies. You can be a foodie but do not want to hear english speaking content creators then you won’t want to watch Erwan. I don’t think he’s underrated.
His videos will never go out of style, i go back to it all the time to refresh on how to cook stuff, i like it because he uses fresh ingredients majority of the time
Tamarillos - when I was a kid here in New Zealand, we called them tree tomatoes. We would cut them in half, sprinkle sugar on top, and scoop the flesh out with a teaspoon. Yummy! 😊
I'm actually in the middle of cookin sinigang for my family right now(still simmering for another 20m or so) Mine is a combo of pork belly, swai, and baby cuttlefish, what I love about cookin sinigang is that I can show my fiance and his family Filipino cooking and connect with my heritage like Chef John had also mentioned. Makes me especially proud when my Fiance and his family say they love the food
I just realized your episodes consist of recipes made in a variety of ways. Best part, under 30 minutes or less. Great way to catch viewers attention. Simple and unique good sir. Stay safe and healthy out there 🖖🏼
It's hard to mess up cooking sinigang. But extra points to you for being resourceful to try out other possible souring agents. Yours wins the best presentation too. The broth has the best color of the three. As for taste, I can only imagine. I like all protein versions. Patis is de rigueur in enhancing the taste of the sinigang dish. It brings out the umami flavor of the protein used. Best patis brands are MegaChef (with 30°N designation), and 3 Crabs (with °40N). *The notations 30°N and 40°N are measures of nitrogen content (i.e., protein), and are good indications of the richness of the umami flavor. The two brands mentioned are the most expensive patis in the market. 3 Crabs is twice as costly as MegaChef, but I find the latter just as good and tasty.
I'll probably cook sinigang tomorrow, but first need to buy kangkong and manggang hilaw.. Thanks for this "sinigang gang" video, I got new perspective on how to cook sinigang in different ways. 👍👍👍
Recently I've been estranged from Filipino food after having a bad culinary experience during my first visit to the PI. However, the sinigangs in this vid have reminded me how vibrant our food can actually be. Ima try out the pork sinigang today and add my own twists on it as well.
The struggle of Filipinos living abroad. We are so lucky that the ingredients are accessible and there are a lot of varieties to choose from here in the PH.
I craved and just made sinigang yesterday! Only used what was readily available, nothing fancy; Sinigang mix, onions, tomatoes and spinach. Browned the pork chops first. Add water, tomatoes, onions and sinigang mix. Let it simmer. Add spinach a minute before serving. Et voila! Nothing fancy, fast pork chops sinigang! Made by cook Lurhen😛, Pinay-French Canadian here!
I make my beef sinigang almost exactly like chef Tom Cunanan. Winters are brutally cold here in Canada so sinigang is a life saver but finding fresh tamarind is almost impossible, at least where I live. One time, I didn't realize I didn't have limes for my sinigang but I didn't want to go outside because it was snowing. I had left-over tamarind puree from making pad Thai so I thought, hey what if I use tamarind puree instead. It turned out beautifully and use it regularly now.
I usually sautee the essentials: garlic, onion and tomatoes, then I'll add the meat (pork, chicken, beef) and I'll add some fish sauce and hugas bigas. Let it boil for sometime until fork tender. Add the tamarind concoction (or sinigang mix). Taste and adjust the seasoning according to your preference. Slowly add in the vegetables, let it become soft a little. Boil some more and done.
I’ve always wanted to know how to cook sinigang with actual tamarind. My family has always used the flavor packets. Can’t wait to try and make all these different types. Beautifully done video!
Mouth watering sinigang! So funny since Saturday I was thinking to make sinigang and opened you tube and there you go your sinigang recipes. Last Saturday I went to farmers market and found kamote tops which we use in sinigang back in the Philippines. I will try it with grilled side pork. Yummy!! Thanks for the recipe. Continue inspiring us with easy to follow recipes. BTW Congratulations to the new mom and dad!
I've been craving for Pork Sinigang for 3 days and also requesting this to my father but for now we are going to have Sinigang na bangus.. I hope it will satisfy my cravings
Loved this format with the guest chefs and different formulations! It was filmed really well - the angles and the sound etc. I’ll have to try this dish!
Nangasim tuloy ako. Ngayon gusto ko tuloy ng sinigang. Watching from Middle East. Kakatuwa manood ng video mo Erwan. I can’t hrlp but be glued. Sosyal po ng version nyo ng sinigang.. the pork belly i would do it but i will try it sa mami! 🙂☺️
Mama Sita v Knorr...the only way I've ever known how to make sinigang. 😂 Thanks for the inspo! I've only made it with pork bones, I shall have to try the seafood one I think!
Fun fact... I'm eating pork belly right now as I'm watching. I love pork belly no matter hows its cooked. I love to marinate them and pan fry. It's very simple and delicious 😋
Now ko lang naisip pwede nga pala ung tamarind na gamit ni tom.. hirap kasi humanap ng sinigang mix dito sa area ko.. madalas ko makita sa supermarket yang tamarind puree...
I remember eating sinigang with watermelon too which gives a sweet contrast to the sourness of the dish. It actually surprised me that it worked for me.
John Rivera looks like he has a lot of flavor in that an easy sinigang. Not sure if that's traditional but looks delicious wanna try it. Is it traditional?
Yes very good taste ang batwan with bangus and takway. Also sampalok na baboy na super asim. 👌😊😋 ( I try also gauva na sinigang at kamias it's good but not really same taste the sampalok and batwan. I mean yong sour/asim na lasa.)
Kuya Erwan try mo ang santol na sinigang sa bangus 👌 but in Visayas called sinabawan na a santol sa bangus or any kind you want ... yes I try also dahil marami sa amin it's good taste maasim din ang lasa pero my something siya 😊 basta try mo kung myroon santol sa lugar mo please please 🙏🙏🙏
I think, the beef ribs sinigang, made by Your Friend, is Much sumptuous. Bcuz, I know, any dish done by sauteing, enhances food. Except Adobo done without sauteing is indeed 101% guaranteed aLready. What you did, Erwan, Looks good, too. The sour fruit you use maybe taste Like Bayabas with its sweetness. Wow, Your Aussie-Pinoy Friend Seafood Sinigang Looks good, too. Thanks and Keep HeaLthy 🍄🥦
Seriously, Erwan the 1st cook I was surprise reading the captions 😅🤣😂🤣 it reads synagogue for (sinigang), rats (radishes), tamarind (tamaron) Palayok (Paulo York)😅🤣😂 So hilarious.
Makes me think why it's not the Philippines national food instead of adobo. Looking forward for some short documentary from you @Erwan for Sinigang vs. Adobo as the Philippines National Food. It will surely be so historical, cultural and fun :)
I wish Nico was there to rant and joking around 🤣 but I guess Nico has been so busy being disciplinarian for Pochola 🤣 anyway, Erwan never fail to be informative and do the high quality vlog! Keep going Erwan and God bless to your beautiful family, keep safe! 💗💗
Winter, spring, and summer, & fall season, I always cooked sinigang. For the rhubarb you can make a simple dessert with oats, Brown sugar, butter tasty, Merci beaucoup, - Ottawa Canada
I really like my taro to be like almost mush but still pretty intact with its particles mixed in to the broth making it a bit thick so i add it pretty pretty early before every vegetables.
Why is that Erwan's content is so underrated. His content is superb and he explains things very well. Kudos to you Mr. Erwan.

Absolutely agree!
them souring agent: ripe tamarind, tamarind powder, tamarind puree, green camias, lemon, rhubarb, tamarillo
me souring agent: sinigang mix😅
Sinigang mix is easy but very unhealthy and full of preservatives. Better to use natural ingredients!
Mine is kamias..that came from our 40++ year old tree from our backyard..
Ano po ang rhubarb in tagalog?
@@rowenadiaz705 Rhubarita or Rhubarnah
guava works too
10:30 ah yes, no Filipino household is complete without a pot from a broken rice cooker.
Haha! Sayang to throw out.
it's an essential
So true. Lol every household has it. We have 3 in our house for different uses hahahaha
ah yes. yep. aha. correct.
Erwan Heussaff here in our house, we had tiny rice cooker while the other 3 big ones are for cooking dishes Hahahaha😂
Filipino Sinigang is the best whatever the ingredients are💗
Tamarillos - when I was a kid here in New Zealand, we called them tree tomatoes. We would cut them in half, sprinkle sugar on top, and scoop the flesh out with a teaspoon. Yummy! 😊

Now I'm craving for sinigang 💖🤦♀️
dinner? haha
same
This is what I call great collaborations on a dish beloved by Filipinos....Great job Erwan for showcasing Filipino talents/chefs around the world.

Hahah reusing the rice cooker pot as a cooking pot when the rice cooker breaks is such a Filipino (or probably Asian) trait.
It's hard to mess up cooking sinigang. But extra points to you for being resourceful to try out other possible souring agents. Yours wins the best presentation too. Ah that looks so good I can nearly taste it 🤤 Makes me miss Filipino food so much!
I'll probably cook sinigang tomorrow, but first need to buy kangkong and manggang hilaw.. Thanks for this "sinigang gang" video, I got new perspective on how to cook sinigang in different ways. 👍👍👍

That's how I call my kids, my Sinigang Gang! 😂 They grew up with this dish and they never get tired of it.
The struggle of Filipinos living abroad. We are so lucky that the ingredients are accessible and there are a lot of varieties to choose from here in the PH.
6:59 I'm loving the old rice cooker pot. Definitely Filipino.
I craved and just made sinigang yesterday!
Only used what was readily available, nothing fancy;
Sinigang mix, onions, tomatoes and spinach.
Browned the pork chops first. Add water, tomatoes, onions and sinigang mix.

This makes me crave sinigang - my most favorite filipino dish!!

What I love about sinigang is that you can use pork, fish ,beef or shrimp. Love the variety❤
I’ve always wanted to know how to cook sinigang with actual tamarind. My family has always used the flavor packets. Can’t wait to try and make all these different types. Beautifully done video!
Pork sinigang with gabi. And patis+calamansi+sili on side. Tas yung kanin mo nalulunod na sa sabaw. Sarap. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Calamsi also works. It's a good alternative. It makes the sinigang taste very very good!🤤❤
Using tamarind pulp block (available in thai food stores) is the best way in making sinigang... Kaysa gumamit ng powdered mix... Promise!
I'm in such an awe with chefs being able to touch hot foods like its nothing. That has got to be a super hero power

Wow! It's always interesting to see different take on a traditional Filipino dish!
The best sinigang for me is Sinigang na Bangus using Santol as souring agent. With lots of gabi the bomb!!
Am I the only one who doesn’t like garlic on my sinigang? 😅
Same here. And the first chef parang ginisa na sya hahahaha!
When we make meat sinigang we usually saitee it with garlic onion and ginger prior to pressure cooking it. But never when seafood sinigang.
nope. me too
I dont put garlic in my sinigang too
Neither I 😁
I'm here in the USA but sinigang is still one of my favorite Filipino dish 🥩🥬💚
Mama Sita v Knorr...the only way I've ever known how to make sinigang. 😂 Thanks for the inspo! I've only made it with pork bones, I shall have to try the seafood one I think!
