As a guy who smokes racks of ribs for hours and hours I wanted to say no to this vid but I stayed for the music and ended up thinking I'd try this but with "country style ribs" (pork shoulder cut into rib sized pieces). Thanks for sharing this.
The knife choice and cutting technique had me on edge during the whole video. At the end, still had all of the finger tips. Phew...😆 Although not a method I've used for ribs, I would try to make it.👍 Thanks for sharing and making my heart rate go up...😂
I always throw my ribs in a pan halfway covered in water, then finish them directly on the grill grate. So tender and falling off the bone it melts in your mouth. 😋
Don’t listen to all the arrogant nay sayers, that think everything needs to be BBQ’d 🙄& are too ignorant to realize other countries have recipes we know nothing about. This recipe looks great! Trying something different once in awhile is good for the soul.
A lot of people think that they are experts when it comes to cooking and that their way of making something is the only way, when food can be prepared in several different ways depending of where your from.
Love this recipe! Looks delicious and elegant. The salad looks healthy. For the pessimists negative people, my suggestion is: if you don’t have anything positive or constructive, better don’t say anything.
I don't know why people peel off that layer of connective tissue. It's pure collagen and helps repair the collagen in one's body. I always eat that, along with the cartilage. I'm 55 years old and all my joints are in perfect condition.
@@anml1969Oh, and because I eat stuff like this - collagen, connective tissue, gristle, fat, and especially the meat, I still look 40 and can still work circles around boys 30 years younger than me. I bowhunt and fish, but the bones is where the fountain of youth lies. Make yourself a nice bone broth, and you'll be amazed at its restorative benefits.
Those who smoke or grill ribs remove that membrane to permit smoke, spices and juices to make contact with that side of the rib meat. If it's left on, the ribs are essentially sealed on one side.
@@lastzeenuhhh, not really. I've smoked ribs like that for decades without taking off that membrane, and still came out mighty flavorful on both sides.
Ive never been able to understand why people boil ribs! You boil the flavor out and turn the meat to mush. Not sure about boiling and frying them, but no thanks. Ribs are made for smoking and BBQing without ever boiling. As for taking off the membrane, insert a steak knife under it, lift and pull it off. Works every time.
That looks like a deliciously different way to enjoy ribs. While I do like them grilled with a smokey tomato based sauce on them I also like to try different versions of them.
They did the same to our family, 46yrs, took my son off that crap, second opinion, turned beautiful, he is 54, no problems. Thank u University of Washington ❤️💯❤️
I think you need to try some Authentic Southern BBQ. The ONLY way to eat ribs of any kind that actually showcases the meat instead of a bunch of other ingredients is to cook them low and slow. I have NEVER heard of anyone pan frying ribs among the zillion other veggies added. They are put in a smoker with NO grease just allowed to cook for hours and hours. The only ingredient needed is BBQ sauce.
You do know ribs are eaten all around the world using many different recipes, right ? I mean yeah bbqed ribs are good but that's far from the only way to cook them.
A few years ago I moved to the South, well, it's sort of the South--northwest Arkansas--and have been enjoying ribs here more than I used to on the West Coast. I'm sure how it's done here is the best, but I'd be willing to try parboiling my ribs (as seen in this video), just to see if it makes 'em less greasy, and it may or may not turn out that that "new" taste is actually better. Probably I'd try a few, then add a greasy BBQ sauce to 'em? Who knows. Also, adding a breading to my ribs? No. That just seems wrong. I'll let somebody else do that, then try theirs. Probably never bread my ribs at home.
That boning knife and finger placement were scaring the hell out of me! Don't get me wrong folks, I love dry rubbed and smoked ribs n bbq ribs as much as the next guy, but my mom has been braising pork ribs pretty much like this except she doesn't roll them in flour, for about 60 years. I'll put them up against any other type of ribs for flavor and tenderness anytime. She leaves the silver skin on. Myself, I prefer to temove it.
Thanks for the extremely difficult and expensive way to make something that otherwise cooks itself. Looks delicious, but difficult and I think you put everything including the kitchen sink into the dish that would taste just as good with a bit of time and barbecue sauce.
You can also simply fry an egg and it’s delicious; but there’s plenty of more complicated and expensive ways to cook an egg that are well worth the time and expense.
Instead of boiling the ribs just to get the membrane off is simple... take a thin sharp knife and get under it to pull it up then grab it and pull..it comes right off..or you can make slits across the membrane and marinate them in a mixture of your seasoning ,Apple cider vinegar and beer refrigerated for at least 36 hours... Pull the ribs on the charcoal grill, hickory and mesquite wood and cook low and slow...talk trash with your buddies and have a beer or two... that's old school that has never failed...boiling,frying in butter and oil??? Not one ounce of homemade BBQ sauce... however I did like the slaw...
Basically ribs and coleslaw. The problem is the 25 ingredients you need to make this. I'll try and make the ribs and just throw some Jimmy's Coleslaw Dressing on the slaw. My mother-in-law used to make feather bones and sauerkraut the German way.
Boiling is for Chinese buffet and those with no skill. You NEVER use water on ribs for flavor and tenderness. Its slow and deliverate. Just like steak, you develop skill and patience.
I don't understand why ppl boil ribs and remove that part that keeps the ribs together. It even taste great with it when BBQed.🤦🏻🤔🤷🏻 No thanks I don't like boiled and fried ribs
As a guy who smokes racks of ribs for hours and hours I wanted to say no to this vid but I stayed for the music and ended up thinking I'd try this but with "country style ribs" (pork shoulder cut into rib sized pieces). Thanks for sharing this.
Sounds like a great idea. That coleslaw sure looks tasty. I’d just need some type of potato dish added to this to make it a real meal.
If you haven't hear that song before, you haven't watched many European cooking vids on youtube
That Stoopid repeating song is certainly maddening..
Looks delicious I’d definitely try it ❤❤
Excellent I will try it thank you, for those super chefs if you don't like it because your's is better, don't slam it until you try it!🙂👍

Idk how this guy has all his fingers in place and no band aids of any kind
Only reason I watched to the end 😂
Terrible moments.
I had to look away, absolute scary knife skills…
Knife had me curling my toes
It never hurts to have another rib recipe up your sleeve !
Very true but this ain't one of em!
IDK about the ribs, but that salad looks to be an excellent change up from regular Cole slaw.
I always throw my ribs in a pan halfway covered in water, then finish them directly on the grill grate. So tender and falling off the bone it melts in your mouth. 😋
I like fried ribs better than bbq. It’s like a pork chop but better.
Tried this exactly. Best ribs ever.
Here's a brilliant trick: fingers should be curled under (not splayed out) when slicing vegetables
Yes. And a better knife! Recipe looks interesting
Unless you want to add some blood…
The bandaid companies don't want you to know this one simple trick, but they can't stop you!
Guess the want a little color!!

Agreed, I just put a few nicks in it so the ribs don’t curl up.

Boil the Country style ribs....... NOT a rack😋😋 you don't even need teeth 😁🤣🤣
I wish it worked for me Everytime. But then again it's me . If anything can give me a hard time and make me work harder it will lol

once you get one end up grab with a paper towel and pull. Too slippery with a bare hand.

Looks delicious, definitely will try it
Lookin forward to this recipe! Something different! Thank you.
Ribs and coleslaw looked 💣
First, I could eat that salad everyday! Do you ever add poppy seed to it? I will try these ribs made this way. Everything looks so yummy!

I’ve eaten my share of BBQ’d ribs and no other way but would love to try this recipe. It looks delicious1
Thats what i always do. Pork is so fatty, boiling definitely takes care of that best ever completion for delish ribs ❤
While this may be good....I'll stick with BBQ ribs over charcoal! Or, in the winter, slow cooked in the crock pot....
Excellent.Thank You for sharing
I would try it. Looks good. Removing the fat makes it tender.
Excelente receta, se ve muy rico. Gracias
It's a beautiful thing to behold!

Boil ribs. Then soak in bbq sauce and cook bbq or in the oven. Delicious. My family had a very big steakhouse and that’s how they cooked them.
I’m planning to prepare this recipe for my kids when they come to visit me.
Live the way u are cooking the ribs great job 😋🎉

You're making my ancestors cry.
Like wise his ancestors do the same watching us Americans drown everything in bbq sauce
The par-boiling to get rid of the skin is nice but could never do ribs this way.
It's a stew!!
I quite like it
Healthy to an extent with the cold slaw
Breaks down the fat !!
My dad loved to BBQ, his mato never (in the 60's 70's the term was " PAR BOIL") YOUR RIBS.
AS THE PERSON STATED YOU BOIL OUT THE FLAVOR ! 😊
In a restaurant, it’s pretty tough to do cause of time constraints but looks great
Now I see, my mom loved fried ribs and she did boil a bit.
Floured and fried in a little oil not added to to any type sauce.
This looks "DELICIOUS" 😋

Four onions AND then more onions?? Scallions are also onions. I mean I like my onions, usually raw, but c'mon.
What a limited viewpoint: "my way is the only way"...
and avoiding any other cooking style.

I like putting them in vinegar water for an hour and then cooking on grill , the vinegar tenderizes them.
I love the salad...
The German’s “parboiled” pork about 8 decades ago. It’s an excellent method, but still is better if it has time in the oven with oil.
Looks tasty- catchy little tune, feels like I'm in a Mr. Rogers video- "Hello Neighbor"
I made this dish and my family almost ate the tips of their fingers off 😋😋😋😋
