Yes i built this kit in 1981 i was 17 years old at that time it was a nice kit to build
It would look amazing build
It’s a beautiful truck, and I got a great education watching you work! Thanks
Thanks for watching! it was a lovely simple build
May 9, 2023---Thanks for the video and your build looks great, but...... Drove truck for 10 years all over the U.S. as an otr (over the road) driver, then went to ltl (less than loaded). Never drove a cab over which is what these kind of trucks are called. plus a few other names. Before becoming a driver, worked the parts room for a trucking company and one of the drivers there drove a cabover. He was paid an extra 2 cents a mile for doing so. Thing is, it had a sharper/better turning radius when pulling a trailer. The engine is between both seats and getting to your rack (bed/sleeping area) was a bitch as you have to climb over the engine cover. And when I got to driving, cabovers had been pretty well phased out. Then there was the chance of slipping/falling while trying to get into the truck. Been there, done that a couple of times with a regular truck, especially when the steps are wet/slippery when it snows. Imagine hitting the asphalt from a couple of feet.
A common problem with ALL trucks kits is an inaccurate interior but some of this can be fixed. No seat/shoulder belt is one of 'em. There are 2 LARGE air release knobs/buttons....one's for the truck, the other for the trailer and the 2nd knob is also used as an emergency brake release. First one is red, the 2nd is yellow. Notice there's NO detailing on the inside of the doors, so arm rests and window crank handles will be needed if you cut open either door for an in use diorama. Couldn't tell if the kit provides a 5th wheel release handle or not. One thing a lot of modelers don't do, is making 2 airlines and a electrical cable on the back of their models, along with gladhands for those airlines which are also on every trailer. Every truck MUST go thru a yearly inspection and I think that's what shown to the right of the drivers door but it's mandatory to have one on the passenger side too.
Thought you did an outstanding job paint and decaling wise and yes, got one of these kits, plus several types of trailers in my unbuilt stash. As for me, plan on using it and other models in some realistic zombie/apocalypse dioramas, so no Mad Max looking stuff. Trailers flimsy, usually with mahogany floors and looking at converting one where it's now a group of survivors home or make a trailer bed for one of Trumpeters cans, i.e., shipping containers. I've also got some reefers for a different trailer.
Great work!
That was a nice watch, you've earned my sub!
Thank you 🙏
Turned out pretty nice 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
You should thy a 1/25 scale kit. They’re a little more complicated. Looks good! Thanks for sharing Mos. 😎🇨🇦
Yep when I see one I’ll pick it up
Good job well done
Thank you so much 😀
@@MOS6510Models Do you have any extra parts for a truck, and trailer. I need help with a set of wheels I have on 1/32 scale. Can you help me?
looks great!
Thank you! Cheers!
My favourite model 🚛
Really nice build Mos!
Glad you think so!
Great kit and build, looks awesome
Thank you my friend
Now I'm inspired to build my big scale version of this or rebuild one of the other truck kits I have. Trouble is, I'm out of storage space!
Mine is going up the library for people to look at.. but i feel your pain regarding space.. i have a wife who thinks they are dust magnets lol
Let me add that I want to get into resin printing and just found a free file for printing gladhands in 1/32 scale!
Great job, I love it! Now I want one too!
Go for it!
I have made this , broke the lower decal so only fitted one. Was an enjoyable build
It’s a great model to build
Beautiful build keep on building
Thanks, will do!
Very nice model and build, I will give these LP paints a try myself 😀.
Thanks for the video.
Please do! they go down a treat
Almost the same colour scheme as the Aerodyne used in the TV show "BJ and the Bear". Anyone as old as me remember that? Come to think of it, AMT did a "BJ and the Bear" Aerodyne tie in kit in 1/25. I think I want one now (along with a "Moving On" Kenworth)
Folks on discord were mentioning that show.. I guess American market?
@@MOS6510Models American market for certain, but like many other shows, imported here. I lapped it up as a 11 year old in the middle of the Smokey and the Bandit/Convoy/CB radio craze of the late 70s in the UK. Movin On was another show that made all us kids want to drive Kenworth trucks when we grew up. That was until Dukes of Hazzard and Starsky and Hutch came along and then we all wanted Dodge Chargers and Gran Torinos. Still, cars and trucks did look way cooler back then. Nice work on the Aerodyne. It looks great and it's given me the itch to build a truck now.
Excellent build les , great paint finish 👍
Thank you matey
Nice build......I’ve a couple of large trucks in my stash to build. Love the finish of Tamiya paint
I have a load of Vallejo for sale now as I won’t be going back haha
@@MOS6510Models that's why I've not invested yet.. I've invested in 2 large sets of Vallejo and the full set of Army painter and alot of AK. I've about a dozen pots of Tamiya..
@@stuarthayes5880 get rid of AK.. the rest you’ll be fine with
@@MOS6510Models the AK paints are all metalics
@@stuarthayes5880 won’t buy on principle to be honest
👍👍
Lovely build Mos. Those LP paints look really good.
Thanks matey
Great build! Looks fantastic.. but... just so you know... the lights in the back that you painted orange are brake lights and should be red. The lights in the front chrome bumper that you painted orange are actually white fog lamps and should have stayed silver (or maybe painted white) regardless what you see on the box or in the instructions (model companies make mistakes all the time). Other than that vary nice build.
Thanks for the info! I went by the instructions and sometimes its frustrating when they arent so clear.. just looking back and the red and orange is very similar on the instructions.. too late now but i will remember that for the next time i build something a great at this truck
Great build as always
Thank you matey. Means a lot coming from you
You really stepping up sir. Now onto weathering :)
Looks awesome mate! Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
@@MOS6510Models no worries mate
Why don’t they use Kenworth and Peterbilt in the UK
the size of them.. we dont see trucks with bonnets on them in the uk.. i think the trailers have to be shorter to allow the bonnet adding th the length
Awesome! Got this kit in the stash and looking forward to building it. Also seen this kit in the Jadlam clearance corner!
Not a fan of spraying lacquer but i guess this truck deserves it for that gloss finish.
Nice to see a not so common kit built and reviewed. Thanks 👍
Yes.. it came in an email so for that money it was worth a punt.. worth a build
I'm going into toyworld buy two models
I going back to perth and buy few models and this one at toyworld cairns buy this model kit
It’s a alright kit
