  • In this video I show you to install a preformance revshift different Bushing. A heavy duty drive shaft support bearing. And some working in progress aluminum couplers. But near the end of video I had to end up installing OEM flex couplers instead due the aluminum couplers not working right. Please enjoy .

    I'm loving seeing more people putting up videos working on the STS! I can only get so far watching CTS videos haha. Prepping to drain and refill my transmission fluid, replace the transmission filter, and replace the center support bearing. My bushings are still good, thankfully, but I'm getting the clunking while shifting gears and the thumping under the center console now so that bearing needs to go.

      @fixitdaniel  2 роки тому

      So that means that up under the armrest there should be the shifting linkage and you have a drive shaft and you have a drive shaft support bearing that's holding the drive shaft so you could have a bad center support bearing that got them broke or something like that Best thing to do is to get under there and see what's loose by pulling and and sea what's broke

      You may want to use a jack to hold the differential as you lower it so I can stay suspended you can't just drop it a little it don't go to the ground and you have hoses and lines and stuff probably attached to it so just use a jack to lower it down to make room to replace all three bushings if you want to do it that way that's what I did

I don’t hear any clunking but I can still feel it vibrating a bit when I take off enough to where I don’t like it the mechanic said my motor mounts are bad but the car doesn’t shake at all at idle it only vibrates where the support bearing is. So, I have an 06 STS and I checked out your vid on replacing the center driveshaft bearing, and I replaced it. Also replaced the shift linkage with the SR-1 kit. That solved the center console thumping and vibration problem, but the clunking in the rear diff started afterward. What do you think of using 3M windo-weld urethane to fill in that bushing where the oem rubber failed, instead of replacing it, and without dropping anything? I was thinking of getting the solid urethane bushing from creative steel, and renting the tool from them, but it's still a job. My car has almost 200k and I just had both catalytic converters replaced for a second time along with a starter. Other than that it's regular maintenance, so this car is a keeper, I just don't want to pay for the installation of that bushing if this could fix my clunking problem., ijs

      @@fixitdaniel I was referring to injecting 3M windo-weld polyurethane into the failed portion of the bushing to stop the clunking! It would serve the same purpose as replacing it with what you used, without the hassle of removing, dropping, or cutting anything! I'm 61 now, and I've learned over the years to work smarter, not harder if you can, and after an inspection, that front bushing is the only culprit. I was just mentioning that option for your thoughts, as well as anyone else's! I've seen others do it with other vehicles with positive results, but nobody with our vehicle.

      @@ajboy68 it doesn't matter it will still fit the green one like I got is the most race one most aggressive harderest polyurethane. And the black feel like OEM but is better. I'd get the green one hint hint.
