I actually agree with this one. Scream is also my favorite movie franchise but honestly, I don’t like Scream 4 either. Everyone was just so petty and annoying I roll my eyes. There’s also NO character development. Some nice kills I guess but just feels bland. (A lot of Jill simps are gonna get mad but idc. She’s also overrated and annoying). Btw now that six is out it’s corny but at least tolerable. Six has earned 5th place for me
I agree with scream 4 placement, I know alot of people love it, but in my personal opinion it was the point where scream started to move away from Billy, but the final nail in the coffin was that they then have scream 5 and scream 6 returning back to Billy, just showing how Billy is a key point in scream. Furthermore, they portrayed a few characters much worse than they could have, an example being judy, who could have been used much better, but she just came across as awkward in some scenes and didn't have much depth until too late in the film
Scream 4's treatment of Sidney this it's biggest sin. She goes from holding her own against the likes of Billy, Mickey, Stu and Roman but suddenly Jill is able to overpower her? The first 2 acts are mediocre but I downright hate the 3rd act.
Whilst scream 1996 is probably widely regarding as the best of the franchise I think 2 & 4 did better jobs at the ‘who dunnit’ element and not giving the killers away too much or making us consider throughout the films that the eventual killers would be who they are (on first watch Ofc) after watching them several times you kinda see subtle signs throughout
I hate scream 4 because it was way too comical. Yes scream is knowin for is sarcasm and wit but no. Especially the sscene when he stabbed the officer and he crawled and was swinging that should’ve never made the Final Cut. 🥴🤦🏾♂️
