Apollo! The city you just took in the end of the episode has some pretty great buildings that allow you to recruit armstrong guns (the best artillery in the game) and if I'm not mistaken they also should have some pretty great gun infantry, so try to recruit a real army with cavalry, gun infantry and artillery if you can especially since you reached realm divide and the enemy clans are only bringing better and better troops
Additionally, you should really try to focus on your economy by building better economic buildings in your cities, since you can't afford a navy right now without going broke so you need to get your income up!

Issue with artillery is there is a glitch that makes them virtually unstoppable in melee against other melee troops. Better to just lineup and shoot, they’ll break in 2 volleys. Also, when using arty in siege battles, aim for the wall pieces, not the troops on them. Arty will hit walls easier and the broken chunks will kill more troops. Would also benefit to research kneel fire ability. Allows greater rates of fire especially in field defense against melee and cav units.

it is painfull to see how bad you are at this game bro. If i was atacking that city i would've hide my melee troops in the oposite side of the main core, bring the arty up on the hill and shoot the walls were the troops are stationed. when i would run out of amo for the arty i would bring the line infantry allmost in range to get the agro but not engage. after that i would've burn the gate with my melee and while the remaining of the enemy strared my line i would've got the victory point and killed anybody stupid enough to argue. estimated losses -around 30-50 troops.

Hi Apollo, you can upgrade the train stations so you can use rail transport for your army just send your army to a train station and moving your army will be much quicker
also use archers to take cities pls. they outrange line infantry by 25 m. i ussualy have 4-5 archers in my stacks and they take cities with allmost no casualities without even engaging in melee
Should have put the artillery on the hill so it could fire over the walls and cause more damage. Same with your rifles. When the samurai climbed, your own gunners fired volleys into them as the climbed in their attempt to hit the enemy, hence the mass route.
apollo you should play another campaign of this as a foreign power like france or britain or the united states
I laughed so hard at those two units at the end that just got straight executed. Poor lads. Didn’t even know what hit them. Lol

The reason why in the battle you fought against the remnants of the enemy army in your territory, your White Tiger unit was not firing, is because of the terrain bug; this bug makes that if it is not completely flat or has a very broken relief, then the unit does not fire no matter how close it is to the enemy (for this reason you should avoid deploying on very broken terrain).
P.S.: as a recommendation, in sieges use artillery to destroy the gates, so you avoid climbing and just send your Samurai to charge through each destroyed gate; of course, before that, you should send your line infantry to distract the rival army with their shots, so they cannot prevent your Samurai from climbing through the gates. On the other hand, the Shugekitai are very good swordsman units, make sure to put them in your Damyo's army (it would be a waste to leave them as a garrison, they are better than armored Samurai).
Harder difficulties artificially buff enemy stats and nerf your, a prominent one being morale. This is why your troops were breaking and unable to handle fighting the artillery, despite the obvious superiority that the game even recognizes with the balance of power in your favor. Also why some earlier sieges the enemies, even trash levy, would just not break. I think its somewhat immersion breaking so I don't like playing on the hardest diffuclties

One thing i learned watching this today. Japanese artillery has some bad ass melee.pretty sure they could take on most countrys infantry straight on. Best artillery ever
