This was definitely a, "Lets Kingmake Yuriko" type game like that commander needed the help
I love that you put up how long the actual game was, my old lgs had a group of people who thinks that all cedh games should be over super fast every time, and honestly that's just not realistic,
I can't blame the table for forgetting that Ben should draw a card when he casted his Sanctum Weaver. It's a creature after all.

I looove a good Yuriko game, it's always a fun commander to play and maybe my favorite in cEDH even if played on budget or non-bugdet. Also that Crippling Fear did so much there!!

creates infinite colored mana and infinitely large creatures with Sanctum Weaver if you have 5+ enchantments and one additional colored mana
I play Winota and can confirm this is how a majority of my games go. But when you high roll that Sol Ring into turn 2 Goblin Rabblemaster into 3 triggers on turn 3, ohhhhhhhhhh boy that's like crack to me.

Ignoring yuriko is like ignoring urza or kinnan. It won't end well.
You cant do thay much against yuriko though. If you kill Urza or Kinnan, they cost more and more everyturn while Yuriko will always return to the field cheaply. So you need to kill the other creatures, but then you are wasting removal on worthless 1-2 drops and you need to draw more removal than the number of small creatures yuriko has drawn. Powerlevelwise in terms of effect Yuriko is much weaker than Kinnan or Urza but she has resilience only matched by Emminence commanders (and out of those only Inalla is good on cEDH).
Wouldn't swinging Yuriko into the Bruse player at least kill Yuriko and force the player to have to Ninjutsu something out to get her back in?

Winota list in the description doesn't match with the cards shown during the game. No lightning greaves / Captain of the Guard is one of the evident showings of that

What is Entomb used for in the Yuriko list? I’ve seen some decks use it with Wonder but I don’t see it in Mikes list.

Didnt really get everyone focusing on Ben so heavily early.
Taylor is someone from my local meta and informed the table that my deck is constructed almost entirely towards untapping with a Sanctum Weaver or giving it haste immediately, and the fact that I would never just hang it out into play if I wasn’t ready to go off. Don’t forget communication is also a huge part of a commander game!

I was presenting the win with Sanctum Weaver up, Shaun was made aware by Taylor (someone in my normal local meta) that Sanctum Weaver cannot go left unchecked, especially in my list. Sometimes you just get got and they have what they need. New Boseiju is an amazing card.
This is why we move to equip the Boots before combat during the Main Phase.
I wonder.. did anybody looked at yuriko’s board ? All the Winota hate and.. with 10’ everybody’s knew how the game will be finished. Outstanding game managing by Mike.

Hi there! First off, the Sanctum Weaver cast trigger just wasn't announced. Second, the turn where I discarded the fetches was a very long one with lots of discussion. I had multiple other lands in my hand and entirely forgot to play out my Snow Plains. Misplays happen! Tough game with lots going on

I dunno, I think that Taylor is the worst way to spell Shaun.
The name "Shaun", with that spelling, will always remind me of that Saint Seiya abomination of a series in Netflix, where they changed one of the main characters from the manga/anime (Shun) to a woman (Shaun).

Taylor is someone from my local meta and informed the pod that with Sanctum Weaver on board I am most likely to win the game on my next turn. He knows that it's the building point of the deck, I even have the Sanctum Weaver art tattooed on me, serious stuff. Unknowingly, I did have the win in my hand (I revealed the Gauntlets of Light after I was killed). Shaun's heads up play after the table's discussion was the right move, unfortunately for me. But that's magic! It was a great game :)

I probably wouldn't have kept that hand imo I mean yes winota joiner of forces is supposed to be fast but still I mean cavern of souls is nice but if you have no protection spells for a turn to Winota you're a sitting duck. As someone who has been in the scenario when it's killed multiple times i understand the thinking
I personally probably would have wanted one more non human in my hand or a decent stax piece before accepting a hand.

Time and time again, the same mistake is made. Yuriko is very op, but it is very easy to stop her if players interact and attack Yuriko. For example, the swords to plowshares or the on thin ice should have been directed to prevent the creatures from attacking hence stoping yuriko from etb with ninjitsu. Then allowing Winotta to hit the Yuriko player and afterwards a board wipe to balance the game without the Yuriko player.
Are you saying that temporarily removing for Yuriko for a single turn with On Thin Ice would be a better play than removing the Seedborn Muse in a Thrasios deck??? Mike wasn't ignored. Our resources were just spent dealing with each other while Mike sculpted. He wasn't the biggest threat on board until Seedborn and Sanctum Weaver were removed. Objectively, Mike chipping away and slowly growing his board state was not amongst the table's biggest worries.
The only way to beat Winota is to either deny them of their early game creatures so they do not accrue Winota activations/value, or constantly sweep the board (which is somewhat unrealistic). Seedborn Muse + Thrasios cannot be ignored, and I was presenting the win on my turn. Allowing Winota to get active to "deal with the Yuriko player" is not a valid strategy. The hate and momentum that deck brings is NOT ignorable. It's called Snowball for a reason.

I love Cedh so much but I really feel like something needs to be done about Yuriko. She gets the best combo in the game with dimir colors and is super hard to counter with the life loss. Would love for your guys opinion though also sorry Winota player you'll get em next time haha.
If Yuriko was truly a problem it would win more. Its just obnoxious, like many decks.
I think that Yuriko is a deck that people hate on because of it's popularity and consistency. Yuriko is not a "bonkers busted deck". Half of the format doesnt care about losing 12 life, they'll just go way over your head. Yuriko is probably the cheapest and best gateway into cEDH. Although it is strong, it's at a good and healthy place in the meta. Creature based decks are becoming more and more popular. If Yuriko is a problem to you then maybe try something more midrange. If Yuriko "gets going" turns 1-4 and doesn't win, you should be casting enough creatures or relevant spells that losing the dribs and drabs of life doesn't matter.
