I usually find that cEDH gameplay can kind of meld together. This game however, had some of the most interesting choices I’ve seen in a long time. Really fantastic game!
Happy to see Charles take the win here. Charles is going to be at my local monthly cEDH tournament this Sunday with Josh from Mind Muscle Magic, and I'm excited to meet them in person.
Charles makes me happy. White is my favorite Color in Magic and seeing how it came back from 4 rifts was amazing. Plus I love stax so this was a treat!
I loved that play, too. It’s one of my favorites of all time. Drake was such a pleasure to play against and his thinking of the game I think is phenomenal.
@@Ilvaldi ua-cam.com/video/Ea5qqjprZbg/v-deo.html Similar play at 31:00. He plays Neoform into his opponent's Opposition Agent to try to keep him alive. I don;t play as much CEDH, but overall the Najeela player understood his line to victory and requires one of his opponents (without the stax) to go. It paid off and he won.
Agreed, If you have good pilots and decks that are evenly powered and balanced against each other you end up with a much cleaner format and games like this
@@WG_Zombeenie yes but at the same time everyone except Charles was on low life totals and Chad had an empty library. Allowing him to Thoracle in that spot was the only realistic way to stop Charles from winning
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG Got a point there. Easier to kill everyone else given the mana bases and Mana Crypts. Charles seldom has stuff like that to kneecap him.
What a fantastic game! I was sure there would be multiple games given the runtime and was pleasantly surprised. "I will not bring back Stony Silence..."
No because the Shield Counter is not a "When this enters the battlefield" effect. Falco just shows up with a Shield Counter, kinda like how Cavern of Souls still lets you pick a Creature type even under a Blood Moon.
@@daolothe Almost all creatures that get counters when they ETB are replacement effects instead of triggered abilities. You can compare it with most kicker cards: they're "ETB with" rather than "As [cardname] ETB". You really only see it as a triggered ability when it needs to interact with something else on the battlefield (like Aetherborn Maurader)
Technically, no! Extort is reminder text, meaning that the b/w mana pip isn't actually printed on the card, just built into the extort mechanic! Therefore it's mono-white. If extort was it's own special keyword for just that card, then it would be.
This is a common mistake that happens. I thought the same thing when I first started playing! But since the pip is in reminder text, that means it's not actually printed on the card itself, and therefore not an attribute that makes up the card's color identity. It's confusing, but I hope this helps.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG nice thank you, i was caught pants down last week, i was about to pop off with korvold on the field and dockseide trigger on the stack, all treasor enter tapped and i lost due to blind obedience ahah
How did Drake get a second assassins trophy? He spent one to kill null rod. Then mystical tutored for assassins trophy. Did he get his trophy put back in his library and I misssd it?
I groan everytime I see Rhystic Study, Tymna and Dockside. Generic, universally good cards that are played in every single deck make the format so repetitive and flavorless.

Charles adhering to the letter of the deal at 9:45 is what I'm here for
If the card Armageddon was transformed into a person, it would be Charles.
Charles the GigaChad.
That was savage
Gross I love it 😋
"I promise I will not reanimate Stony Silence."
"Okay."
"Cast Null Rod."
XD
Got ‘em If I was there, I would be part of the uproar xD

I saw heliod and KNEW it was charles. I got really excited because it’s always, ALWAYS a good game when Charles comes to play.
The teamwork between Zach and Drake was entertaining and cool. Great game guys loved to watch it!

This was an absolutely incredible showing from Charles, good job!
That is one of the coolest decks ive seen win a cedh game damn.
Not bringing back stony silence but bringing back null rod is truly sassy
Chareles: I follow the letter of the deal.
That was awesome! I loved how the deck was able to build and play with the Cyclonic Rifts, taking advantage of turn order!
Absolutely love the games with these mono-white stacks decks.
3:17 One could say... this was a Chad turn 1.
Charles makes me happy. White is my favorite Color in Magic and seeing how it came back from 4 rifts was amazing. Plus I love stax so this was a treat!
Yessss Charles! Always love seeing him play!
And what was the most important card in this game?
Wandering archaic?
It was that land tax t1.
Gezzuzzzz guys, I really like Charles and his mono W deck man! Amazing!!
Drake might be my new favorite player, gigachad moves out there
That abrupt decay was such an awesome play!

@@Ilvaldi Too bad he didn't win ...
Was there no MVC? Cause i feel like even tho Drake didnt win, the Wandering Archaic generated him lots of value and deserved to be MVC
what a proper game of cedh, really shows that it's not at T3 format, especially when you have pilots like these.
Agreed, If you have good pilots and decks that are evenly powered and balanced against each other you end up with a much cleaner format and games like this
When are we gonna learn to just kill Charles before we try and win :Sadge:
Because it's actually hard to do. He usually has problems on the board by turn 2.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG right but Chad did the right thing trying to not let Gryff resolve at the end and Drake stopped him twice

Bold move there Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for them.
Game begins at 2:55
And that's why we play mono white 🤍
I see Drake is a fan of signed cards, so I'm rooting for him to win! :P
Good win Charles, Go off King!
fantastic content

Drake a real one 🚫🧢

Love seeing Alabama legend Drake on the show!
Im new in commander end cedh but doesn’t blind obediance an orzov card? It has black in this extort ability and the commander is mono white right?

I'm ready for the content 😎
BASED CHARLES i love his heliod deck well done
Let’s go DRAKE!
Charles is the master
Very intense game
Wow sick game
im very proud of charles
Drake a real Chad
Great game!
How did Drake get a second assassins trophy? He spent one to kill null rod. Then mystical tutored for assassins trophy. Did he get his trophy put back in his library and I misssd it?
Heliod is back again! Nice \o/
Chad's list should consider a Nexus of Fate as a way to win through a Hermit Druid if Thoracle is all staxed out
Charles couldn’t become monarch because of hushbringer? This game was crazy
Hushbringer and Hushwing Gryff only affects creatures not enchantments
that's a brave commander for Charles to play. I get that he's the mono white guy, but the bad heliod?
This is a textbook case of commander doesn’t matter, it’s the pilot
@@abrahamdrinkin2534 ya, next time I hope he shows up with Isamaru
Stranger things commander pog
a victory with bad heliod, wow
ooof now this was a game
I'm here for more Friends Forever keywords. I like seeing how the creatures compliment each other
Ahoy
I hope Chad wins because his name is Chad
That Null Rod was definitely in poor taste
Maaaaaan Charles is so cool
I'm a diff Charles but i have a question can anhelo the painter be cedh i personally think so just with fast combos, his colors, etc.
He does have 2 card combos so yes
this is why i run a lab maniac in my falco deck it is a static ability not an etb would have won the game
I do run labman, I'm just smooth brained and forgot to consider it in my pile :sadge:
Drakes deck seems to really lacking win cons. It is a 5C good stuff list with commanmders that don't really interact with the win con super well.
heliod sun crowned or god of the sun? either way, pilot is the wey

Chad..may I buy you a real ponder?😂
Hey man, I just- haven't gotten around to making a tcg order yet 🤣

I have been honestly wondering why people Dont use wandering archaic since the day it came out.
Now everyone seems to get it.
I fight against proxy in this channel. I won't watch the rest of the video
Skill over money, no one wants to fight your wallet. Even then, we'd still probably beat you.
It's your channel or something like that? I mean, owners are the one to decide that.
It's not a tournament.who cares if there proxies.
