- What is the best way to raid an ocean monument? Well, best can mean different things to different people, but if you want to know how to defeat all three Elder Guardians in under five minutes, with no armor, no milk, no enchanted weapons... and still take no damage, this is the video for you.

You can also use a flint and steel and not worry about the redstone blocks.
Never seen the sand trick. I always surround the TNT with solid blocks but putting a sand block inside the TNT is much easier for the same result.

i thought the point of the redstone block though was so that the water didnt flow onto the tnt and nothing would blow up?
@@qarful7 nope. You need the sand block to go into the TNT so that it doesn't float up. As long as the TNT is touching the blocks below it will blow them up.

@@madman2572 TNT doesn't float, the point of the sand is because TNT doesn't break block when in water, when it's in the sand, it counts as on land TNT

I didn't know about using sand, I always used slime blocks to surround the tnt.
also an option, but sand is cheaper to get...that is the point of the video: raining monument with minimal effort, and getting slime blocks is a lot more effort than a few blocks of sand
that works too... but more blocks and more things you might place wrong... also very slightly slower... :P

Why this works? You have a armor piece so why does the invisibility work? And how it does not agro the guardian when you hit it with sword? And how that tnt works? It was not fully consealed by the sand. I tested this in my survival world and yeah, IT WORKS! But how? And why?
wearing armor increase the visibility range, but had to risk it for the video :P
it can't see me so it can 'agro' all it wants but it has no one to attack :)
it blocks the water from filling in where the tnt is, that is why :)
You could technically use any falling block (except concrete which would react with water), 'cause TNT changes state and becomes an entity in the world when it gets lit, which dropping blocks sees as an open space and opportunity for it to fall down on. I can't explain how the air pocket works, but it likely works because both blocks has identical dimensions and overlapping perfectly making the game think the TNT is in a non-water position.

I'd never say anything bad about our lord and saviour Gnembon, but I did find EagleEye621's video here a bit more to the point. Gnembon is obviously a genius, there's a reason he works for Mojang now (as of Q1, 2023), but sometimes I struggle to follow his videos - this was more my pace. Oh, and it was the first search result 😂

Exactly what I've been thinking! I've been thinking of building a tunnel to the monument and bringing a cow with me, 'cause why not? Infinite milk. A bit overkill after seeing this video though, but that was my initial plan.
I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen, having seen shulkercraft's video ua-cam.com/video/ILGqKG9whUE/v-deo.html. Though this approach is slightly simpler.

someone else commented and I looked up his video... pretty similar but he uses multiple slime blocks instead of sand
This is entirely too much stuff, you can steal all the gold from a monument with a door and an iron pick with 2 render distance strats

Is there any way of telling/predicting if there are sponge rooms? My luck is terrible for this
create a creative copy of your world and go to the monument to raid and remove the prismarine to see all sponge rooms (or use x-ray) and if you looking for monuments with sponges go to chunkbase, find monuments and do the creative chekcing before rainding...or just excavate the entire thing to make sure you don't miss any rooms.
some have more than one (some have none :( ) but other than possibly looking at the seed I don't think there is any way to know before hand.
Thanks for the answers to both! Would be nice to know without looking at the seed, but I guess this is what we have for now. Some predict diamonds looking at clay, who knows what granite is saying about sponges...

POG ... the sand is needed to prevent the water from filling back in once the tnt is lit... if it does the explosion won't destroy the block

I love that invisibility completely foils them. More evidence to the theory Guardians are machines; they can't process what is damaging them.

@@EagleEye621 On my survival world I have four monuments in a 500 block radius around my base. I've spent a while eye-balling them trying to find a way to raid it. I knew the lazers could easily kill me with my full protection four diamond armor. But thanks to you I am free to go raiding!
