Lava bucket also will be helpful with dealing against piglin brutes, because common piglings wont get angry at you if you kill brute with it. And bringing some dirt or soul soil to place warped fungus on it can be helpful to deal with hoglins
Another thing I’ve personally realized after dying a lot- raiding bastions from the top down are normally much safer. It’s easier to stop enemies from coming up to you than to stop them from dropping down on to you

Bridge, Stables and Housing can have different ramparts that contain varying numbers of chests: In Bridge, they will have 1 or 3 and in housing and stables they will have between 1-3. The loot tables do not change in these however. 2. In the stables part of the hoglin stables bastion, the chests may also contain gold blocks or diamond hoes 3. Stables is also by far the bastion type that varies the most in terms of amount of loot. In the non-stable part, there can be between 4 and 12 chests (counting double chests as 2). There can also be lots of gold if you can find it. 4. While it is the best bastion for speedrunning by far, housing is likely the worst for the casual player. Despite this, there can be 3, 4 or 6 chests in the top part and at least 3 (usually ~5-6) in the bottom part. There are ways to identify the different housing units as well and there is a tutorial for that on youtube by someone named EleventyBillion. Housing also generates at least 12 blocks which are buried but more may generate (such as the ones at the top of the units in this video). 5. Treasure is the best bastion but those chests in the middle were quite a bit better than what you are likely to get. You will usually only get 1 chest down there and I'd say on average 1 good item (diamond equipment or netherite debris or scrap). You can also get quite a few gold blocks out of those chests. 6. A way to easily kill piglin brutes (and regular piglins) without agroing the other piglins is with a lava bucket. Just make sure you have fire res handy (it is relatively common from piglin trades). This lava bucket method also works extremely well with hoglins. If you can, pillar up 4 blocks if a hoglin is chasing you and place the lava on the side of the pillar to kill the hoglin. 7. If you hit baby hoglins once, they will become scared of you and avoid you for ~10-15 seconds. 8. If you are using the pillar method to kill piglins, it is important to remember that half of all piglins have crossbows and can shoot you off. 9. If you are simply looking to distract piglins, remember that throwing them any gold item will distract them. But be careful as their AI can sometimes be really dumb and not notice it for a few seconds so it is better to right click them with a gold ingot to distract them. 10. Do not use respawn anchors in any dimension but the nether. They will explode just like beds. 11. Some of the largest clusters of gold are as follows: At the bottom of housing there are 9 gold blocks very close together, they are located in a sort of pit area where there is lots of chiseled blackstone bricks. On the bottom left and right of Stables, when there is not a chest there, there will be between 1 and 4 gold blocks in a wall there as well as between 2 and 8 gold blocks in the floor of the same room. Also in stables, on the ramparts with 3 chests (1 double 1 single), there are 4 gold blocks hidden in the room directly below the single chest. In the very top 2 floors of treasure, there are between 2 and 14 gold blocks in the walls. Sometimes they will be exposed, but mostly not. They do however always generate in the same 14 places. 12. As a final rule of thumb, always wear and gold helmet or boots when in a bastion. Although it will not deter piglin brutes, with the lava bucket trick or the boat trick it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Good luck.
Quick tip, about chunkbase... you can type your coordinates in below the map, to see where you are or to see where you want to go. Type in the x and y and hit go! And it will place the red dot. Very useful tool. Great video as always.
I went straight to one, underestimated the strength of the brutes, died in like 2 hits, I come back after borrowing someone's elytra, and see that a piglin took all my armour and he was part of the moshpit of normal piglins and brutes that went into the lava to get to me T_T

One time in a server, me with my friends we do a bastion "heist" -use the invisibility potion -drink fire resistance to swim in lava to the main loot area -use hoppers to grab all loot -and run, run as faster we can
One thing to note: after 1.20, the netherite upgrading smithing template now required to upgrade your diamond tools to netherite have a low chance to spawn in bastion chests but a 100% chance to spawn in a treasure bastion

You forgot to mention that it's extremely useful to bring a lava bucket to a bastion. The lava can easily kill the piglin brutes without alerting the piglins nearby. Also works great on hoglins.
@@Unknown-rb6idi'm sure they'll try to attack you if they can get to you. However, pouring lava on a mob isn't a direct attack since you're not actually hitting them. It's best to keep your distance, and having a height advantage is good because you could pour lava from above. I've killed many a piglin brute by giving them lava showers from above.
I found Lava Buckets very effective in clearing out bastion mobs. Also, if you time the lava correctly, or use a fire aspect/flame weapon, the Hoglins can drop cooked porkchops, which can be an extremely good source of food even if you're just killing the ones in your way.
A technique that I found was well to rid the bastion of most piglins was to bridge over lava while they are hostile. As long as they can’t follow you onto to the bridge they will run into lava.
My suggestion is to start dealing with the eniema from up to down while searching really well before going down because If someone up survives they can drop on you from any direction and kill you so fast you can t react. And another things you should to is to aggro the enemies on a floor and then then trap them with a few blocks and kill them all like that.
I think the 16 blocks of gold that you find at The Bridge, is supposed to be a Piglin head, considering there are 2 quartz slabs that represent the Piglins tusks.
Epic! so helpful, I've recently returned to minecraft since the 1.19 release and last time I played Bastions didn't exist, I'm very thirst for their loot now!
The treasure room design is my favorite. I'll have to head to more bastions and hopefully get a Pigstep or two. I never knew about the snout blocks hiding gold or how many chests were in a bastion. I'll maybe have to revisit some as well and see what I might have missed.
Getting into and out of any closed space is pretty easy in Minecraft if you don't mind going slowly. Bring stacks of blocks, tunnel in from the side of the structure instead of walking in the front door, identify carefully where you're trying to go, and protect yourself on all sides with blocks as you creep slowly toward the target. I did this to get nether wart out of a housing bastion, since the only fortress I'd found had no wart. The wart is pretty visible from many places in the bastion, so I got in securely, lined myself up horizontally with the wart, then gradually built a tube of blocks to get me there. Mobs couldn't even see me, much less attack.
11:40 on Bedrock edition, when you use a shield against a hoglin it actually knocks back the hoglin instead of the player, so if you are near an edge of the bastion, knocking them off could be a good and easy method unless there are multiple, if there are multiple I like fir them to hit me with my shield, then sword crit, and repeat.
If you have problems with piglin brute, gets a chest place it and break it again. So you lure all the piglin brute to you and could easily kill them if you build a small house about 4x4. I always use this method it works every time
you can also kill hoglins going the 3 blocks up and burning them with lava placing it repeatedly in the floor so it can't spread to get cocked pork chop

the bastion routes used in speedrunning help quite a bit because you can uncover gold blocks easily. my recommendation for dealing with piglin brutes is to use boats. place one in its path, and it'll be completely immobilized by the boat. other piglins will get mad at you if you attack a brute, so bring some gold along to distract them.
i like to just park on the very top roof to start, dig like a 4x4 hole in the roof and rain arrows from there until i cat see any more stuff then i go a little lower and repeat - this is how i raid on my hc world
I conquered part of a bastion today,it was awesome! .I used a lot of blocks to cover up holes where I could fall .Placed soul torches here and there .Killed every piglin I saw with my bow .Got swarmed by Magma Cubes,had to kill so many till I destroyed the spawner .After the Magma Cubes,I made my way over to the loot 💯🙏🏾🔥 It felt like playing in a stealth level honestly lol

biggest thing that so many people overlook!! invisibility potions!!! piglins almost hardly detect you(two block distance) when opening chests, and same goes for brutes. Don't attack any of the piglins though then you'll be in trouble (only works without armor on)
Bastion remnants are not too easy because, opening chests will anger piglins (but you can avoid that by using a hopper to collect the chest loot or scaring them with soul light sources), and Piglin brutes which are kinda op.
the other day I found a housing unit using the /locate command but I had no idea that there were different kinds of bastions, I thought it was all just bastion remnants/housing units. I'm gonna go raid the nether now
The piglin brutes are very dangerous, as they're like a vindicator but with more health. They have enough health to survive a melee from the warden, but they don't always survive them.
Tip - you can also bring in any blocks like dirt and make a safe cubby hole, and place your respawn anchor there, along with a back up set of armor and weapons. Maybe not a full set, but you don't want to leave your respawn point naked and defenseless. Shield, definitely, bow or two with infinity and some extra arrows. Food, basic building blocks for making a mobile safety cubby. Using these building blocks can give you a safe place to hide and recover, as you can fall off a 2 or 3 tall high stack of blocks. It's not optimal, but an option. As I type this, I'm standing at my first bastion and I didn't bring any wood or chests. Time to boomerang and grab more prep gear and return and begin the slaughter. Hopefully not mine. Thanks for the tips.

Using a lava bucket is very useful for killing all of the mobs in the bastions. Much more efficient than a nether it’s axe against a brute as well as it keeps them away from you due to the flow of the lava. Also make a safe space in the bastion as well where you can hide.
Thanks for the tutorial! In my Minecraft world, I’m currently grinding for XP the best I can to get some enchants on my full set of diamond gear just waiting to be used completely untouched. But when I’m feeling a little more adventurous I’ll head through my pre-built nether portal and start searching for a bastion- and when I find one this tutorial should really help! Edit: Oh and since this video is from a year ago, things have changed no longer can you get Netherite gear IN ORDER to go in the bastion, unless you’ve already been to another one because as of 1.20, you need to raid a bastion to get Netherite because of smithing templates making this challenge even harder.
0:17 or alternatively you could clone the world, and switch the cloned world to creative, and find it with ease, after all,that’s how I found the stronghold that was next to my base.
My friend and I usually use our Power V bows and try to snipe all the Piglin Brutes from a distance. Even with Netherite armor, those guys can easily kill you in melee combat, especially if there are multiple of them.
This helped a lot! Occasionally i managed to mine aroung some mobs. Once I even trapped them kind of in a spot where they could see but not reach me. Easily killed many mobs in one place that way and the area was cleared. Also your tip with the boxes is gold!
Thank you for this guide! My first experience with a bastion I found the top of it exposed and mined down into it only to fall into an enclosed room and instantly get murdered by a brute. Hopefully next time that will not happen lol
good video. I will mention though that you left out one thing about bastions, in every bastion I've raided, I've found a hidden chest room randomly tunneling through walls. I usually enter bastions by pillaring up and burrowing into the center. surprisingly, i've burrowed directly into a concealed chest room several times by pure dumb luck. they're usually about 6x6 rooms with a single chest and no path in or out. So you will never see them without tunneling or cheats like spectator mode. not sure it's a feature or a terrain generation bug but they're always there.
Always bring a lava bucket. And when a mob chases you, run away and place lava in front of them and watch them die in agony. You can also tower up 3 or 4 blocks so that the mob cant reach you, then you can pour lava on the top block which you are standing on, and the mob will burn up. This doesnt anger piglins and gets rid of hoglins and brutes
Today, I set off to find a Bastion Remnant, and found one within a mere stone's throw of my rail terminus. Thankfully, it had a Nether Template, which is what I was looking for. I was seriously despairing that I would ever find one. Now I can go back to mining thousands and thousands of blocks to unearth some Diamonds and Ancient Debris.
I like making my tunnels in the nether lined with blackstone bricks. I just realized that all these basions are COMPLETELY made of blackstone. In leveling ever single basion 😂🔥
I like to call piglins, Pillagers of the nether, because some of them have an axe like the vindicator, and the bastion reminds me of a woodland mansion. They should make little piglin outposts like the pillager ones.
ive searched whole nether forts and found zero warts, that one wart in the bastion is where i found mine for my world and im very thankful its there or id need to find another fort all together and hope that one wasnt lacking in them as well.
Just went through one of these for the first time after not playing this game in years. I knew how the piglins operated but did not know that fortress was theirs. I immediately saw a double chest and went in. Next thing I knew, I had 20 of them on top of me (I died very quickly). Went back to rescue my stuff and found my diamond armor was gone. (Died again). Finally got back and figured out the a-holes were each wearing a piece, so I wised up and used blocks to pillar out of reach or block them in, killed all of them, finished raiding everything and left. All in all, absolutely horrifying experience if you don't already know what you're getting into. It was worth it though 😅

I always try to fill up all the holes in the floor with blocks so I won't slip in them later trying to run away from a mob or by being clumsy.
I quit each time. Easier to restart a playthrough (mentally)
I think since piglin brutes use axes, they will disable shields just like an attack from a vindicator.

Bring stacks of blocks, tunnel in from the side of the structure instead of walking in the front door, identify carefully where you're trying to go, and protect yourself on all sides with blocks as you creep slowly toward the target. I did this to get nether wart out of a housing bastion, since the only fortress I'd found had no wart. The wart is pretty visible from many places in the bastion, so I got in securely, lined myself up horizontally with the wart, then gradually built a tube of blocks to get me there. Mobs couldn't even see me, much less attack.
11:40 on Bedrock edition, when you use a shield against a hoglin it actually knocks back the hoglin instead of the player, so if you are near an edge of the bastion, knocking them off could be a good and easy method unless there are multiple, if there are multiple I like fir them to hit me with my shield, then sword crit, and repeat.
If you have problems with piglin brute, gets a chest place it and break it again. So you lure all the piglin brute to you and could easily kill them if you build a small house about 4x4.
I always use this method it works every time

you can also kill hoglins going the 3 blocks up and burning them with lava placing it repeatedly in the floor so it can't spread to get cocked pork chop

Thanks so much! I've been trying to speedrun Minecraft ssg and I was so scared that I guess I spent 15 minutes in the bastion just holding my shield and walking but now I know some tricks I will go and try the seed again
the bastion routes used in speedrunning help quite a bit because you can uncover gold blocks easily.
my recommendation for dealing with piglin brutes is to use boats. place one in its path, and it'll be completely immobilized by the boat. other piglins will get mad at you if you attack a brute, so bring some gold along to distract them.
tip - bring iron and pumpkins and spawn iron golems to help you out. it has saved me a bunch since the brutes are fast and deadly
just recently found a tresure bastion and didnt fully explore it just because it looked daunting but i will give it a try with these tips thx!
i like to just park on the very top roof to start, dig like a 4x4 hole in the roof and rain arrows from there until i cat see any more stuff then i go a little lower and repeat - this is how i raid on my hc world

.Placed soul torches here and there
.Killed every piglin I saw with my bow
.Got swarmed by Magma Cubes,had to kill so many till I destroyed the spawner

piglins almost hardly detect you(two block distance) when opening chests, and same goes for brutes. Don't attack any of the piglins though then you'll be in trouble

Bastion remnants are not too easy because, opening chests will anger piglins (but you can avoid that by using a hopper to collect the chest loot or scaring them with soul light sources), and Piglin brutes which are kinda op.
the other day I found a housing unit using the /locate command but I had no idea that there were different kinds of bastions, I thought it was all just bastion remnants/housing units. I'm gonna go raid the nether now

The piglin brutes are very dangerous, as they're like a vindicator but with more health. They have enough health to survive a melee from the warden, but they don't always survive them.
Tip - you can also bring in any blocks like dirt and make a safe cubby hole, and place your respawn anchor there, along with a back up set of armor and weapons. Maybe not a full set, but you don't want to leave your respawn point naked and defenseless. Shield, definitely, bow or two with infinity and some extra arrows. Food, basic building blocks for making a mobile safety cubby. Using these building blocks can give you a safe place to hide and recover, as you can fall off a 2 or 3 tall high stack of blocks. It's not optimal, but an option. As I type this, I'm standing at my first bastion and I didn't bring any wood or chests. Time to boomerang and grab more prep gear and return and begin the slaughter. Hopefully not mine. Thanks for the tips.

Using a lava bucket is very useful for killing all of the mobs in the bastions. Much more efficient than a nether it’s axe against a brute as well as it keeps them away from you due to the flow of the lava. Also make a safe space in the bastion as well where you can hide.

Thanks for the tutorial! In my Minecraft world, I’m currently grinding for XP the best I can to get some enchants on my full set of diamond gear just waiting to be used completely untouched. But when I’m feeling a little more adventurous I’ll head through my pre-built nether portal and start searching for a bastion- and when I find one this tutorial should really help! Edit: Oh and since this video is from a year ago, things have changed no longer can you get Netherite gear IN ORDER to go in the bastion, unless you’ve already been to another one because as of 1.20, you need to raid a bastion to get Netherite because of smithing templates making this challenge even harder.

0:17 or alternatively you could clone the world, and switch the cloned world to creative, and find it with ease, after all,that’s how I found the stronghold that was next to my base.

On my seed the first treasure bastion was in the basalt delta. I also have a woodland mansion within 700 blocks of spawn.
My friend and I usually use our Power V bows and try to snipe all the Piglin Brutes from a distance. Even with Netherite armor, those guys can easily kill you in melee combat, especially if there are multiple of them.
This helped a lot! Occasionally i managed to mine aroung some mobs. Once I even trapped them kind of in a spot where they could see but not reach me. Easily killed many mobs in one place that way and the area was cleared.
Also your tip with the boxes is gold!

Thank you for this guide! My first experience with a bastion I found the top of it exposed and mined down into it only to fall into an enclosed room and instantly get murdered by a brute. Hopefully next time that will not happen lol

good video. I will mention though that you left out one thing about bastions, in every bastion I've raided, I've found a hidden chest room randomly tunneling through walls. I usually enter bastions by pillaring up and burrowing into the center. surprisingly, i've burrowed directly into a concealed chest room several times by pure dumb luck. they're usually about 6x6 rooms with a single chest and no path in or out. So you will never see them without tunneling or cheats like spectator mode. not sure it's a feature or a terrain generation bug but they're always there.
Always bring a lava bucket. And when a mob chases you, run away and place lava in front of them and watch them die in agony. You can also tower up 3 or 4 blocks so that the mob cant reach you, then you can pour lava on the top block which you are standing on, and the mob will burn up. This doesnt anger piglins and gets rid of hoglins and brutes
The number of bridge bastions I've been to and I've never noticed the piglin face until you pointed it out. I was too busy looking out for brutes.

Today, I set off to find a Bastion Remnant, and found one within a mere stone's throw of my rail terminus.
Thankfully, it had a Nether Template, which is what I was looking for. I was seriously despairing that I would ever find one.
Now I can go back to mining thousands and thousands of blocks to unearth some Diamonds and Ancient Debris.

I like to call piglins, Pillagers of the nether, because some of them have an axe like the vindicator, and the bastion reminds me of a woodland mansion. They should make little piglin outposts like the pillager ones.
ive searched whole nether forts and found zero warts, that one wart in the bastion is where i found mine for my world and im very thankful its there or id need to find another fort all together and hope that one wasnt lacking in them as well.

Just went through one of these for the first time after not playing this game in years. I knew how the piglins operated but did not know that fortress was theirs. I immediately saw a double chest and went in. Next thing I knew, I had 20 of them on top of me (I died very quickly). Went back to rescue my stuff and found my diamond armor was gone. (Died again). Finally got back and figured out the a-holes were each wearing a piece, so I wised up and used blocks to pillar out of reach or block them in, killed all of them, finished raiding everything and left. All in all, absolutely horrifying experience if you don't already know what you're getting into. It was worth it though 😅
Treasure room is definitely the best, housing units and hoglin stables share second place, and bridge bastions are last bc they have the least chests.
