I ollie and then just push outwards to the side so as the ball and of my foot kicks the inside of the concave while I hold my toes upwards to flip the board. never a rocket or a need to flatten the board by hitting the nose. now after 20 years off the board and getting back on the heel flip was first go still nice and high and straight as a die with no movement away from under my feet. as I have said in another reply in your channel some people are natural to kick tricks and others to heel tricks (you have me wanting to learn the 360 version now or laser). when I was younger as I had more push with the ball of the foot into the concave than my mates (yep im an ozzie) I could triple heel flip with a reasonable amount of consistency. not back at that stage yet as I am older and just getting back into it (also not as brave as I once was) but they are still nice and clean. still I would trade a nice heel flip for the grace you do late flips with, your understanding of late flips can be seen by not only how well you do them but by how well you explain how they are working.
if you have been trying for a long time, and still can't get it, try flicking straight forward, not at the angle, and have your toes a little over the board. This will help if you can't get the rotation. Once you start landing these small heel flips, start moving your foot closer and closer to normal riding position and flicking a little more at the angle like jonny said to get nice height.

they also had the foot in the toe ollie position for the back foot.
for some reason I just got on the board and did it like this.
the back foot is square in the middle of the kick no angle at all.
my front foot is slightly past the middle of the deck and the ball of my foot is nice
and firmly in the middle of the concave and also square like the back foot.
I ollie and then just push outwards to the side so as the ball and of my foot kicks the
inside of the concave while I hold my toes upwards to flip the board.
never a rocket or a need to flatten the board by hitting the nose.
now after 20 years off the board and getting back on the heel flip was first go
still nice and high and straight as a die with no movement away from under my feet.
as I have said in another reply in your channel some people are natural to kick tricks
and others to heel tricks (you have me wanting to learn the 360 version now or laser).
when I was younger as I had more push with the ball of the foot into the concave than
my mates (yep im an ozzie) I could triple heel flip with a reasonable amount of
consistency.
not back at that stage yet as I am older and just getting back into it
(also not as brave as I once was)
but they are still nice and clean.
still I would trade a nice heel flip for the grace you do late flips with, your understanding
of late flips can be seen by not only how well you do them but by how well you explain
how they are working.
if you have been trying for a long time, and still can't get it, try flicking straight forward, not at the angle, and have your toes a little over the board. This will help if you can't get the rotation. Once you start landing these small heel flips, start moving your foot closer and closer to normal riding position and flicking a little more at the angle like jonny said to get nice height.
