Worth to mention that about 19 hours ago, only a few days after NoFear broke the world record, Doogile also broke the old world record, getting a 7:30. Incredible timing.

Well, his early is late already, so if he opt for safer gameplay the run is wasted, might as well risk it for potential time safe
8:05 NoFear actually saw the ruined portal in double f5 as he was mining the first log, otherwise he would've likely reset.
The craziest part about this run is after 10 months of the record standing the new world record doesn’t even use a god seed. He spawns far away from BT and has to run back to get wood. He was to run to for ~30-45 seconds to get to the bad part of a treasure bastion. He has to do home portal and get crazy strays and drop rates. This run was not pulled off by luck it was pulled off by skill.
Aside from the incredible strays and the 2-eye (actually 4-eye), the hidden reason this seed is so fast is the terrain. He played it impeccably and that's why he still has the world record (if you didn't know, Doogile got a run only 4 seconds slower than this the day before yesterday), but generally seeds with less than top-tier overworlds and that kind of distances in the nether don't do more than sub 10 no matter how well you play or how lucky your rng.
i mean tbh home portal isn't even bad if you have a surface portal
All Minecraft wr at this point are still immensely lucky. Quit the cope. If he had to do a 5 seed in a row average you wouldn't be seeing 7 & 1/2 minute averages. This was a super skillful run but please, let's not pretend like it's not super lucky xD. Bro was resetting for years to get this chance, he's just skilled enough not to squander it.

I'm just so incredibly happy for NoFear, I've been following him for a long time and I saw him grind, lose wr pace to zero eyes, last time video desc said he'd quit if it were to happen once more! Thankfully it didn't!

half the top 10 has been made this December, which is unrealisticly crazy given the regular timing gap there is between sub 9 runs.

At 8:05, you said ,"With a stroke of luck, he finds a nether portal." He actually saw the portal when he used f3 while mining wood, then went straight towards it, and recognized it as a completable portal, which happened to be the easiest generated ruin portal to complete.

something not mentioned is that he saw the ruined portal when he was breaking the tree with F3, he didnt just get lucky while he was trying to find a magma ravine, the portal was the goal from the start

11:19 there is actually 2 gold blocks that did not generate in the bastion so not every gold block had spawned

its crazy to thinkg about that he was 1 min behind when he left the bastion, this means a 6:24 is poss and looking at further optimisations like tnt and flint and steel in ruined nether portal and buried treasure, u can conclude that a sub 6 is for sure poss
looking at going for blind travel which would save like at least 20 sec and then going for the arrow one shot or smt, i think the minimum is around 5:20 prob
but if u get tnt iron gold ruined nether portal with flint and steel and like 3 obby ina forest spawn to a bastion then blind traveling into the protal room which is already lit then a one shot at the dragon, a sub 4 may be poss xd
most likely the last WR in `1.16 to whatever next major update gonna be is 5:30 or smt

The most interesting part of minecraft speedruning is "random seed, No Reset" you must play the world you get. And then after 5 runs at random seeds you use your average time to compete with :D Like rubrics Cube but with Minecraft speedruns :D
I don’t play Minecraft anymore for religious reasons but had to see what the hype was about. This recap was very well produced, and explained it well. Very epic, though I feel bad for the other guy who beat it but 6 seconds longer. Lol Music was cool too. Thanks.
