They found a black church that was being renovated so they rented it and invited members to join in as well as the chouir. As a thank you they paid for the repairs. I think it was in D.C.
Give a listen to Bachman Turner Overdrive, "You ain't seen nothin' yet". They were a great group from Canada, had lots of hit tunes. The lead singer on this one was teasing his brother, the drummer, with a stutter. It was done as a joke, but ended up being a big hit for them. His brother laughed too, by the way.
Saw these guys in ‘85 with the. original line up. Unbelievable performance. Lou Gramm is so underrated. They brought in a local choir to back this song. What a spectacle. Keep going with these guys. Juke Box Hero, Urgent, Cold as Ice, Head Games, Yesterday.
I stumbled into a performance of The Lou Gramm Band at an annually large local outdoor festival in the late 1990s/early 2000s. It was within a few years of him having a very serious and dangerous brain surgery. He didn't look well and his voice struggled at times throughout part of the show that I saw. So, it's good to see his health has recovered and he's performing with what sounds like a stronger, more stable voice.
That wasn't the original lineup as Mick Jones booted Ian McDonald and Ed Gagliardi out of the band after the Head Games album. They were stripped down from a six-piece band to a four-piece band when 4 was released in '81. IWTKWLI and That Was Yesterday were on the Agent Provocateur album which was released in '85.
They paired with children's groups around the country to sing and benefit the agency they welcome to help them sing when they tour. This song has helped so many lives! They close with it and ask the audience to sing with them. Yes I have seen them a few times. My kids love this group.
I remember around 1994 there was a sample of this on a modern rock radio advertisement as an example of music they dont play because they only play modern/alternative rock. People actual called the station to complain. The DJs then would play this song a couple of times a week and make reference to it. Funny stuff
This iconic tune was #1 on the charts in over fifty countries. Foreigner never released a power ballad until Waiting For a Girl Like You which was on their 4th album which was aptly named 4. Their self-titled debut album has always been my favorite....an instant classic, IMO.
I've seen Foreigner more than any other group, live, over the years. They would come to town and work with local school and church choirs for backup on various songs. Such a cool thing!!
Lou Gramm is such a Legend!! To me, he made Foreigner the success that they were. It wasn't the same when he left. I'd follow Lou anywhere, no questions asked!! The New Jersey Mass Choir was brought in to sing the backing vocals, becoming the first gospel choir to appear on a #1 pop hit. I always get emotional when the choir comes in towards the end of the video. It's just Beautiful!! Love this!!
The lyrics hit hard. We all know that feeling. It might be the same feeling Christ had before going forth with his teachings. In the modern day we have a rich man who gave up his cozy life to take on the system. A daunting task!! He won the presidency but lost it the second time so he came back for more. He was paid one dollar to be president. The media hated him and has done all they can to crucify him yet he just gets stronger and stronger. Why is he doing this? He could just go be happy with his money but no, he knows the big picture and how we will suffer if the system gets its way with us. So he fights on. He will stop at nothing to save us even though he does not know any of us personally, and will take all that they are willing to throw at him. Millions lost on legal fees and lies and still he comes hard forward toward them. God is on his side so no man can take him down. He was not a perfect man but he has the goods God needs to take on the system. MONEY. Money vs money and the war is on. He is winning despite all odds. He sacrificed his own life for others to be happy. That is what love is!❤
Not usually a fan of these kinds of songs but man do I get chills every time I hear this. If any one but Lou Gramm was singing I don't think it would be as good. Hard to believe this is on the same album as "Stranger In My Own House." Total ends of the spectrum.
In my country this song is played a lot around Christmas. It's not a Christmas song, but imho it fits very well. My absolute favorite of Foreigner is That was yesterday. Hope you guys react to it someday.
"love is...... Patient and kind, love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave in decently it does not look out for its own interests, does not become provoked it does not keep account of the injury, it does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.... "1 Corinthians,.... the Bible.... You guys said ALOT of good stuff. The song does too o. And God wants to clue us in too.... Here's a gift from him. Wouldn't it be nice if the world reflected God's view?........
I saw Foreigner in Indianapolis in 1993, sat in the front row at Deer Creek. It was the best concert I had been to and the singer through a handful of guitar picks at me. I will never forget that even though I didn't get even one. The girls around me when nuts.
Years ago Amy Winehouse was talking to a friend who was telling her how when he was a kid his Mom was the girlfriend of a guy in a band called Foreigner, they lived together. Amy said I know them ! and he said he wrote this song for her on the piano in their living room while he played with trucks on the floor and described him singing it over and over while he worked on it, he stopped and said whaddya think ? Real good. Ya sure ? I want her to like it. Oh yes, very good she'll like it ! laughing, I was so serious, and how happy she was when he sang it to her. Then he and Amy sang it laughing and walking down the street. I'll never forget it. Part of a documentary.
Lou Gramm just has that shade of soul to his voice that gives his vocals depth. I think that’s why he’s up there with classic rock’s top tier vocalists. Foreigner is one of those bands that has none of the original members in it. I mean, picture Led Zeppelin going out on the road with none of the original members in it, not that Foreigner is on that level Lol, but just the concept of it is crazy, but that’s just me. Most people couldn’t be bothered either way, just as long as they roll out the hits.
Amazing, incredible song! Reminds me so much of my teen years. Saw them perform this live in the Agent Provocateur Tour. They also brought a local high school choir on stage to perform with them. Another smash power ballad of their's from earlier in their career is I've Been Waiting for a Girl Like You. And my FAVORITE tune from them that definitely needs a reaction is Jukebox Hero. Totally cool rocker from their Urgent days.
Hey, where's Ty? 😁🤣 [Edit] Lou Gramm is one of the best vocalists ever. It's a beautiful song. You've already done my favorite Foreigner song (Urgent!), but maybe check out Hot Blooded next.
Another great Foreigner slow song is the hauntingly beautiful "I've Been Waiting for a Girl Like You," which was No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart for 10 weeks. But I think you need to react to another fast rock song by Foreigner next, such as "Hot Blooded," in order to appease most Foreigner fans.🙂
So many good memories listening to this and other songs from them. Cruising the local strip, at a creek party drinking Boons Farm Strawberry Hill or getting some sun sitting on the dock of our pond. Good times!! Great music!!! Great reaction. Now, if ya haven't yet, you should react to Waiting For A Girl Like You. Another classic ballad from them.
Very poignant lyrics and beautiful vocals. Lou Gramm is amazing. I like the “love in the world” message, of course, but this song conjures up thoughts about the romantic love that is hard to find. This is my idea of a long song.
It's heartbreaking to watch the video(s), hear on UA-cam, of Gramm talking about how Mick wanted to cut him out of any royalties or credit for the song, especially after such a powerhouse performance. Now wonder Gramm left just a couple years later. Foreigner without Gramm is not Foreigner.
Man, the memories! I saw the Agent Provocateur tour, I believe, in December 1984 - my senior year of high school in Greensboro, NC. A group by the name of "Giuffria" (sp?) opened for them & they were really good, having at least one song in the top 40....but Foreigner - WOW! They even had a local choir come on stage and sing this song with them. Their only other real ballad at the time was off their previous album, "4" titled "I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU". IMHO, that's their best & it would make for a good reaction - especially Thomas Dolby's eerie fade in on the synthesizer!!! It was unlike anything else short of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight. Some other pair of songs blocked it at #2, but it's my favorite Foreigner song. I'll keep watching to see if it ever makes the show!
Yeah, either cheddar or gouda for sure. As much as I love you guys, I almost didn't watch because of the song. Huge Foreigner fan, but this song pretty much gagged me. Glad y'all enjoyed it!! Oh, and for those asking, Ty moved for a great job opportunity, and goes back and records when he can.
Lou Gramm is to Foreigner as Steve Perry is to Journey.
You did great on your SATs , I bet 🎉
Two of the greatest!
So heartwarming😢
Foreigner: JUKE BOX HERO is a must.
One of those voices that stand the test of time.
I miss when music had the word "LOVE" in the title of the song
Lou Gramm has one of the best rock voices of all time. Great message.
For me the Mount Rushmore of rock singers is: Brad Delp, Brent Smith, Steve Perry, and...Lou Gramm.
@@pacard33Who's Brent Smith?
I will add Mickey Thomas
@@bobthebear1246 vocalist for Shinedown
@@jorgeosunaaguilar7408 good call. Underrated!
Lou Gramm man what a voice
Waiting for a girl like you is also a must!
"in my life"..... Chills everytime when he goes there!
Great Message!!!! One of Foreigners best songs 😊😊😊😊
I just love Nick so much: "It just goes to show that the world can be a better place, you guys. We just need to come together." Amen!
They found a black church that was being renovated so they rented it and invited members to join in as well as the chouir. As a thank you they paid for the repairs. I think it was in D.C.
LOVE THE VIDEO to this song!!!

This is an excellent ballad. Lou Gramm can sing anything. Thanks for sharing.
"Head Games" is great old school Foreigner.
Not cheesy at all. It's timeless. And Lou Gramm is amazing. ❤

Love this song ..love his scream near the end .😊
They have great vocals! Funny the way y'all describe things. Ooooo!
Not cheesy, someone around in the 80's. There are others that are.
That choir is the New Jersey choir 😉

This song lyrics is the cry of every human heart!!!! Classic and always good no matter how many times you hear it!!
Lou Gramm’s (Grammatico) voice is pure gold. And, he is a great guy!
Absolutely fire
Voted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week.
Iconic song!

Love Foreigner, need to listen to more. They have many good songs hot blooded, Cold as ice, Juke box hero , Waiting for a girl like you, Double Vision
******if you like his voice, he had a solo cd and you can put his one hit into your one hit wonders … Lou Graham midnight blue. Great song
Almost makes me tear up
Try Hot Blooded and Jukebox Hero. They have so many bangers you really can’t go wrong with
I never turn this song off .... I wait until it's over before moving on. Just hits every time.
I love foreigner I saw them back in high school they are Fire 🔥

Best slow dance song of the 80s
Loved your reaction...... Now I'll continue crying😥
Before we had Steve Perry we had Lou Gramm😎✌
Two very best!!!!
Great vocals and powerful ending.
Another banger by Foreigner is 'Juke Box Hero'

Oh this one is such a great song from Foreigner….😊
Love it and love his voice, he always makes me feel something! ❤
Lou MF Gramm! He has it all: tone, phrasing, soulfulness, versatility, dynamics, power. And he started out as a drummer! Happy 2024, guys!
Lou Gramm has always been my favorite singer. I had to stop everything to watch your reaction. There's no way you 2 wouldn't love a Foreigner ballad.
Lou Graham is ridiculously good on every album from the 80’s. He’s got a way of being haunting and powerful in this song. That’s not easy at all. 😊❤
Great video and reaction.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. Universal love!
Absolutely Wonderful Song . 💗👌✨🙏✨

Foreigner is a Force in R&R.
I love the choir element. It goes with his voice so well.
Lou Gramm. He has the best rock voice hands down.
You could try sometime their oldie one, Starrider, which is my personal favorite Foreigner.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't have expected them to do this. It's a great song but a bit soft.
@@bobthebear1246yea I agreed
They have done a lot of soft songs..
Nothing wrong with it..They do all kinds of music soft and hard rock..

Good video! It was overplayed at the time but I really appreciate it more now.
Driving when this came out..blaring the stereo was 🔥🔥💜💜
Hey, where's Ty? 😁🤣
[Edit] Lou Gramm is one of the best vocalists ever. It's a beautiful song.
You've already done my favorite Foreigner song (Urgent!), but maybe check out Hot Blooded next.
According to Google, that was the New Jersey Mass Choir with the legendary Jennifer Holiday (from the musical Dream Girls).
Timeless great song. Truly shows how the power of music leads to happy life filling moments.

This song and "Waiting For A Girl Like You" are two of the best rock ballads about love ever composed.
This song has some history behind it according to Lou Gram. This pretty much did the band in.
Yep, shame on Mick for how he stiffed Lou on this (their biggest) hit of all time.
Miami Vice....that's what I think of when I hear this song❤❤❤❤❤
Although this is very popular it wouldn't make my foreigner top 20! You should check out Star Rider, my favorite Foreigner song!
