Yay this is a great band! I listen to their greatest hits all the time!!! 🎉 You are all smiles from the beginning! I love Southern Nights!!!! ❤❤❤ When they say "Miller's band was better than before." Then the horns come in (they are talking about Glen Miller's band). He has a great voice. Their harmonies are great Shows more in their other songs... Reminds me of my grandma's house so must have heard it there when I was a kid. I am a sucker for bands with a horn section. Guess what bands I like... I am surprised you have not heard that - that plays a lot!!! I did a karaoke duet of Lonesome Loser (one of their songs) with a friend once. Glad to see you in the video, Ty. Happy New Year all and many blessings in 2024!
I think it was Glenn Frey that once said that this is the only band whose harmonies The Eagles were jealous of. That is quite a compliment right there.
When Eagles and Little River Band toured together, each of the bands would stand outside the other's green room and listen to them warm up and say "Now that's how it's done!" Great mutual respect! Glenn Frey toured with LRB during his solo stretch too!
I’ve heard a comparison of this song to a Steely Dan if they weren’t so jaded. I’m not sure many people rival the harmonies of Steely Dan. As they say, Steely Dan is your favorite band’s favorite band.
Would love to hear your reaction to Little River Band - it's a long way there. What a masterpiece of music talent. Love the best music ever between 60s -80s. Will probably never hear this type of music & talent again at least in how it was played w/o a lot of computer enhancements. Just pure talent! Love your music reactions & for sharing the oldies. Priceless! 🙂 Makes my day! ❤
So right - if you haven’t already check out Little Ray Of Sunshine - Glenn recorded it with Axiom before he joined LRB. Written by Brian Cadd, I think. Great song
THE ONE SONG I WISH WOULD NEVER END...especially at the end where the trumpet picks up and literally dances you out the door - you and the one you love. ❤😊
😊 i grew up in the 70s loving the river band and steeley dan their music was mixed with jazz and soul and some rock me and my friends use to go to the rollerskating rink in newark when you had the 4 wheels on the skate we use to skate backwards to this song having some much fun growing up how beatliful love is i still play this everyday in oct 2024 i smile it takes me back when we skated to this song having so much fun now im 57 years old😊
What a pleasure it is to see the younger generation appreciate the amazing music that I grew up listening to that played on the radio daily. Great reaction guys.. 💯👏👍
They were a rare act. Always brimming with creativity. No one song is like another. "Cool Change" , "It's Not A Wonder", "Lady" to "It's A Long Way There" - crazy range. Very, very special band. We were so damn lucky to grow up with music like this.
It’s A Long Way There is THE masterpiece from these guys. They’ve rarely recorded a dud but to go back in the catalogue and listen to It’s A Long Way There is just an amazing experience
If you listen to the line “That’s the way it began, we were hand in hand, Glenn Miller band was better than before”, it is a reference to the Glenn Miller Band - a swing band from the 1930s-40s and they were wildly popular with songs like “In the mood”, “String of pearls” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000”. The saxophone riff right after this line is an homage to that sound.
Aussie in Thailand here. My British friend runs a live music pub in Bangkok - he was a teacher of fine musicians in the UK I gave him LRB Best of CD years ago and he played it everyday for 9 months at least.
A song about a couple who met in the 1940's with "Glen Miller's Band" of course reminiscing of that night. I enjoy how they use Big Band vocal harmonies as well as horns. More throwback than most people notice unless they are old as dirt as I am. LOL Pretty song and a big hit. Listen to some Glen Miller Orchestra. I believe that harmony "Night and Day" is a reference to the song of the same name which is a fire song in its own right. Glen Miller had a big hit with it. Sinatra kills it too.
I was 7 or 8 when this song came out -- this is the kind of stuff I grew up on. And people wonder why my generation rags so much on today's music. There's just no comparison.
Glenn Shorrock’s voice is literally Kerrygold. LRB has so many great yacht-rock songs. As much as I love hard rock, I am a sucker for this band. And they can ALL sing. I think Take It Easy On Me is a great one because it gives you a taste of the talent that runs through the band. Wayne Nelson has a fantastic solo part in that one. But you can just close your eyes and point to one of their songs and chances are it will be fantastic. I don’t think you could have chosen a better final song for 2023. Happy New Year, Nick, Ty and Ryan.
I really love watching you guys that are younger than me and a whole bunch of the other reaction channels, discovering music, the way it used to be without the computers without the auto tune, and just people with incredibly good songwriting incredibly good musical arrangement, and incredibly good engineers, putting it all together so much effort used to go into it in Music today has become disposable because technology has just made it to EZ. It’s so fun to watch people like you guys react to the stuff as you’re discovering it. It seems like music has lost some of that magic because of technology. We’ve traded the soul of music for the convenience of it.
Wow! Great reaction!!! Keep it up. Okay, my favorite...is another radio hit by these guys, but does not get the love that it deserves. Off cam...please check out their tune 'Happy Anniversary'. It is all about the bass and rocks. 'like totally, man!' We subscribed
13 year old me blasting this on my Walkman all summer long of 1982. My early teens was pure "eclectic" because our only English speaking FM radio station was the Armed Forces Network and the music, outside of Casey Kasem's Top 40 every Sunday afternoon changed genre's hourly. This song has been in my life since I purchased this album that summer and will remain until my dying breath...
It's been said that Frank Sinatra called Reminiscing "the best song written in the 1970's. He's also reported to have said he didn't cover it because he couldn't do the lead vocal justice. It's also true that John Lennon said Reminiscing was he and Yoko's favorite.
" It's also true that John Lennon said Reminiscing was he and Yoko's favorite." That is not true. It was May Pang that said it was her and John's favorite song during their 18-month fling however the dates don't jibe wih her story.
I know this song was not written about them but for some reason when I hear this song what comes to my mind courting days of George and Mary Bailey. It’s a wonderful life…it’s a wonderful song.
YAYYYYYYY, Ty is back!!! (weird for a grown man to care but he has a lot of charm and is the middle-man with a good voice). Each of you brings something different so there would be an emptiness if any of you were missing.
Saw LRB several years ago at Little River casino in manistee, Michigan. Don’t remember when ur over 5 years ago. Was supposed to go see them dec. 22 but had Covid!! They are amazing
I’ve heard this great song hundreds of times since it debuted back in the day,but it felt fresh again experiencing through your wonderful reactions. Great job guys!
I've heard Ryan reference Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile" several times since their reaction video. It seems he'd really like Hall & Oates' "Rich Girl" too when they get back around to those guys, if they haven't heard it.
I'm 63 and I'm reminiscing about when this first came out when I was too young to reminisce about anything :D Great song. You guys are my favorite reaction channel...love the positivity!
Reaction starts around 8 minutes in. We had to share the news about Ty before our usual intro. Happy New Year! 🎉
Little River Band "It's a Long Way There" you gotta do the studio extended version. You're welcome in advance. 😎✌ Happy New Year 🎶
Happy new year out to the gang and all the people 3 hours ahead of us!!
I'm glad to see you again, Ty. Congrats on the good job. Any certain parts of NC you frequent?

Very cool song!
"Cool Change" is my favorite. I catch my husband singing "Lonesome Loser" a lot around the house. I can't imagine anyone not liking this band.
that's my favorite as well
cool change is fantastic.
Love him more.
I think it was Glenn Frey that once said that this is the only band whose harmonies The Eagles were jealous of. That is quite a compliment right there.
That and John Lennon liked it it was my mother's favorite song too I think about her when I hear it

You can't go wrong with any of Little River Band's songs. One of my very favorite bands from my teenage years. Their songs stand the test of time.

Little River Band's harmonies don't take a backseat to anyone else.
They have so many great songs. Glad you all really liked them. Hope you do "Lonesome Loser" next.
Yes! That's a great one, too!
I always forget that is their song. Love that one too!
The Little River Band is a *sleeper.* They had such funky, jazzy, yet folksy feel to it.

This was played on the R&B radio in Savannah, GA when it came out. Beautiful song.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I LOVE Little River Band. Great reaction. Good to see Tyler on the set.
Same here!
I'm an Aussie and have loved them for so long
They were a rare act. Always brimming with creativity. No one song is like another. "Cool Change" , "It's Not A Wonder", "Lady" to "It's A Long Way There" - crazy range. Very, very special band. We were so damn lucky to grow up with music like this.
Some other songs from LRB to hit are "Lonesome Loser", "Take It Easy On Me", "Lady", "Man On Your Mind", "Cool Change".
Very correct selections. You have a head on your shoulders.
“Lonesome Loser” and “Cool Change” are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s A Long Way There is THE masterpiece from these guys. They’ve rarely recorded a dud but to go back in the catalogue and listen to It’s A Long Way There is just an amazing experience
I disagree. Overall, this song is by far their best.
@@jessieball6195 The best of the rest. It's a Long Way There actually is a masterpiece.
@@floydster23The extended version

Love this song. I feel 19 again listening to this. The 70s ruled. The music, the parties, the dope, the vibe, everything.
Radio was alive....& A treasure trove of the singer-songwriter genre
I’ve always got little river band loaded up and ready to go, got 6 disc’s ready right now
Happy Anniversary is my favorite. The bass kicks ass!!
Cool, smooth, sophisticated, vibe..
. Always loved this.... Puts you somewhere like the best ones always do......
😂 The 3 Amigos are back 👏👏👏

A String of Pearls
LRB is a rabbit hole you need to go down. The album version of it's a long way there will blow your minds!!!
Great review guys....as we say here in NZ...o for owesome 😊
It's A Long Way There (extended version). This song shows them at their best
That was going to be my comment.
Hey Ty, miss you man 🙏👍
Aussie in Thailand here. My British friend runs a live music pub in Bangkok - he was a teacher of fine musicians in the UK I gave him LRB Best of CD years ago and he played it everyday for 9 months at least.

Reminiscing, John Lennons favorite song and one of my ten best ever, headphones candy.
YES! Love them! I still have their Greatest Hits Cassette..Cool Change is my favorite! Talk about smooth!
Growing up in the 70’s was the best - so much diverse music.
I was 7 or 8 when this song came out -- this is the kind of stuff I grew up on. And people wonder why my generation rags so much on today's music. There's just no comparison.
Welcome back Ty. Isn’t this a good time too for some more Toto! 😁
They have some absolute pearlers. Lady. It's A Long Way There.

LRB is the kind of band with timeless music that can put you in a better mood no matter what kind of day you have had...
Glen Shorrock has such a great voice, and LRB has so many wonderful songs! Try Cool Change, Lonesome Loser and Lady. They are ALL fantastic!
So happy to see Ty back!
"Lady" is awesome as well!
England Dan and John Ford Coley is another group that helped shape my musical interests. "I'd really love to see you tonight"
Good seeing Ty back again. You guys are the best.

My top three favorite bands of all time.
I think part of the reason why you guys also loved the song is all three of you are so happy to be hanging out again.
Wow! Great reaction!!! Keep it up. Okay, my favorite...is another radio hit by these guys, but does not get the love that it deserves.

Well! That song, Reminiscing, is soft rock but explosively emotional and happy.
Great Song by LRB. You should review their very first hit off their first Album. "It's a Long Way There".

Guys, if you love this you have to listen to POCO "Heart of the night" it will be right there with this one 💯
Cool Change is their best, in my opinion… but there are so many others. Great choice for a starter!
Or Long Way There. Brilliant guitar work on that one.
I've heard Ryan reference Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile" several times since their reaction video. It seems he'd really like Hall & Oates' "Rich Girl" too when they get back around to those guys, if they haven't heard it.
