I'm so glad you enjoyed our Christmas Market! The candied almonds are from a famous guy. The line is always long but worth the wait. Come back after Christmas and we will show you around 😊

That's cool they're from a famous guy! The line was so long all day, so it makes sense! We'll definitely be making another trip out to Braunschweig!

Hi Emma, would you know if there are many stands with arts & crafts at the christmas market? Not just food, drink and leather bags :) but real crafty things?
      Thank you.

Nice video, and thanks for your enthusiasm over Braunschweig...my mother and Sister's hometown! I relied on a number of Braunschweig childhood Christmas market memories when I helped St. Paul (MN) with their own market. There are so many great markets being put on in the US right now, but nothing can ever compare to the medieval architecture of European cities as a backdrop.

Braunschweig is not a "Small Town"...it has 250 000 residents! Up until the 30 years war (1618-1648) it was the major city in this Part of Germany. The most famous Duke was Heinrich der Löwe (1129-1195) who financed the building of the Cathedral and the palace. He married an English princess, but argued too much with his Cousin , Fredrick Barbarossa and was forced to go in Exil to England. Unfortunately the Duke's Palace from the 19th Century was destroyed in WW II and the facade was reconstructbed, but the building itself is a shopping mall, very boring...it all seems fake. Otherwise Braunschweig is interesting and has some good Museums. Your Son Looks nice an comfortable. Ha

Thanks for the history on Braunschweig! We knew it had an interesting history and definitely want to go back to see more of the city and not just the market! We also realized it's not a small town😂

More minor details. The Dukes of Brunswick-Lunenburg made a tremendous career. One of that family, Ernst-August*, got married to some Sophie, the daughter of another German prince whose mother was Elizabeth Stuart, sister to the unhappy Charles the First. And that is why Sopie's son Georg Ludwig became George the First when Queen Anne had died without an heir. During Sophie's and Ernst-August's reign the newly built palace of Hanover (Herrenhausen) with its huge baroque garden became the main residence of the Brunswick-Lunenburgs and that is why it became customary even in their lifetime to speak of the House of Hanover.@@MYTravelBF

*There seems to be not a single male of that family that is not called Ernst-August to the present day.
