    You should’ve also mentioned Koblenz , Boppard & Deutsches Eck 😅. Due to my study purposes, I’ve been living in koblenz for the past few years and have been regularly traveling across this beautiful region, doing cycling tours and hiking in the surrounding mountains. The beauty of this region is simply breathtaking and you’ll have to see it with your own eyes to believe in it. This area definitely deserves more attention to attract more people who love quiet nature and mountains.
    Great video!

    I lived in Germany in 1981-83 while serving in the US Air Force at Ramstein AB. I'd ride the train almost every weekend from Landstuhl to Wiesbaden, where my former roommate from our previous base was stationed, at the now closed Lindsey Air Station. We spent a lot of time in Mainz, shopping, day drinking, going to every wine festival in the area. Purchased a car the 2nd year I was there, when my wife came to join me. We traveled up and down the Rhine from Heidelberg to Koblenz many times visiting every castle that was open to the public. It was easier to do by car, but as a tourist, you just can't beat the rail system in Europe!

    It‘ a great region and I appreciate living here. Andernach, Bacharach and Boppard are worth a visit, too, and you definitely shouldn‘t miss the famous city of Koblenz. But the other side of the river has so much that is worth seeing, too. The city of Wiesbaden, Hessias capital is definitely worth stopping by as well as the towns of Eltville and Rüdesheim with the famous Germania-Statue and the Drosselgasse. Also towns like Linz and Königswinter with the Drachenfels castle and railway are waiting for your visit.
    And here’s an extra tip: From July till September, every year, there are fireworks events in different town in the middle Rhine every few weekends. You can watch them from a boat or from the landside and there is always a framework program in thenhosting cities.
    Come by some time!

    1:48 that depends on which train you take as there are 2 passenger railways, one on each side, that go south from cologne along the rhine and they serve different lines. But you will quickly realize on which side your on :D

    I used to live in the Rhine Valley. Wiesbaden and Kiedrich to be exact. The way to see it is NOT by train. You will see maybe 1% of the countryside and the river, going by at a fast pace. I don't know where she gets the three hours from. The train looked like it was going about a 100 mph. The way to see the area is by car. The guide went from Cologne to St. Goar and then all the way to Bingen, which is just about at the end of the castle route, then Mainz. She missed dozens of attractions along the way. And who doesn't know about Riesling wine?

    Like 10 years ago I did that trip by bike. Was a really nice scenery, the only annoying part was the traffic. There is a lot going on along the Rhein and the vally in parts becomes rather narrow. So all the road and train traffic is really concentrated (which probably does not bother you when you are in a car or train, but is you are on a bike)... Still this stretch was probably the best part of our trip and also had the best night there, waking up in a tent right at a river beach of a sidearm of the Rhein was really, really great.

    I can totally agree! For me it`s as well germany`s most beautiful train route! I love to take it when I travel from my hometown near Dortmund to my residence in Heidelberg. The only thing I`m a little annoyed of is that this train does not have wifi, power sockets or toilets...but unless you don`t care about it and just want to watch the scenery I guess it`s totally fine for you. So comfortably speaking I`d prefer the route over Siegen and Frankfurt. It is definitely not as beautiful as the middle rhine route...but it`s more comfortable. But nonetheless....I`d suggest to everyone who lives near Cologne or Mainz to take this route once in your life

    • @vloplob
      @vloplob Рік тому +5

      Mainz is basically the southern end of the Middle Rhine Valley region. This specific regional train terminates in Mainz but there are others that go further. Make sure not to book a high speed ICE ticket, since those don´t drive along the river but on a secluded, more direct track. When you do the trip i´d also recommend hopping of in Koblenz and take the cable car up to the fortress.

    You miss a lot of great places like Koblenz and Bacharach ,Boppart Ingelheim - and in Mainz you just visit a hipster wine bar as it’s worst - it doesn’t stand for the wine culture in Mainz at all !!! Better you get in an old Wine Stube like “Zum Spiegel” or “Hottum” or sone other ones from the old centuries. And some extra information- Mainz isn’t only the wine capital from Germany , it’s also the home of the Men of the millennium “Gutenberg” and also a part of the UNESCO world heritage as one of the Jewish “SchUM” cities - and the home of Biontech as well 👍.
