I'm glad to see Alina is making videos here, she has a concise and easy to understand style of explaining insomnia issues.
I agree with everything said here about napping, and have experienced that feeling of pressure/test of sleep ability myself. Looking at it as simply a chance to rest helps take away some of that feeling of pressure, I sometimes put on a yoga nidra video to listen to when laying down, if I nap for a bit that is great, if not I at least took the time out of the day to practice some self-care.

For me, when i was on the insomnia journey, napping again for the first time again after 5 long agonizing months, was something that cheer me up when I was starting to get a hold of the program. It made me see that I could get back on track and gave me hope.

Thanks Alina. So great to see you here as well as your own channel. I’ve found massive value any time I’ve listened to you speaking on insomnia. * I’m definitely team ‘nap’! To rest during the day for me, is essential. It makes absolutely no difference to whether I sleep at night or not. I’d even stretch that to, if I don’t rest I feel more hyperarousal and it’s maybe more difficult to sleep. It’s just simply listening to my body. 🙏🏼

Spot on with my experience and thoughts .Still finding it better for me to get up from the couch than doze and start falling asleep at the TV .(earlier on in the night).
Thank you for a very good video.

I have a question about befriending wakefulness. I have insomnia for almost 5 years and I'm new to this but kind of hopeful.. I feel like I'm able to do some things in order to befriend wakefulness when I slept for about 4 hours and It's the middle of the night etc. But how could I befriend wakefulness when I'm going to sleep, it's late, and I'm really really tired. I obviously need to sleep. I'm exhausted.. and I want to sleep. I don't want to get out of bed or actually do anything I just want to / need to sleep. Thank you if you have an answer.
