  • In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the oil pan, and oil pan seal on a 2.7 L Ford eco-boost engine. These engines come in the Ford 150, Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKZ, vehicles starting in 2015. A oil pan leak is a very common problem with these motors and if not repaired correctly and timely can lead to serious engine failure. As you may or may not know the oil pans on these vehicles are plastic and if not torqued down correctly, can leak. It’s also important to note you should never reuse these oil pans. Ford specifically states that the oil pan is a one time use part and cannot be used and reused again. Below are the links to the parts and tools used in this video. I hope you found it helpful. Please like and subscribe. Thank you for watching
Due to ford being difficult, i am unable to post the link to the proper oil pan bolt toque sequence. start in the middle and work towards the edge bolts, alternating sides on each bolt. torque spec is 89 in lbs, NOT 89 FT LBS.

They didn’t even hesitate to do the work, which surprised me after all the horrible things I’ve heard from others when it comes to dealer doing the work. Keep up the great work! 👍

We have 6 2018 F150s 2.7 in the fleet. So far so good (knock on wood). One leaking oil pan at 124K miles and One turbo inlet hose failure at 65K. They have been reliable trucks with basic maintenance. These 6 cylinder 2.7 trucks are torque work horses and get the job done. Mid to late 30s OTD new and cheap to fix / maintain comparing our diesel fleet repair cost. Thanks for the post Aaron.

Just a suggestion for anyone who's going to do this job themselves or at a shop.
    1. Remove pan and let oil drip out for 24 hours.
    2. Make sure the surface is clean, AND WITHOUT ANY OIL when applying silicone
    3. After installing new pan let it dry for 24 hours before putting new oil.
That's what I've done, it's been 2 weeks and no oil leaks.
    Good luck.

I’ve called tons of the aftermarket companies in the game and none them make it for the 2.7 only the 3.5. And I agree there is plenty of sales to be made on these pans. I for one would buy one fast. They need to realize a lot of people have wised up with smaller engine for better gas. Is it too much to ask for a engine not to leak oil?

Metal pan with gasket would solve a lot of problems. Would also avoid a lot of angry conversations with Ford. Have never had this problem with my oil pan. 280k miles on my Sierra. Don't get me wrong, this is just a dumb move on Ford's part.

Literally just finished my AWD Edge Sport. You must drop the subframe to allow room to shimmy the pan sideways over the sub-frame and then back under the exhaust pipe after the Cat. the sub-frame can be lowered so its just hanging from its bolts. Disconnect the subframe from the trans mount first.

Makes no sense whatsoever. If Ford just wanted to save weight, they should've put an aluminum oil pan on an aluminum engine using nothing other than anaerobic gasket maker for the seal. Unless oil pan sustains a major impact, anaerobic sealer is damn near impossible to break. In know this from personal experience because this is what my heavy duty diesel engine in my semi-truck uses, no leaks going on 1.3-million miles.

Full Synthetic 5w30 is overkill for these engines Ford engineered these engines to run synthetic blend from the factory even Motorcraft has further made it easier by selling Motorcraft oil 5w30 in a synthetic blend formulation.Stick to what Ford recommends they know what works best for these trucks.
