This song is one of my favorite songs from video game music as a whole. I love Gusty Garden Galaxy. While I'm not sure the level is the most memorable place ever, I think this song is one of the most memorable songs from Mario Galaxy, and does an excellent job of encapsulating the feeling of adventure that you're supposed to feel while playing the game. With that idea in mind, I wanted to try something that I've never done before on this channel.
I'm not exactly sure what to call this type of medley - the closest thing I can think of is an "arrangement medley". Basically, I listened through a bunch of fantastic songs from the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack and identified the compositional elements that give each song their own unique identity, and applied those compositional elements to Gusty Garden! I'd love to do more of this style of arrangement with other game soundtracks - it's a good way to show some appreciation to other songs in a game's soundtrack without necessarily having to transcribe all of them and arrange them in a seamless medley! I'd love to hear your feedback on this arrangement style. Thanks for watching (and reading this far if you have!)

insaneintherainmusic As someone with no musical knowledge, the one thing I'd love is a little follow up video on what you did to make each of the galaxy styles sound so much like the original. Because I hear the "soul" of the original galaxies in the melody of Gusty Garden. It's absolutely phenomenal.

This absolutely is the defining song of the game. Every time I hear it I am reminded of my first time playing the game upon its release. Mario Galaxy is one of my favorite games of all time without a doubt and you did this beautiful track justice in the best way possible. Thank you so much for this.

I’m going to have to pay more attention to the piano and bass when I listen to this. I realize now that they’re what really tells you which galaxy he’s trying to express through gusty garden. Like the series of rising and falling notes that define buoy base.

This is amazing. The galaxy soundtracks are just amazing, and hearing a (non lo-fi) galaxy cover is just great. And the idea to change it to match other galaxies is just so clever. I think I found a new favorite cover from you. I'm just kinda shocked there's no purple comet considering that song uses part of gusty garden.

Mariomaniac88 I love the Purple Comet's little section of Gusty Garden (in fact, the Purple Comet theme is probably one of my favorite pieces from the game alongside this) but maybe it would be too...unchill for this?
Granted, he's managed to make Melty Molten and Battlerock sound relaxing as hell. But the Purple Comet is definitely more...bombastic.

I listen to this recording very often, but sometimes I’ll listen when I’m having a very hard time keeping positive. I can’t remember the last time I’ve listened to this during one of those hard times where I didn’t start to cry, and more hopeful thoughts didn’t start rushing back into my mind. Amazing work on this! The video effects and adding in gameplay footage was a really nice touch and likely helped your viewers that aren't as intimately familiar with the themes/styles of each galaxy. If you do another medley like this, it might be a cool effect to play with changing the sound to be more muffled and echo-y when the gameplay footage has the player underwater (a la Mario, Banjo-Kazooie, and plenty others), especially since in this one you included two different water based galaxies. Just a thought though; I love listening to and watching your arrangements! Keep up the amazing work!

I love this arrangement so much! I am a percussionist who is about to be a senior in high school and my school has something we call Drumshow each year. I have been a part of it since my freshman year (literally living my dream that started way back in 2013 when i saw my first Drumshow). I really want to arrange something for it and I decided on arranging Gusty Garden Galaxy because its a really good piece and it will make my Drumshow experience come full circle by connecting it back to a song of my childhood. I would really love to arrange this version as it is so unique and it includes more than just Gusty Garden Galaxy so it'll include more of my childhood. Long story short, I love this arrangement and would love to arrange it for a full percussion ensemble if I have your permission to do so. As a musician and an arranger, I would feel much better about arranging it knowing I'm given the go-ahead because you truly deserve the credit for this incredible arrangement!

i think the little video screen was important for people who haven't played the games before, but you're right - I think I'd edit things slightly differently in the future to avoid having the gameplay footage cover up the other shots!
This is hands down the most interesting arrangement you've produced for the channel! I love how the GGG medley fits so well with the tones and styles of the other galaxies you've reworked it into.

My dad has a ton of soundtracks and soundtrack arrangements installed in his car and one day we were driving and this came on and I recognized the song, but had never heard this cover. I was instantly intrigued to listen to more of your music and now I've listened to a ton of your arrangements and I am blown away at how they're always so consistently amazing. Years later I came back to this song and it's still amazing! Keep up the great work, man!

Its was Christmas morning and I somehow woke up to Gusty Garden cuz the soundtrack of 3D AllStars on auto play and let me tell yeah...
It was one hell emotional morning. It was like opening an emotional flood gate, on a bright morning and as you looked outside, it started to snow again. It was one amazing nostalgia trip, enough to make anyone cry/year up.

I think many people that haven't played Super Mario Galaxy would have a hard time understanding the meaning of different sections of this arrangement without the gameplay footage a reference, so that's why I included it!

How have I not thought of this?! This is actually genius, Carlos, no joke. I believe the way you executed it was incredibly smooth, as I could hear some of the individual elements from each galaxy. The only thing that I might've done is include actual parts from some of the galaxies in their parts. Maybe a three to five second long segment from Good Egg Galaxy during it's part and then a discrete yet noticeable transition into Gusty Garden again. What would be key to this approach is quantity. To not inundate the song with these segments would possibly make this even better. Overall, though, amazing job as always you insane droplet!

Gusty Garden is a very iconic piece in its own right, and I love your take on it. Too bad I haven't played the game yet so I can't appreciate the musical work that you've done with the other tracks. Your video makes me want to finally play it so I can come back to this video and see what you did. Even without knowing the other tracks the transformative work you've done is very enjoyable.
