    Alex, I have a question. I have heard many people talk about RLT in connection with sunlight and the circadian rythm, but I don't understand why no one ever mentions campfires? We as humans have spent nights around campfires for hundreds of thousands of years, and it's one of the most relaxing, mesmerizing and soothing things there are, whether looking into the flames or a glowing bed of embers. Yet nobody seems to ask the question of how campfires affect melanin or mitochondria and all the known effects of RLT. Wouldn't it be interesting to see if the LED wavelengths that are used for RLT are present in open flames and glowing ember?

      Hey, yes good points. You may want to check out Sauna Space - aferg.co/1Uc5Bfu - I was speaking to the founder at the recent Health Optimisation Summit (recorded interview will be out soon!) and he referred to this exact phenomena - and the benefits associated with it. So you may want to keep an eye out for that video.
      His products are also designed to mimic the effects of a fire - with the heat and the light benefits.

    Not sure I learned his general recommendation of time and distance for therapeutic effect on a typical panel such as the Biomax 900 for example

    After watching this interview, I’d love to see you, Alex, do a full review of this IronForge soon. Looks very promising for someone like me with limited time & space, that’s already sold on Red Light Therapy! I’m hoping you can “get your hands on one of these,” lol, with a discount code as well! Win/Win/Win

    Some of the studies used 633 red and 850 infared and a few other specific wavelengths. That's why it started there. But the studies have said the specific wavelength may be key

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  Рік тому

      Yes and 660 and 850nm are two of the cheapest/easily accessible LEDs to source as well.

    I have two criticisms of the Chroma. First, the industrial design includes bolts that stick out of the front, and snag in your hair as you move it around your body. Second and most annoying, there is a really long cable, which is good, but he put the switch all the way at the end of the cable, right next to where it plugs into the wall, so, you might as well just pull the plug when you get to the switch. I really don't understand why he didn't put a power switch on the actual device.

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  10 місяців тому

      Hey, yes I agree the bolts that protrude are not great. Mine get caught on things as well, and two off them seem to come lose a lot (I need to put some loc-tite on them).
      Cable - YES! that is a massive pet peeve of mine (I talk about it in my review - ua-cam.com/video/3PamzmX8c74/v-deo.html )
      It's a simple oversight, hopefully they fix it for the next version (though it doesn't help us!)

      Looking closely at this product & adding a couple of new features to make it a multi use item. As a competitive athlete I sincerely appreciate the time and engineering he has done & getting it to the point and getting the therapy done. Thank You for the work that has been done!

      @LightTherapyInsiders  3 місяці тому

      Hey, good question. I'm yet to test the vielight power output, but my guess is that the Ironforge is going to be a lot more powerful.

    Engineer meets biology. No clue about dose or frequency of application.

      I think this is an unfair comment. I welcome any feedback on the topic though? And am always keen to jump on a call to learn more about PBM and how everyday people can benefit from it.

      Precisely. When you consider that sunlight is about 100 mW/cm^2 and that the therapeutic wavelength range of 600 nm - 900nm is only about 35-40 mW/cm^2 , then none of these excessively high non-contact devices makes any sense.
      Exposing the skin to that much energy is unnatural and unsafe. Also, exposure time is considered a part of the ‘dose’, so simply increasing the intensity in order to lower the exposure time has been proven to be non-beneficial. There is a concept of ‘dose rate’ that must be factored in.
      Some individuals may experience some initial short term benefits using these devices, but I haven’t seen any scientific evidence that suggests that this is sustainable as a long term health routine.
