I really enjoyed this interview with Mr Caroll. He's interesting for big-picture, PBM industry knowledge. Learning about that will help me make a better purchase decision for my at-home treatment equipment.
I appreciate you bringing your viewers along your quest to learn about PBM and red light therapy. This interview had a lot of substance. Spending additional time with Mr Caroll to dive deeper into specific topics would be nice. (I've never considered reflection)
I like your personal testing of equipment, but there's also an intellectual bonus for your viewers when you interview these experts in the PBM field. It's gives us access to this subject in ways the regular person would never have. Keep on researching.... I want to continue to learn more!
    Thank you.

I will do my best to keep learning and sharing as much as I can with you all.
I have another great interview coming out this week as well, so stay tuned for that :)

Given the amount of light reflected off the skin (60-70%), would it then be better to have devices immediately on the skin so that the light has fewer directions to reflect to?

    • @Licoricedisc
      @Licoricedisc Рік тому +1

Actually, more like 70% - 80% (@ 32:50 time stamp of the video) and I believe it to be closer to 90% and above for open light panels.
While watching the interview I was hoping questions relating to the information Mr. Carroll was referring would be asked so it could be correlated to open LED panels.
      Hopefully in a follow-up interview :)

Hey yes this is something I'm planning on exploring more. What I know is that myself and 100's (even 1000's) of others are having tremendous benefits by using a panel at say 6-12 inches. But of course this doesn't mean that it's better to have the light away from the skin. And then could you simply just stand closer to the panel and have the lights hard up agaisnt the body to minimise reflection anyway?
Lots to explore here. When I have a better understanding I will do a video on it.

Such a fascinating interview. I feel blessed that I have access to a NovoThor locally, and while the typical setting is for 16 min, I've gotten the facility I use to increase my session to 20 minutes, so was great to hear James say he uses the booth for 20 minutes. Sadly, I am definitely not able to use the bed every single day (cost prohibitive). I will however continue to integrate the NovoThor into my usage even as I build out a home system. I was glad to hear James discuss the cumulative benefit of RLT.

Exceptional interview. So much more to dive into - if there are 30 minutes sprints. I think it would be helpful to gain deeper understanding how (dosing, wavelengths and treatment times) helps both as a preventative / aging solution (e.g., stem cell production) and for recovery following surgery or trauma. Also interested in how it’s being used as a complementary to other therapies such as methylene blue for brain health. Curious as to what wavelength he’s using for his helmet.

In your previous video, "Mask VS Panel", my statement of 90% - 95% skin reflection losses was directed at open LED panels specifically, as you also have light divergence. Devices like James Carrolls therapy bed reflect the light back and forth and I assume there are less losses with that device when compared to an open panel, and devices that are positioned directly on the skin, especially lasers, which their light is 'in-phase' and not divergent, would have lower skin reflection losses.
In this video interview with James Carroll, he corroborates this with his statement of 70% - 80% skin reflection, (@ 32:50 timing point in the video and other places) which I'm assuming was from the device being measured at/near the surface of the skin.
I was surprised at that point in the video/interview, that you did not ask him more questions about skin reflection, as it relates to open LED panels, that is one of the most important things that is needed to know about light panels.
Most viewers of your videos use light panels, at your recommendation, for years... and most all of your previous videos are about light panels and these panels are a huge investment. I know, as I have (8) 12"x36" panels and (2) 12"x20" panels, plus an assortment of pads. It would be very much appreciative if in your interviews and more videos that the material and questioning could be also directed specifically for open LED light panels.
These videos are great and informative, but without any reference at how it relates to panels, we are just spinning our wheels and guessing at best and proper use.
Very much looking forward to a follow-up video with James Carroll and future videos with other subject matter experts.

Hey, sorry for the late response. I was away for 2 weeks, and fell so behind in my emails and YT comments.
Yeah the bed does a great job of 'trapping' that light, which is something I hadn't really thought about until he shared his numbers in this interview.
I also recently interviewed Dr Randy Beck (interview will be up next week) and he was a big proponent of lasers over LEDs for the reason you mentioned above.
I'm going to chat to James again and dive more into this skin reflection topic - as yes it is a potential game changer in terms of optimum products. Maybe these lower powered LED mats for instance are going to provide much better value?
I do know though, that I and many others have had amazing results with LED panels - but still, if we're paying extra for something that we dont' need then of course this needs to be made clear. I need to learn more myself before I can make suggestions like that.
Stay tuned, I will be exploring this in more detail :)

What about creating an angled reflective box around LED light panels? The cheap way would be to cover cardboard in foil. Or buy several car windshield silver covers?

I loved this! I'd be very interested in those segmental sessions. The topic I'd most like to know more about is dosing. I was surprised to find out that even if the j/cm2 is the same, the effect varies widely according to the irradiance. Another topic I'd be really interested in is using red light for anti-aging. I don't want to sound vain, but it's actually the primary reason I bought my panel, and James just got my hopes up even more by telling us how his red light routine has stopped his hair falling out or going grey. He looks amazing too. I wish I had a NovoTHOR at home.

For a therapeutic dose of between 60-80 joules, my timing and distance is around 378-438 seconds depending on whether 6” or 12” away from Biomax 900 panel. Around 6-7 minutes range per area. Couldn’t determine whether this interview contradicted or confirmed a similar protocol.

Great vid! Thanks! I'm interested in replies from anyone on 2 things:
    1) I can buy a full body length panel from Hooga with only 2 wavelengths for much less than an equivalent size/# of LEDs from Mitored or PlatinumLED which have 4 or 5 wavelengths. There's a big price difference. The size for full body radiation (to save time) and cost are important to me, so I'm leaning towards the Hooga, but maybe that would be a mistake (to miss out on the other wavelengths).
    2) MitoRed and Hooga both sell smaller panels that can be modularly combined... OR they also sell XL panels for about the same price as the combined cost of the smaller panels. Any advice on which size to go with if I intend to buy them all at once? Maybe the smaller ones are safer in shipping? Or if one breaks, then the entire panel does not break (breaks from normal use, not physical damage) unlike if the XL panel breaks, then the whole thing may be useless. What are some of the advantages of the XL panels versus several modular panels arranged together, besides looking better? Also, seems like 3rd party stands are better than any of those from these redlight companies. Would like a stand that can swivel/rotate from vertical to horizontal instead of requiring choosing an orientation that takes time and effort to change.

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  Рік тому +1

      Hey,
      1) If cost is the limiting factor - go with Hooga. Sure you may miss out on a few bells and whistles but the extra size and lower price point are priority here.
      2) The smaller ones are easier to deal with freight wise and also handling/setup etc. BUT the larger ones as easier to setup and do have a better light coverage area. If you can afford it, just go with one giant one. You also have less 'gaps' in the light.
      Have a look at this:
      ua-cam.com/video/g0uZ-prIvPc/v-deo.html and
      ua-cam.com/video/uBJGcdxINU8/v-deo.html
If you find a 3rd party stand that works and is cheaper then yeah run with that :)

Some of them, the open panel that reflects less light; , so we have to exposure more time? pulsing vs continuous light; a topic I would like with him, is all about treatments with home panel devices (Opinions, time exposure for skin or therapeutic issues, reflection, etc).
