We're a small family farm in the Florida Panhandle. After relocating back home from the Middle East we wanted to build up the most self- sufficient lifestyle possible with our kids, in order to grow as much of our own food as possible. Through raising livestock, tending to a garden, preserving food through canning and fermenting, learning about local fauna for medicinals and wild edibles, we are hoping to encourage others to do as much as possible for themselves through re-learning some of the forgotten "old" skills.

My grandma's favorite
Soooo good
Can't wait to try this out. Wow what a rutabaga.
Hope you enjoy
My family of 7 loves vegetables, and they always ask for my cabbage bake.
I cut up cabbage, carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, garlic, squash, parsnips, and mix all in a pan. Sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. Then, cover with alfredo sauce and slice kielbasa and layer on top. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. Stir and bake another 30-45 minutes. (Remember, I have a huge family, so it's a HUGE roasting pan worth adjust to your families size or whateverveggies you have on hand.)
I serve with balsamic vinegar over the top. I saved this rice recipe, thank you so much!!!
I'll need to try that, sounds delicious!
Nicolle, i love your videos and cherish them greatly. The trouble with the English language is people who were born and raised here can't speak it properly either. Herbs, the H is silent. Salve, the L is silent. Salmon, the L is silent. It goes on and on. I had no idea that rice was a thing in Germany. I think of it as a southern thing. If you want to take it up a notch you might try serving your rice pudding with a whiskey sauce. You'll have to look that up. BTW there we go with the language again... whiskey or whisky? Depends if it's Irish or American. I love everything you folks do. Keep up the great work. It seems like your kids are about old enough to start their own channel. Hidden Oaks kids would go over great.
Ha, yes, they're slowly but surely growing into their own. Exploring future careers etc
PLEASE READ!!!! I have those same pans and when it gets the brown stuff stuck in bottom of inside or even on the outside I make the pan wet but dump out all excess water. Then, sprinkle with baking soda and use damp not wet scrubby, and it removes all that stuff as good as new ❤
I love cast iron, cause its good FOREVER
Yummie, I love it.
Thank you 😋
{H}erbs or Herbs... it is all safe. Silent H is typically American and pronounced with the H is typically UK. It depends on who your teacher was. I studied French from a fellow that studied in N France which is different from Canadian French which was three hours from where I grew up. I was always fascinated by the regional differences but when it comes down to brass tacks that is really all it is... REGIONAL. Neither right or wrong, just pick your favorite.
I have a spectrum of obsessive compulsive behaviors in the areas of pronunciation and vocabulary that occasionally reveals itself in my videos so I feel {self appointedly} that I have a little bit of authority in this area... XD
There are things that are truly right and wrong... for example: don't AX me a question, ASK me a question. :)
That's reassuring
@@HiddenOaksHomestead 😍😍😍
Nicolle, I really enjoyed watching you cook that. I'll have to try some. By the way, I make cinnamon sugar all the time. I love it on toast with butter. I've heard of vanilla sugar but I don't know if our stores carry it. Thanks for posting this - I didn't know you were going to go live.
I did a LIVE on fb. I haven't figured out how to go LIVE on multiple platforms at the same time.
You can easily make your own vanilla sugar
@@HiddenOaksHomestead oh, okay. thanks.
