I just want to express how much the video means to me. I have been dealing with diagnosed generalized anxiety for as long as I can remember. It has stopped me from doing so much, and living life to its fullest. I have experienced numerous panic attacks, and tried many breathing methods and other techniques. Thank you so much for sharing this video. I do sometimes feel that my throat is closing in, and keeping notes to myself should help me. I will try out these methods for sure. My panic attacks are usually triggered by hyperventilation syndrome, where I over-breath to the point where my hands and face are numb. What is happening is that I feel that I am not getting enough oxygen, so I hyperventilate, leading to a panic attack where I cannot control my breathing and enter the flight or fight mode. I would love if you have an ideas for dealing with this, or if you have any knowledge about hyperventilation syndrome. Again, thank you so much for opening up about your anxiety and being so brave! Trident is actually a sugar free gum, meaning it has aspartame. Apartame can actually trigger anxiety. Just a thing i learned not to long ago and thought for those who's anxiety could possibly be more sensitive, that sugar free products might not be the best choice. Edit: I'm not trying to shame anyone, its just something i thought someone could benefit by knowing
Most dont because aspartame is actually a sweetener that is supposed to replace sugar. So i think any type that is not sugar free is fine for the most part. The nutrition label should say if it does have or not though.
This inspired me to make my own Anxiety Kit for high school! The items are around the same idea as this video. I have a lavender scented rub-on oil that you put on like a perfume. It's the same idea as the essential oil but it's a bit easier for me to put on at my desk. I put in some mint gum since chewing on gum distracts and calms me, and if I'm in a very strict teacher's class where they don't permit gum, I also have mints that has the generally same effect. I also have some lollipops because candies relax me in a strange way. I have a small notebook and a few colorful pens to write and calm down. Looking at colors makes me feel happy so that helps. I also have my inhaler in there because I have asthma that reacts when I have an anxiety attack. I usually have my ear buds on me at all time so that isn't in there much but I do have some hair clips and alastics to put my hair back if I need to calm down. I also have a very small plushie keychain kind of thing that I like to look at and just sort of hug. It sounds weird but... it helps.

well I think that sharing sometimes is great to do I have a blog on facebook anyone can read what i put on there its called "A day in my life with mental illness" it is just how I am feeling and things like that I do it for myself mainly but if it help others then that is great it is also is good if you dont like talk face to face with people having an online blog and it being open to whoever is good cause then its like your talking to people but dont have to let them see you i find it helps me i can go back and look at what i was feeling and see what helped but keep up the good work on your videos cause there really isnt much out there
I remember making "Girl survival kits," they had dumb stuff like a tiny hair comb and lipstick when I honestly never needed to comb my hair on the go and I don't wear makeup. I just liked getting helpful things and fitting them into makeup bags. I don't have any anxiety disorders or something, but I would say I get anxious, like, panic attacks in big groups and crying that I'm not good enough when I get less than an A on a test, and I think something like this might help me a lot. 🙃

Am I the only person who freaks out more/has even more anxiety when listening to music with earbuds/headphones. I hate it cause I really like listening to music, but whenever I do it in public I feel like I cannot breath.

Hey Caitt, I might be wrong, but maybe use another pen for drawing on yourself? Sharpie is kinda permanent, I don't know if it happens to you, but whenever I draw on myself with sharpie it doesn't come off easily. Just an idea, no hate or shade whatsoever. Thank you for your time, if you see this!

For me,mints or hard candy helps my anxiety a bit. I discovered Wilhelmina mints at Trader Joe's and they are my favorite. I also found sour jolly ranchers help me a lot; they make me feel more focused. We all have something that helps us!

I have not diagnosed yet but going through the process of being diagnosed with autism or Aspergers but I have really bad anxiety I haven’t had a panic attack yet but it getting to the point where I think I may have one yeah and I’m making a anxiety kit to mine contains of many fidget items for I fiddle with my hands and crunch up my legs to the point where they are stuck in that position I am so proud of this network we have I am ten now it has been taking a while to get diagnosed but luckily I have a good support group and ye I also struggle with and sleep due to the anxiety 😥 so I’m awfully tired usually my anxiety caused by no sleep is thinking about what will happen the next day but I’m terrible in public situations none of my friends really understand (I don’t expect them to) I learnt the word anxiety Autism and mental health from a very young age let’s all unite to save our souls in my anxiety kit I also have quotes and things that I have wrote like you do on your arms anyway enough of me nattering . Okay I’m 11 and I think I have anxiety bc I searched up the symptoms and I have like all.. but I don’t know how to ask my mom that I want to take an actual test... also any fidget toys do you recommend?
Hi Mia! I was diagnosed by my primary care doctor, and found a therapist after to help me manage my anxiety more than I was on my own. You can ask your mom if you can go talk to your doctor about how you’re feeling, I’m sure she will want to help make you feel better and less anxious! I get so nervous when my teacher is taking the class register cause I’m afraid that people will like laugh if my throat sounds scratchy it’s sometimes hard to calm down I usually just ask to go to the bathroom and then I start breathing heavily feel a little sick and dizzy and I just wish to go home where no one can see or hear me idk if this is normal or not

Omg I write on myself too or on paper 📑 and I like to color ,I have gum,lollipops,cough drops ,ginger candy,altoids. Lavender,and a cup for ice or water . I noticed chewing on ice calms me down .
When I have an anxiety attack I don't just count to 10 or 20 or whatever number you like counting to, I give the numbers genders along the way. Or I count the alphabet, but give them names. It really gives me something to consentrate on, but it also is something funny or ridiculous, so not only does it grab my attention, but I find the idea of 5 being a girl kind of funny and it helps when I start to break down.

I'm buying fidgets from eBay for my social anxiety because I get sore throats and I cry an I can't breathe properly when I'm in big crowds. Even when the teacher calls in me I forget how to speak an I go all sweaty and I g et a sore throat
if you need something in your mouth if you bite your lips or anything they have chewerly necklaces and you can chew on it. they have so many different ones too!

Am I the only person who freaks out more/has even more anxiety when listening to music with earbuds/headphones. I hate it cause I really like listening to music, but whenever I do it in public I feel like I cannot breath.
I also have this issue. I feel isolated or claustrophobic or something 😥
I have never heard anyone else mention it, it's nice to know it's not just me!

Hey Caitt, I might be wrong, but maybe use another pen for drawing on yourself? Sharpie is kinda permanent, I don't know if it happens to you, but whenever I draw on myself with sharpie it doesn't come off easily. Just an idea, no hate or shade whatsoever. Thank you for your time, if you see this!

For me,mints or hard candy helps my anxiety a bit. I discovered Wilhelmina mints at Trader Joe's and they are my favorite.
I also found sour jolly ranchers help me a lot; they make me feel more focused. We all have something that helps us!
How do you get diagnosed with anxiety? My mom knows it and my doctor knows I’m not myself but now I need to go to a psychiatrist but I’m scared they will not do anything....

I have not diagnosed yet but going through the process of being diagnosed with autism or Aspergers but I have really bad anxiety I haven’t had a panic attack yet but it getting to the point where I think I may have one yeah and I’m making a anxiety kit to mine contains of many fidget items for I fiddle with my hands and crunch up my legs to the point where they are stuck in that position I am so proud of this network we have I am ten now it has been taking a while to get diagnosed but luckily I have a good support group and ye I also struggle with and sleep due to the anxiety 😥 so I’m awfully tired usually my anxiety caused by no sleep is thinking about what will happen the next day but I’m terrible in public situations none of my friends really understand (I don’t expect them to) I learnt the word anxiety Autism and mental health from a very young age let’s all unite to save our souls in my anxiety kit I also have quotes and things that I have wrote like you do on your arms anyway enough of me nattering .

Hi Mia! I was diagnosed by my primary care doctor, and found a therapist after to help me manage my anxiety more than I was on my own. You can ask your mom if you can go talk to your doctor about how you’re feeling, I’m sure she will want to help make you feel better and less anxious! I don’t use fidget toys but I have friends who love fidget cubes! I hope that helps & thank you so much for your comment!

I have autism ADHD emotional dissabitlity anxiaty disorder spd I'm making a sensory kit with my therapist
I get so nervous when my teacher is taking the class register cause I’m afraid that people will like laugh if my throat sounds scratchy it’s sometimes hard to calm down I usually just ask to go to the bathroom and then I start breathing heavily feel a little sick and dizzy and I just wish to go home where no one can see or hear me idk if this is normal or not

When I have a panic attack I watch these types of videos or I snuggle with my mom and sconce I keep everything sad and scary inside without talking to people I have the worst breakdowns and I feel like I can’t breath and I have no fidget toys so I need to get some but you helped me have an idea on what to have during a panic attack :)

Hello! I'm so happy this video is helping you prepare for school! One trick that always works for me is putting my hand on my heart and taking a deep breath in and out. I can feel my heart beat slow down which makes me feel much more calm and relaxed. I hope that helps and good luck in secondary school, you'll do amazing!!

Omg I write on myself too or on paper 📑 and I like to color ,I have gum,lollipops,cough drops ,ginger candy,altoids. Lavender,and a cup for ice or water . I noticed chewing on ice calms me down .
When I have an anxiety attack I don't just count to 10 or 20 or whatever number you like counting to, I give the numbers genders along the way. Or I count the alphabet, but give them names. It really gives me something to consentrate on, but it also is something funny or ridiculous, so not only does it grab my attention, but I find the idea of 5 being a girl kind of funny and it helps when I start to break down.

I'm buying fidgets from eBay for my social anxiety because I get sore throats and I cry an I can't breathe properly when I'm in big crowds. Even when the teacher calls in me I forget how to speak an I go all sweaty and I g et a sore throat
if you need something in your mouth if you bite your lips or anything they have chewerly necklaces and you can chew on it. they have so many different ones too!

I need cough drops too because my throat closes as well. I deal with my heart racing usually at night. I had heart tests and the doctors can't find anything. They just say anxiety.

Everyone I just wanna say that it is normal to get anxiety it just depends on how often you get it if you are worried with your anxiety just speak with your doctor and it’s alway good to take deep breaths I do them every time I get anxiety
Normally I can control my anxiety but sometimes I have major panic attacks in any pressured situation like 8m not good enough because my parents have a lot of expectations.So I start crying randomly and hyperventilating.So yea this really helps me know what I need to help me thanks :)
