Fun fact: Mikael’s voice actually sounds like this because it’s so godly. They have to edit out his natural reverb when recording songs.
I knew it!
All Hail Lord Akerfeldt
My parents have been following Iron Maiden for more than 40 years. Hopefully I'll get to do the same(and more) for Opeth :) Can't wait!!
aren't there rumors about this being the last album? I hope not though
Rumors man, this dude still has plenty of gas left in the tank lol
@@roybatty4578 i think so too, plus i heard he gets tired of touring easily
@@nostalcholy Yeah he mentions that alot in metal talks on spotify
As far as lyrics meaning in past albums, The Ghost Reveries to me was a hard hitting story of a girl who lost her mother and turned to Satan, and the whole album followed her journey until ultimately, she lost everything she loved as a result, which is suggested in "Isolation Years". That album meant a lot to me becuase it described a path I started to go down as a teen and traveled down at a faster rate for a while after losing my father. All of this band's albums are absolutely remarkable, though. It took me a while to warm up to In Cauda Venenum, but now I love it. Absolutely beautiful, and kudos to Mikael for writing everything himself and taking the reins with it. Really impressive.
Speaking as a young adult, it's easy to loose ourselves in useless stuff just as a form detatchment from the scary adult reality that we are just learning about. This transition from a careless teenager to a responsible adult is quite overwhelming. I try to spend majority of my Internet time learning about new things but sometimes I catch myself I'm falling into the hole of irrelevant things and loneliness, too.
I cannot wait for the 27th of September! I'm in love with these short bits of insight into the album - it makes the release so much more anticipated
Exactly! I've felt the same way!
I'm 26, and I still feel overwhelmed by the sobering reality of adulthood! I can barely wait for the album, myself. Cheers!
@@cobraimploder I'm turning 27 this year and Adulting Sucks!
All generations have their own unique worries and fears about growing up and being a responsible human. We will grow up regardless of our overwhelm, and far less prepared if we don't exercise some very difficult self-discipline. Avoidance actually compounds anxiety as consequences escalate. It takes a hell of a lot of willpower not to get caught up with useless distractions. No other generation has had to contend with the ever present blue light of technology. I honestly think procrastination and disconnection contribute to feelings of overwhelm, helplessness and poor self-image. Hiding out with technology isn't the solution. We will be forced to reckon with far more dire consequences if we cannot cultivate the focus for tasks which aren't bundled with instant gratification
@@CikisHelyzet That's one side but you're ignoring that no other generation has been in a deep mass extinction, access to information about wars all around the world, not every kid has the same issues
This is going to be a masterpiece
27th of September, new opeth album and my birthday, jackpot
The reason reaction videos are a thing is an extension of the loneliness issue. It's always cool to see people hear or see something for the first time if it affects them in some way. Similar thing for gaming videos. They are as irrelevant as reality tv but more personal. As for lyrics and meaning.. Opeths Music itself conveys feelings and stories that's the power of great music.
To me, All Things Will Pass is probably the song that reaches me the most, even though the whole album is amazing.
agreed
Can't wait for the new record to come out! From what i heard so far it reminds me of Pale Communion, and i love it!
Pale Communion is AMAZING. Probably my second favorite album by them.
@@Meister_Dwight yeah Is my favourite prog rock album too, my favourite melodic/prog metal album is Still Life tho
Opeth make a unique sound - Akerfeldt is one of real talents in rock.
Just one month,but i can't wait!
I think he came from that painting.......
God-Bless-You Mikael. Spot on with with the mental health comments.
I can’t wait for the album to release!!
also I want a Jacket like that! 🤘🏻
I Love Opeth.
Me too!!!
The Steven Wilson influence continues as these exact themes were explored in Hand Cannot Erase.
Cant wait to hear the final product!
pinnicktabor not really, just a coincidence perhaps.
This bloke is the absolute best. Well, him and Tim Smith (R.I.P).
It’s interesting to me that Mikael talks about loneliness.
I was listening to this album earlier today and part of the way through experiencing it I thought, "This music is taking me to a place where aloneness isn’t lonely. I’m in a place of beautiful, peaceful solitude."
It’s unusual that current/modern music is able to transport me like that. So I appreciate that extra level to the music. It’s an album that I can become very immersed in. Wonderful experience. 🖤
Come to Brazil!!!
I'm very interested in the new album lyrically since he has taken a new direction with it. There's nothing wrong with his old style, I enjoy the poetic and storytelling sort of lyrics myself, but this should be an interesting thing to hear his observations on the current world. He's spot on with the whole loneliness while being connected to everything and increase in mental illness thing.
I love him so much.
Love you
Mikael is very perceptive as well as a brilliant Musician...........
I'm with you on my fellow millenials (and younger) and their tablets, in 2019. I am excited for the new record.
The older Millenials like us share the distrust of Mikael's age group...
You are a true hero Mikael!
im from brazil and the first thing i noticed in sweden is that people dont talk to each other, loneliness is the standard (at least that is what i saw)
Swedes are a very lonely people. A sad fact.
É cultural ou escolha?
@@Gengibrecookie a escolha é cultural, eu diria. do que eu observei do meu tempo la, foi mais ou menos isso. a tecnologia também é um dos fatores que fazem isso acontecer
It's the Janteloven/Jantelagen subconsciously at work. "Why bother trying? You have no worth." And it's not just Swedes/Norse/Danish, it's happening in my country too. 😦
divinefallfromgrace thats a little misunderstanding about jantelagen. What it says is that you’re not born better or more worth than anybody else. You can still be very good at something, and develop a skill. you can be good at something if you practise and put a lot of effort in it, but it could also have been your neighbour in the same place. You’re not the center of the universe, basically! ;-)
The future is here old man ;)

If you're my age, *more than 74*
😍😍love you so much😍😍
Play the game Audiosurf to Opeth.
Mindshattering.
GODLIKE VOICE ahahahaha 🔥 My gadd. ahahaha so much vibration and Swedish accent. luv it.
Life is worth it maaan ahaha worth it ahaha listening to this guy.
Lonliness is a friend.
Loneliness is addictive
@@ioannaa0 Yes it is. Im Not meant for this world sadly.
You & me both . But at least we have great music to listen to hehe🎶
Are the Lepers still Coiling beneath the trees though?
Did he just say Snapchat??
when watching I thought "nice attitude, but isn't that very obvious?!" and then I remembered for people 3 yrs younger than me (I'm 25) it's clearly NOT and it really scares me
I wish he was my dad...
Me is lonely akerfeldt but me are dont alone when me listens to u music
It's kinda disappointing to know that many lyrics from Opeth doesn't have meaning, that they are mere hollow puzzle words.
Don't put to much faith in that, he was downplaying. A lot of what he writes is INTENSELY personal, and usually hidden in metaphor or allegory. A lot of such musicians/songwriters don't like to extensively discuss their most inner of workings... just like people at large. I do see what he's saying with some of his lyrics, but the likes of 'Still Life' and more modern stuff like 'Lovelorn Crime' and 'Universal Truth' are not lacking in meaning.
Is that his fucking house
Loneliness in sweden is subsidized by goverment for decades now. Half of households in sweden are single people..immigrant families are kinda helping tjat picture... But number of swedish families is droping a lot... Stop pay rent to single people
Reaction videos are annoying. I don't know how anyone could sit and watch them for more than 2 or 3 minutes without growing bored and moving on.
Opeth died when Lopez and Peter left. The last great album was Ghost Reveries! True Opeth fans would agree!
I disagree, man. Watershed was a beautiful record, too (though Ghost Reveries is undoubtedly my favourite). After that, there are occasional flashes of brilliance, but no single album has stood out as a definite masterpiece to me.
seriously shut the fuck up
I disagree. A real opeth fan likes new stuff too, and Pale Communion is one of their best records.
Look dude, I miss old opeth too but it’s not your band. There’s no reason to comment this stuff. If you don’t like it, don’t listen. Opeth owes nothing to anyone.
I'm sorry you feel that way, but to me, every Opeth album is a tale. They're all beautiful in their own ways. Try listening to an entire album instead of singling out certain tracks, and really feel the whole album with your heart.
