Dia daoibh 😊👋🏻 I want to do a Q&A video soon so if you have any questions that you would like answered, reply to this comment!
They can be about Irish 💚 (nothing that requires in-depth explanation), Ireland 🇮🇪 , me 😁 (no political questions).
PS I will be answering the questions in Irish! 😁 and including subtitles so it'll be my first video speaking ONLY in Irish!

I love the history us Scandinavians share with the Gaelic people and language. ☺️ It's really fun when I'm learning Irish and then a word pops up where you can absolutely see the Viking origins, like ag, ol, cainin, trall or pingin. It's history speaking to us through us 😌🇸🇪🇮🇪

Yes! I would love a video on each of the common prepositions - ar an, as an, leis an, thar an, do, ó, faoin, roimh an, de, i, etc.

In Russian we also don’t say “I have” like in English. We use preposition like in Irish.

Learning Irish has become my main pastime during Lockdown, I found a great course on futurelearn but still try to find a lot of other sources because they don't explain everything I want to know, so I love finding Irish content on UA-cam like yours. It's pure gold! And I would like to see all the videos you'll ever make.

I've found that combining resources, such as Futurelearn, DuoLingo, Rosetta stone, and the fabulous videos like this one, help fill in some of the holes.

Dia dhuit,Molly! Great video like always! You are really doing a great job by uploading these videos! In my humble opinion learning Irish is my duty, being an Irishman I must learn my language and speak it! It's a crying shame that I still can't speak Irish well, thus I really appreciate your videos and your knowledge of Irish! Good job! Is mór an trua nach féidir liom Gaelige a labhairt go maith! Is mór agam do chuid físeáin agus an t-eolas atá agat ar an nGaelige!
Míle buíochas agus slán go fóill!

Literally the most useful video about Irish language!!! I´ve been studying Irish for about a year from various materials but nowhere I could find when to use AG. So I wasn´t able to understand sentences I saw nor I was able to create some sentences on my own. But now I´m sure it will be much much more easier! GRMA and best regards from Slovakia! :-)

However, there is another way to express possession (ownership) in Irish, and it is construction with "Is le" (or with pronouns not just le but liom, leat, leis, etc.). For example: "Is liom é."

Thanks for the videos, I have a love of Irish, but don't know about the word groups like what pro noun means. I imagine I m not the only one: alas I am grateful for all Your videos. Can You give link that would help people like me: who only have experience of speaking language, if You get me. And also I feel that the Donegal ways of saying are different than other Counties. I m not being smart. Like the way I would say things as gsilugel. Can't spell it. Ta brom orm. I am really grateful for Your posts. Sincerely. Maybe can You do videos on the difference in pronounceation in regional difference. If that makes sense. 😊, I m 44 years old and had national school and nothing further. But my Nanny used to talk Irish to me all the time when I was with her. And we were not liveing in a gailutath. Can't spell if You get the jist. Either how I really appreciate Your videos. Be Well and may God be on You. Sincerely. Jjk, waterford.

Fuair mé d'fhíseáin inniu agus is míle maith liom iad. Míníonn tú gach rud go soiléir. Thosaigh mé foghlaim a labhairt as Gaeilge ar DuoLingo dhá bhliain ó shin. D'fhoghlaim mé cuid mór ach tá lear mór ar DuoLingo.
Sorry if that was somewhat garbled. I'm still not that great. That took *several* trips to the dictionary :-p
I'd definitely love a deep dive into all the prepositions. I have a lot of trouble with those. I haven't looked through all your back catalog, yet, so you may have done this already, but I'd love to see a good explanation of numbers. There's a lot to the way Irish does them that I find very counter-intuitive.

I loved this video, as I am an auditory learner more than a learner that writes things down unless it's spoken to me repeatedly and I write it down. But I have a question if you haven't posted a video yet.
What's the difference between at someone and with someone? Like, if I wanted to say my dog is with me, would it be "Tá mo mhadra agam" or would it be something like "Tá mo mhadra liom"?

    •  3 роки тому +3

On a linguistic note - I don't think it is quite correct to call verb-nouns in Celtic languages "gerunds", at least nobody else seems to. There is an increasing feeling not to impose Latin grammar on our languages. I decided not to sign up to futurelearn for more DCU courses. When I can start earning again (lockdown has been tough), I'll consider joining your Patreon instead as this suits my learning style better.

    •  3 роки тому
