Thanks, Todd. I help people with chronic joint pain and have really enjoyed your great videos. I struggled with chronic foot pain that required changes in diet, lifestyle, healing my gut, and changing my footwear and way that I walk. While I positively impacted my own healing based on my background and training, I greatly value your contribution, helping me correct my barefoot walking and will use you as a resource for my clients.

I’m so happy to have discovered you. I’m recovering from chronic si joint dysfunction and lower back. I found that a minimalist shoe- Altra felt more natural. Compared to higher cushioned shoes. I feel as though I can trust my standing balance better and feel more grounded. I realize that with high cushion shoes, I was striking my heel very hard, and my pelvis pain was exacerbating. I hope to someday be able to use barefoot shoes or a walk barefoot in the grass again or at the beach.

wonderfull video. if i may i’d like to add only this: i am one of those people with a less than perfect technique of walking, and i wear minimal footwear to have a quick and cheap feedback on how i am walking.

I think that is an excellent idea for a lot of people.

In India, we have a fesival of Lord Shiva, during that festival most people walk on barefoot. I completed 90 Kilo Metre within 2 days barefooted. Now for this time, I'm going to walk for 190 Kilometre.

Are Birkenstock Arizona sandals okay to wear indoors? Not a "barefoot" sandal by any means, and no dedicated heel strap for the Arizona model, but I fastened the midfoot and forefoot straps snugly so there is no "flip-flopping" while walking. Is that alright for avoiding the duck-foot walk habit?

I haven't worn them before, but based on the picture of them and on your description, they should probably be fine. The key is that the don't tend to flop and fly of the feet when you do a normal leg swing with the foot forward.

When walking is it the swing leg or standing leg we are predominantly using?

If looking at the hip energy, During the weight change, the swing leg which is trailing behind is active. During the swing phase, the standing hip is active. How to Walk Properly-Standing Leg vs Swing Leg

I thought that was a link I copied to one of my videos. If it is not an active link, you can find that video on my supplemental walking technique playlist

Hey Todd martin , just wanted to say that I am having difficulty trying the core balance and stability routine exercises. I think that the balance is developing in core that's why I am having difficulty , right?

    • @ToddMartinMD
      @ToddMartinMD  3 роки тому +1

It requires significant coordination between the core and the legs. Some difficulty is expected initially, but it should improve with practice.

I like to walk (to live) barefoot, because I don't like to wear shoes: 🦶🏼🦶🏼= 👍🏻☺❗

I think walking barefoot is great, but you do have to be careful of modern dangers like needles, nails, and glass, which didn't exist for early humans.

Yes dear @@ToddMartinMD , you are right in what you wrote. Anyway, these "dangers" can be avoided by walking carefully (we don't walk barefoot with our eyes on the mobile phone, or looking for a plane in the sky). After walking barefoot for only 3 weeks, our eyes have become like radar antennas, which warn us of a needle or splinter. So it is not necessary to wear shoes every day. It's just a lifestyle, a great happiness in freedom !

I am sure you are correct.

🔴 My dear friend @@ToddMartinMD , I discovered the pleasure of going barefoot since I was 2 years old (1961) when I grew up in a village in my country, Romania. Then, this "hobby" even became a real "lifestyle" for the rest of my life. Now, I am a "barefoot hiker", with the whole norm ☺
But now, when I became retired, after 33 years as a pharmacist, I can say with conviction that life's too short to wear shoes. And I have more free time to make trips through nature, in mountains, forests and wild caves. Of course without sneakers !
I wish you all the best, with strong health and happiness, in quiet and peace 🕊🙏🏼❗
