Unbelievable how he ruined the song... I've seen amateur drummers on youtube doing better freestyle. The outro sounded like i bought the song from Wish. I've watched the DT drummer auditions, i think they got him only because his name is Mike. He was the worst of all.

It's 16th notes grouped in 5's on the bass, quarter notes on the left hand stack, and sporatic playing on the right hand. I never would have got it had he not explained it so there ya go!

I don’t care what anyone says, I love the voice of labrie here, and he combined with the lyrics almost made me cry, because the music is amazing and at the same time the story is great!
You know what really stands out to me about Jordan Rudess? He lives and breathes this music, it's as if his very life force flows through his fingertips into that keyboard. You know what I notice about John Myung? He plays that bass like it's his life in the strings, it's everything he knows. You know what I find most noticeable about John Petrucci? He's there inside that guitar, and those riffs reveal his inner soul, which he strings out for us all to see and hear. And you know how James LaBrie seems to me? In his voice, in his face, in every heartfelt sonnet he belts out you can feel him living through this music, he carries us along for that journey with them. And Mike Mangini doesn't just bash those drums, no, every beat comes alive and the sticks almost move themselves. He truly belongs in this family. This is why Dream Theater makes great music, because they live that music, they breathe that music, because when they play for us, they are sharing their life and love with us.
I like that he now uses his screaming abilities when he cannot reach the note anymore, that really saves the performance and in some moments screaming is a cool new feature to the songs!
it's amazing how flawless LaBrie sounds in this record and now that he has had such a long tine to rest and recover, I'm sure he'll sound amazing whenever they all decide to tour again
Easily one of my favourite recordings I’ve ever heard from any band... Say what you want about Mangini, performance was nailed and I found some joy in seeing him noodle around in the end.
I might say Mangini’s solo is fucking brilliant. It’s different to MP’s of course, but this is what we wanted. The best version of Mangini and this concert shows he’s getting there.

Even though I’ve been a Dream Theater fan since 2018, I feel like this is the true ending. I love Portnoy and his feeling, but the first time I saw DT was on this tour in Norway. I have a closer connection to this version. Mangini played a great version here. I’ve never heard a version quite like this with the meter changes and the great feel. I am kinda biased of course because that was the first time I’ve seen them live and they played one of my favourite albums but I’ve seen all the versions with Portnoy and I love his version, but Mangini interperets it with his own style and I thought it was great. I’ve never seen DT with Portnoy of course since I’m young but this is great. I love both of them!!
