- En route to the gold medal in 2000, barbershop quartet Platinum saved their best singing and presentation scores for the final day. To lead off their championship-clinching set, they wowed the crowd in Kansas City with "Smilin' Through."
I could listen to this baritone part (and this baritone) forever and a day and I wouldn't grow tired of them.
It's slowly dawning on me how much of a veteran Tony is
My absolute favorite ballad now. I can't get enough of it
I found this version a coulpe of weeks ago, so smooth.
What a timeless performance. Lou Perry/Ed Wasche arr.
Classic.
Anyone know who arranged this?
Lou Perry, if you haven't already found out by now :)
If you're looking for the sheet music, look for the one that's Lou Perry and Ed Waesche.
Lovely, velvety voices, but honestly, it's only in the crescendos that I'm actually hearing the melody line. The melody should be featured, and only supported by the other voices. I wouldn't be able to walk away humming this tune... I couldn't hear it!
Well, I think you are the first and only to accuse Joe Connelly of singing too soft!
There's always a first time!
+Christine Dudych if you know the melody you can hear it.
But you should be able to follow it if you've never heard it before. You should be able to walk away humming the tune. You'd want to share a good song with more than just a closed circle of "groupies", no? You want the 'uninitiated' to be enticed, no? If it's just a bunch of chords, even if they're the most appealing chord progressions, it loses its 'virutally participatory' appeal. Chase says it's the first time Joe Connelly could be accused of singing too softly... but maybe the others were just too loud. Balance is relational.
+Christine Dudych Sorry. I don't buy it. This has to be one of the top quartets in SPEBSQSA history, and they blend like it.
