Today we have a bit of a different video. Ever been curious how a cargo airplane looks from the inside? Well, here it is, come along with the freight walkaround to see it. Where there are normally passenger seats, there are now tracks to lock the cargo in position. This video shows the main cargo deck of the Boeing 747-400BCF. We start on the upper deck which is fitted with normal seats and a small kitchen. We then descent down the retractable stairs to the main deck and walk down the almost empty fuselage to the back. Before each flight the pilot has to check that all freight is properly secured.

One becomes unimpressed after flying so many times on the 747. But then you see a video like this, and you almost cannot believe the real size of the airplane!! I was happily amazed by this, even though my first 747 flight was in 1974 TWA!
I had the opportunity to tour the inside of a 747-400 at the Delta Air Museum. It was stripped of seats and had plexiglass in the floor to see various systems. I've flown the 747 before, but seeing it empty, it was absolutely cavernous!! By the way, it was the first 747-400 built for a commercial airline.
Interesting how you balance the load front wing centre and the rear you tend to forget what is involved in getting hundreds of tons off Terra firma

Anybody know what the lateral imbalance limit is on a 747-400F ? I noticed most of the pallets are on the left side.
Frank Carlos There really isn’t one. It’s all centerline weight whatever side it’s on.
AlehandroRojas ok understood. On the KC-10 we had a lateral imbalance limit.

it's much bigger on the inside than I thought it'd be. The cargo helped to give you a sense of the huge scale, thanks for the tour. Sadly 747's are being phased out...you'd think they'd keep them around at least for shipping freight.
this is martinair cargo's boeing 747-400BCF it took me a while to understand the top part was full of windows but it's beautiful

Therefore the gargo space at the Airbus A-300 Beluga is not pressurerised.

I’d have random latches up and locked even in empty slots, as a just in case⚠️
A996601 they are. It’s just hard to see. All locks on empty positions are required to be put up in case the load were to shift

During loading and offloading the containers placement is carefully calculated in order to keep the aircraft from falling on its tail. Something that has happened several times.
