40 Hours Inside a B747! Cargo Mission Over the Himalayas (US - Pakistan - Nepal)

- I was on a humanitarian mission inside a National Airlines B747-400BCF, delivering medical cargo aids. I flew from Frankfurt Hahn to Islamabad, Pakistan and over the Himalayas to Kathmandu, Nepal. The flight originated from the USA carrying nearly 80 tons of USAid, destined for Pakistan and Nepal.
Our B747 landing into Kathmandu was a thriller! After passing through the last clouds, the entire Kathmandu valley came into sight. Our descent was much steeper than the usual 3 degrees glideslope; it required all the breaks we had to come to a full stop at the end of the runway in Kathmandu, due to high altitude.
What a great privilege to be part of the team to send these much-needed supplies around the world, also to be able to document behind the scenes of such a mission! I felt like “an airplane man” staying inside the B747 for 40 hours, from dark to light to dark again! That’s just 2 days in the life of a charter cargo crew! Certainly very different to the passenger airlines.

I’m a Lahore born Canadian since 2 years old 88’. We shouldn’t leave Pakistan out of the equation they are trying to steer the right way, doing humanitarian efforts, taking corruption out. Taliban corruption etc, They have a rough history with India, all blame to UK and lack of education to the poor people of the partition.
There’s a lot of entanglement of layer upon layer of corruption in Pakistan for the past 3-4 decades. It takes time. Hopefully they can compromise eventually. Long live Khalistan. They need to be independent.
Propaganda.

I was wondering what happened to the Travis Frankfurt portion!
Thank you 🙏🏿
Hi Chad, do you know what the bulk of the items were? Medical supplies or food or ? Thanks!
Is this the same Chad Humphries I was at Osan with in 98-99?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam flew on a space shuttle one day
Two days ago was the 10th anniversary of the retirement of the Space Shuttle. Are you looking forward to SLS?
The rover!

I'd be surprised if he did, since the shuttle program is no more😂

We, Nepalese are thankful to you. Landing 'Queen of the sky'- Boeing 747 is challenging in Kathmandu's airport. Being an aviation learner I had no idea 747 could land in Kathmandu. That 5.31°, a thrilling descend, great Hats off to Captain, crew members, Sam Chui and et.al. It still gave me goosebumps.
It's a humanitarian flight.
Huge respect to Captain who dared to land Queen in Kathmandu. It's really beautiful seeing 747 in Nepal.
And Sam you must return to Nepal and explore Nature's gift for Nepal.
747 can land but itll never be allowed to fly commercially in tribhuvan airport bcoz it cant land without reverse thrust in trubhuvan airport. imagine ur engine failing in 747 and u have to land in trubhuvan airport, u r dead. plus nepal aint got no oceans so u dead.
I was saying so, pilot don't even have 2nd options and alot of complications.
@@alphaon144hz7 2 new international airports are serving too because we seriously need to land 747 and a380 for cargo purposes too
Yes I heard it’s a very difficult airport too land at, especially for a 747.
Thanks from islamabad we’ll never forget this kind act
The 747 is being phased out by commercial airlines (their loss) but this is proof that the 747 has a long, bright future as a freighter. Great job by all in your humanitarian efforts. 4 gold stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Yup, 747 was meant for freighter market to begin with, yet well received by PAN-AM for long haul passenger flights.
Cargo airlines are commercial airlines.
Finally the video has arrived. Love from Nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Really love that the two pilots from their initial training in Iran ended up working together and achieving their dreams 30 years down the track
The 747 looks beautiful in the dark airport with the lighting!
Thank you People of USA for the support to my beloved nation Nepal. I was personally vaccinated with J&J vaccine aided by USA. Words can't describe how much these medical supplies meant to people of Nepal.
Thank you Sam for us to witness it through your channel. Huge respect to USA for this humongous support. Love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Same as before
love you from PAKISTAN 🖤🖤🇵🇰❤️
Huge respect for your hard worked to deliver Medical aid to Pakistan my country. Alhumdulilah MashaAllah
The genius of the original design to design a proper cargo loading system into the 747 speaks volumes of the forward thinking of Boeing. The 747 as a freighter will fly for decades. I hope those 463L pallets get returned to the USAF.
All the way from nepal 🇳🇵sam . Was waiting for this one so badly
Nepal is a beloved country for me, from my previous visit. The people has suffered a lot, yet they are always kind. A fantastic cultural destination

I lived in Nepal from 1996-99, I never would have believed that you could have landed a 747 in Kathmandu had I not seen it!
It was hair raising enough in 757's and A300's

As much as people might like to portray America as snobby or not caring, we do care. And it is our pleasure to help out other nations.

Yes exactly
I started to follow this channel with the purpose of helping me overcome the panic I have with airplanes and when I see this video in particular, I feel a huge emotion, I don’t know if it’s because of my fear or because of seeing the big heart of all the staff. Amazing mission!…My respect to all of you!!!
You have nothing too fear from flying. What put you off flying in the first place, how long has it been since you flew?
So nice to see you *SAM* here in *PAKISTAN, ISB!* I have been watching you since the start of your channel and have always been feeling happier than before due to the DIVERSITY of experiences, which are your real property now: *From first class to flying-Apartment of Etihad to the various DELIVERY flights right from Toulouse down to the experiencing BIMAN.* And all this from emerging *'Chinese aviation enthusiast'* ...that's the LOVELIEST thing! Covid is a joke! Your fellow person who so called passed from from covid was labeled as covid cause of death! Many hospitals and doctors do this to make covid numbers!

Don’t forget: They departed in Frankfurt Hahn not in Frankfurt Int’l. In case you wondered why the apron and the airport in general is not that big. Frankfurt Hahn is located nearly 100km in the south-west of Frankfurt Main and is been used by different cargo airlines and some low cost airlines like Ryanair
Former Hahn Air Base. When I was stationed at spangdahlem air base in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was an active base.
