I noticed on the reboot menu that it said it was changing your vin. Does that vin number that popped up match your cars vin or did it fool the system into giving you car play by changing your vin number to a vehicle with car play?

Hey, great video. I had car play installed by the dealer. When I go to my phone settings, it recognized the idrive & it says car play is installed but it won’t connect for some reason, any advice?
You have to connect either via Bluetooth / WiFi / or usd connection depending on unit

Can the screen be programmed to touchscreen?
Quick question for you, did you need to install and Wi-Fi or Bluetooth adapters? I had a 3rd party tell me that my car is equipped with the original CarPlay hardware from BMW. but I'll be required to add a WiFi antenna to your vehicle.
I did not. I think it depends on the options the car has. I quick way to figure it out is to contact BMW connect and ask them what it will take to add CarPlay. They can tell you.

Yes it can use any of those. Yes and it accepts voice commands
This is exactly what I’m looking for. Unfortunately, my 2018 BMW 440i did not come preinstalled with CarPlay. Does this work okay once there is an iOS update?
I have not had any issues since installing with any of the updates over the last several months.

@@WhatsyourForte I bought and installed using the instructions provided by them, but it never showed up on my iDrive 6.0 system. I was told because of my model, I’d have to connect via Ethernet and ODB 2, which I did. The install software said “connected” and everything seemed fine until it didn’t show up in iDrive. When I asked if I needed an antenna, he said I wouldn’t know until after installation. Because I did my research I was prepared to most likely have to purchase an antenna. However, the problem I have is that it won’t even show up on the dashboard. Like the system doesn’t even have it installed, not that it’s just not reading the signal.
Unfortunately, no word when I tried to follow up. Sucks. Lost $70. Glad it worked for you, but I wouldn’t recommend to others.
Do you have full screen carplay capability with this? I’m looking to do something similar for my 17 330i but really want full screen carplay

I don’t think it would bother your warranty. They would have to prove that the coding caused the issue for them not to cover it. I haven’t had an issue with it since Installion.
I bought it and installed it followed every step tou did to a T but my phone won’t connect to my car
@@vinnysaitta wow that is weird. I know I had to disconnect the phone and tell the phone to forget the connection then reconnect for it to work. Does your car show up in your CarPlay phone settings?

For your car I do not think so. Does you car give you the option to purchase carplay ? If so you should be good to just code

I used my own. Just make sure it is in the correct format.

No matter what I do, the phone will not pair. Everything is installed correctly. Says unable to connect.
I would reach out to the coder. I had to connect it a few times for it to work. Also had to tell my phone to forget the connection and also the car.

From what I was told they only work for my car. You have to get the coding from the coder

What year is your m4? This will work on a 2015?
My M4 is a 2017. This will not work on yours. You need iDrive 5 and up. You will need to purchase a carplay module.

No, you have to older iDrive and you need to look into the Bimmertech module.

Did any of you need to fit WiFi antenna, I did and it just keep disconnecting! I was told that WiFi antenna will fix it. 2017 430i
Why did you need a wifi antenna? You couldn’t connect from your phone to CarPlay?
You don’t need a WiFi antenna if your car has Idrive 5. Idrive 5 came with apple carplay integrated but you had to option it from the factory or install it afterwards video the BMW connect app.
What's your Forte ? I have idrive 5 and I did my Applecarplay via the guy you recommended, everything went like the video except for connecting the phone, it connected at first and then suddenly disconnected. And till now I can’t reconnect it, i tried everything. I contacted the guy again and he said that his upgrade is fine and that the problem is with the WiFi antenna which didn’t make any sense! Till now I can’t use my Applecarplay nor get my money back!
Shav Scott. Yeah that what I was told, but I don’t think WiFi antenna have anything to do with CarPlay and connecting the phone.

No you will need a 2017 or greater as that is when they changed the iDrive system.

No, in 15 you are on a different Idrive system. You will need the CarPlay module from bimmertech

No you have Idrive 4. You would need to get a module added to obtain carplay.

I think it depends on the idrive system. I have Idrive 5 on my M4
I thought apple car play only worked on bmw’s that are 2017 and up
2 Lit I believe it’s 16 and up
2 Lit so for BMWs that are 2016 and less with Idrive 4 you will need to purchase a module like the bimmertech unit to get Apple CarPlay. For BMWs 2017- present Apple CarPlay is available from the dealership or software upgrade if not on the car from factory.

This particular method would not as you need iDrive 5 or greater. You will need to install a module or upgrade your firmware to complete the coding.
