Nice one I fitted the antenna already so will give this a try, I have just ordered. You don't have to disconnect the battery to unplug the hazard/door switch but it is a nightmare to unplug anyway. Thanks :)

Yes, just for the iDrive Maps. Once you have that FSC file, you only have to download the Maps (you can easily find It online) and put It in an USB with your FSC

There is. You would need to get media box and connect it to head unit. I made a video about one 4 years ago when I installed it in my 2015 m135i

Hi. It’s even better to install it first and then do the coding. Otherwise your phone will fail to connect to it. Either way it will work in the end.

Hi, great video! Have a question for you, I have installed the larger 8’’ screen in my F20 and coded this in myself through Bimmer code, however I don’t have the pro satnav version. Would I still be able to do what you’ve done in my car with the larger screen ? Thanks Jon.
Hi. I don’t think so. It’s the HU which wouldn’t be powerfull enough for CarPlay.

I think if you don’t have a phone preparation then you probably will need one. They are cheap and easy to install. Link in the description

@@Tobore I’m not 100% with f10 but I know m2 with phone prep (wireless charger in armrest) had the antenna. My car didn’t have that.

I was wondering the same. I bought the cable and software thinking this will work on android auto as well. Now i'm not so sure anymore.. It's only 45 euro total, so if it does not work not a big loss.

It will not change the existing functionality of the system at all. It just adds another tab to your main screen with CarPlay. Yes it could void your warranty if discovered by BMW.

You need to check your software version. Check the website and contact the seller. I think it will with a pronav but check with him to stay on a safe side.

Hi. If you have an LCI with larger screen there is a bit chance you have it. Do you have a wireless charger? If you have one, it’s a good indicator you have a phone preparation.
Hi mate. Fantastic video. I am a new F87 owner and am trying to follow your guide. I've downloaded the software but when trying to Find Vehicle it keeps saying No Vehicles Found! Really annoying. Do you have any tips? I purchased the ENET Cable from your description and a ENET to USB C Adaptor for my Laptop. I get the blue light when I plug the cable into the OBD port but the software isn't finding my car???

Thank you for the replies. Yes firewall disabled and also allowed exclusion for the folder where the software is on my desktop. WiFi antenna installed too. I did reach out to the seller earlier, he was very helpful. He connected to my laptop remotely. It seems that the ENET to USB C adapter isn't being recognised by the Laptop! I've ordered another one off amazon to see if that was the issue. Will let you know how I get on :)

No. Mine wasn’t. Your favourites buttons will but things like mileage, services will not be erased.
Do Waze directions show through the Head Up Display? For that matter, do ANY of the CarPlay functions show on the HUD, does anyone know, please?

Up to 24h but I had mine within 2-3h as far as I remember.

Hi. I can’t answer that question but the guy running the website will be able to confirm based on the information you have provided. If you have a small screen, this won’t work. I think it’s only for ID5 up.

How is the wireless connection? Is it choppy or laggy when using maps or playing music? And is the sound coming from the audio playback through BMW's stereo system?
It works flawlessly. I never expected any delay or choppiness. The sound comes from the speakers.

@@MDrives I have a 2014 BMW 2 Series, it doesn’t have Bluetooth audio, it only allows my to play music via AUX but I can connect Bluetooth but only to my telephone and make and receive calls. Will this still work for me and will it essentially make it Bluetooth so I can play music via Bluetooth also instead of just AUX?

From your video I can see that your car has NBT EVO, that is to say iDrive version 5.0. F30 BMWs built between March 2013 and July 2015 have NBT, i.e., iDrive 4.0.
The difference is more than just updated software that replaces a list home menu with a tile home menu: NBT EVO cars are fitted with a new head unit that is actually physically smaller but has a bigger hard drive (500 gig instead of 200 gig) and a WLAN socket. What this means is that NBT cannot be upgraded to NBT EVO without replacing the head unit and that costs at least £1500, with fitting about £2000.
2017-on LCI cars got iDrive 6.0 with Apple Carplay, the 8.8 in screen as standard, and some (from 2018-on?) came with a touchscreen. It should be noted that Android Auto did not become available until the release of iDrive 7.0 in July 2020.
In any case, the point I'm trying to make is that the upgrade illustrated in this video is not available on BMWs that come with iDrive 4.0 NBT, which for F30 cars means those that came out of the factory before July 2015.

@@Kek365 if your car came out of the factory in the second half of 2015, the answer should be yes because it should have the later head unit. The earlier head unit did not have the WLAN socket necessary to plug in the WLAN antenna required to connect iDrive to your iPhone for screen mirroring regardless of the software version.
Installed and tested best £37 spent on car 😅
