  • All modern ATVs use CV shafts in one form or another, this Yamaha 660 Grizzly has a total of ten! They are easily torn, and if left un checked will ruin the CV joint. They are not hard to replace, as you will see.

Ray, You are totally awesome! Best UA-cam video I've ever watched. Great tips that you also add about the wheel rotation. Lot of people wouldn't think of that. In fact I didn't. I wished you lived closer. I'd have you do my work. Not that I can't do it myself. Just that you're such a great guy. I think you deserve it.

Excellent work! I just watched all three parts. You covered virtually every step of the process - from start to finish - and I love the cautionary notes regarding greasy boot contacts and axle rotation when installing the clips. Now I feel ready to tackle the job on my Hisun 500 ATV. Thank you!

D-Ray i know it's been several yrs since u posted this but i just watched it and i gotta tell you, it's really nice being able to "you-tube" these kinds of projects before you tackle them. Just wanted to let you know that there's a lot of us DIY's out there that rely on these kinds of videos from time to time, and i just personally wanted to thank you for taking the time to post it. It was informative, thorough, and good quality!!

My job is completed. Couldn't have done it without your well done, 3-part series! Took me 2 afternoons, but I got a lot of satisfaction. My Honda TRX350 Fourtrax was just a little different, but the axles and boots were the same and your clear video allowed me to see some details (ball joint/bearings) that came in real handy. Can't thank you enough!

All in all, great video, you made it look so easy I'm gonna go do this myself and save a few hundred bucks on labor not having to take this to Honda to do it ! :) Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video for all of us. D-Ray, your step-by-step is excellent. The shaft snapped solidly into place as at start of part 3, and it wouldn't come out when yanked, but after 10 minutes of driving (in 2-wheel), the shaft worked its way out of the differential. This happened 3 times now. We made sure that the spring-steel ring on the end looked good (wasn't worn-looking or damaged) and was spread enough to engage when inserted. Any ideas on what we need to do to keep it in? Thank you!

Awesome video, very helpful. I just had a CV joint on my Honda foreman 500 go out in the middle of a muddy ride. I'm afraid it may be a bit more complicated than this one. I cant steer, and I assume that's because the bearing is torn completely up. all tie rods are in tact and not bent. I had to be towed out a mile or so, so the bearing and innerds are probably ruined from water and mud. I live in Little Rock, I may have to come see you in Judsonia! Great video!
