Just to add to this point. Xbox Series S is a 1080p/ 1440p machine, which scales perfectly to 4k TVs. I have a good LG 55-inch TV in my living room; even the Xbox One S has 4k HDR upscaling, and the picture looks beautiful in most games. So even though the Series S is a 1080p/ 1440p console if you connect it to a 4k HDR display it will upscale and your games will look and play just fine. If you're a casual gamer and mainly play eSports this is the perfect console. eSports titles aren't typically demanding in the first place and even PC gamers lower the resolution of those games to get smoother frame rate. Series S is also perfect if you mainly play COD, 2k, or Madden.

Sold my gaming laptop 2 years ago because I needed some money. Wanted to hop back into gaming and decided that the series S was ideal for me. I bought it a year ago and I have no regrets. Got it on Facebook marketplace for like 200 dollars, pretty much brand new too. I’m pretty much a casual anyways, so I didn’t care much about getting the best of the best (plus I can’t even afford it lol). Great video, btw!
I have no regrets with my series S purchase. Does exactly what I expected from it. I am able to play games (usually old gen titles) + the quick resume helps a lot. Most especially for someone like me who only plays probably around 2-4 hours per week only. Bonus feature is it makes my ordinary tv a smart tv 🤣
The series s is for casual gamers who don’t want to break the bank and still play the latest games or just games in general. If you want a console with better graphics then go for the series x.
Got the series s today and man its a little powerhouse for what it is. Played mw3 for 4 hours and it ran great. Over 100fps with vrr on and its just 👌👌
Getting a ps5 old model for the living room, use to have 1 but had to get rid. Got this for upstairs now. It's been my trusty console for nearly 2 years. Still a great console.
I don't do PvP, but have enjoyed having my Series S in the spare room here! By watching the weekly Xbox sales and getting games dirt-cheap, I've built up a pretty good digital games library.
Holy shit, a person that actually acknowledges that there are people that live in third world countrys where every single dollar reduced in price makes a HUGE diference Thank you
This video is 100% correct. Outdated arguments. And people don’t like change. Xbox from a business standpoint is doing well and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll admit I didn’t like the direction at first but I was influenced by the X talking points. Once I stop feeding into that I realize how genius what they are doing is. Great vid.
I'm a PC and handheld/nintendo gamer most of my life. The Xbox S is pretty awesome. 30fps on decent visual quality while watching in big screen is immersive. Action adventure, jrpgs and other "casual" couch coop games is so much fun in the big screen, The shortcomings (FPS or fidelity) is forgivable. :)
Funny you mention the ease of travel, typically if I am going to be staying in a hotel, I bring my series S in a small backpack. Especially if you're on vacation, it's awesome to play some Halo 4 player split screen in a hotel with some buds or family members (recently did that this summer for the first time ever).
As primariily as a SFF PC builder, i can appreciate the Series S as a machine. i too, have changed my impression of the console after getting one as a gift this week. i have flirted with owning Playstations over the last couple generations, but with alot of thier exclusives getting ported to PC, having this low power, minimally, but capably spec'd machine makes alot of sense. I have a full blown larger 4090 PC so i'm covered when its time for pretty graphics and bells and whistles, or even brute force to run something unoptimized, smoothly, but as far as a machine just "good enough" to successfully play lower spec multiplayer games, and a ton of single player content, the Series S is quickly taking over the job of my similarly spec'd second computer for my lighter gaming needs.
I bought a Series S last year around June and I am so happy with it. I play on a 25 inch gaming Monitor that supports up to 2K and most of the game I play run at 1080p. This console is just great especially if you wanna play old 360 games at better frane rate and resolution. The new games play well too. I dont need the best framerate or resolution to enjoy games.
+1. Series S definently strong option. I went through S to X and ps5. Now im back to just having S. Pricepoint mitigates most of the nitpicks about graphics for me 😅
I could have done that but it’s just more convenient to have the X and put everything on that. Right now my one S is all boxed up and in storage anyways. And the newer CODs run like shit on the one S too. Thats the main reason I bought the X, because modern warfare 2 doesn’t run well on the S. And black ops 6 won’t even be available on the S at all.
I pre-ordered and had since day one. I was coming from PS4 so I had missed out on the Xbox One titles, so the S+GamePass gave me the catalogue of games I missed out since the 360. Plus I could also access all my XBLA games I had purchased. I did not get a PS5 and probably won't for a while, I still use my PS4 Pro for playing Sony specific titles, but the Series S is used every day.
I use the series s as a companion/side console to my ps5. I bought it for travel, if I ever want to bring games with me. I sometimes go weeks or months without playing it, but it’s very convenient to have. I’ve had both for 3 and a half years now and it’s the perfect secondary console. Nice way to dip your feet into the Xbox eco system. I call it my game pass box! I play games available only on Xbox and 360 games on it, anything multiplatform I play on ps5. Edit: I’m purely a console gamer with no interest in pc gaming.
I'm a playstation guy, and I bought it to hold me down for a few months before I buy a ps5, and now I can sell it. The value for money is insane, especially for those who don't have a 4k tv yoy lose nothing
So I bought a tv that has a 60 FPS booster for games. A gaming mode, you can say. I've set up the display to 4K from the Xbox series S, and any game that supports high quality mode like AC Valhalla, that high quality mode is compensated with 60 FPS frame rate boost by the TV :) My suggestion is, if your TV features a 60 FPS booster, the difference would be minimal.
Yeah i have both a PS5 and a Series S. I use the Series S way, WAY more. At the end of the day, the games are what it matters, and on Xbox i have Gamepass wich is incredible. Also Quick Resume is just so nice

I've had my S since Dec 2021. I love it! I am however, about to upgrade. I just got a 4K tv so I'm waiting til Black Friday & see if i can get an X on sale.
If stars align like last year you could actually pick up the base series x last year at 300-350 bucks on sale. Hopefully that will be the case again because that was a steal.
Horses for courses, the S is perfectly fine for that type of gamer and great value...I nearly settled for it but have now chosen the X for what I will require overall. Interesting video for sure, good work.
Xbox Series S is a good console, Series S would be way better if the games released optimized with no bugs and glitches to see the true power of it really is.
Series s makes sense for many but to be honest for 100 more you can find a series x in good condition second hand. For another 100 you are getting better graphics, storage space , resolutiom, framerrates , disk drive , color depth and better textures. Just to name a few, i would pay 100 more just for the storage but you get that plus the other advantages i mentioned , that is a steal. But series s is awesome for travel . Its just not the better value as many claim.
Why would you compare a used Series X to a new Series S? If you're the type to buy second hand, then compare them both at second hand prices. In my local second hand market (Toronto Canada), SX goes for about $450 and SS goes for about $200. So it's less than half the price. Though I would say unless you're only going to be playing only 1 game, like you're a fortnite or cod fanatic, then you're better off to go with the SX because the SS storage is insufficient and you'll be needing a storage upgrade almost right away.
@@jayjayhooksch1 yes series s is still a great value for many who only play a few games, but once you go beyond e sports definitely get the x because you'd be sacrificing too many bells and whistles like frames , resolution and image quality . Disk drive is an added bonus for reselling games z, so the value of x is better in the long run.
Series S is a console for casual gamers and developing markets, like mine, the autocratic Brazil. This console is still quite expensive in the majority of the countries where inflation is still very significant and taxes are high. Sorry for the bad English.
Series S was my first 9th gen console. Eventually I got a ps5 a few years later. Something that surprises me is that in some ways the series S offers a better gaming experience than ps5. The 2 biggest things imo is the superior VRR implementation on series S and the 4k 120 hz true hdr output, ps5 has to compress hdr output at 120 fps. The VRR is so much better on s because you can lock the output to 120hz vrr and it smooths everything out. On Ps5 120uz engages on a game by game mode by mode basis and a lot of games don't have any mode that uses 120hz. Elden Ring feels like stuttery trash on ps5 bc the 60 hz vrr stutters if the fps dips below 48. On series S even though the fps fluctuates just as much as any other 9th gen box, it feels smooth to play.
It's a price performance monster. Most people i mean 99% of people can't really tell the difference between 4k and 2k. You have to really look closely, pixel to pixel to tell the difference.
Uh, no. There is a BIG difference in picture. I had Samsung 1080p tv when i went to a Samsung 4K i was shocked at the difference. The colors were much more vivid too.
I love my Series S 😊 i got my 1 year and a half and im so happy with it. I dont need 60 fps im happy with 30. The only thing that was annoying was the limited space. I buyed me a Samsung T7 1.Tb and used it as a cache save i downloaded some games and saved them on the T7. And if i wanted to play an other game amd have not enough space on my internal i move some to my t7 and i did that a couple of months but i wanted more and my brother work at an Electronic Store and he got me the storage expansion card for 90 € instead for 240€ but i still use.my t7 so that i dont have to download the games a second.or a third time. 😊
Finally someone who understands what series S is and what is for. Recent developers grief started 💩storm about series S without real life problem as this console can run UE5 games without problems - The First Descendant. Optimise games, Switch can run Witcher 3 so no excuse will be enough.
Coming from a pc gamer: I haven't owned the series s or any Xbox before but I agree about the performance part, maybe it sounds weird coming from a PC gamer but I don't really care about super realistic graphics or ray tracing and stuff like that. I've never used RT anyway. The only step back for me is they don't have PlayStation games. On PC now they have a lot of PS games and GoWR is coming in 2 days.
For all of those out there complaining and disregarding this as a current gen console are seriously missing out on a pretty good and convenient stuff. From the last three years it has been meeting my expectations - both as a casual gamer and serious. It can effectively and efficiently play all the games that are out there with breaking a sweat. I don't need all those 4k's and high refresh rates. Its only for a select few. For 90% of the gamers. The series 's' is a no brainer. All you need is a strong and stable interned connection and you are good to go 👍
Went from OG 512gb Series S then upgraded to Series X. After financial difficulties I sold my X and didn’t game for over a year. When I got back on my feet and could buy a console again, after deliberation I got a new and sealed black 1TB Series S for $275 off eBay with Seagate 1TB expansion card/4TB external HDD combo for $180. 4k gaming is overrated, and the minimal jump in performance that X/PS5 give isn’t worth the extra $. That extra $ could be spent augmenting your storage capacity, or buying a quality accessory like a mid-high end headset. In the grand scheme of all the devices you can play games and stream TV/movies on, the Series S is pound for pound the best value in entertainment. Price/Performance/Form Factor. Period. The Series S runs 90 percent of games flawlessly.
I had a series S before i upgraded to the Series X and its a great little powerhouse but honesty this is holding xbox back. No split screen co op on halo infinite or Baldurs gate 3, No black myth wukong. Whats gonna happen when gta 6 releases? Another delay? If GTA 6 causes a problem Xbox is done for. This comong from a mainly xbox player that plays everyday
The thing about frame rates is that when you're on PC and you have your face a foot away from the monitor, a low frame rate can absolutely be an eyesore. But when you're chillin on the couch or bed with a decent sized tv or monitor, people really overestimate the importance of a higher frame rate. It's just not really relevant in that setting. It's something a lot of PC gamers miss out on in my opinion. The PC platform has its place, but I think that community spends far too much time trying to optimize every single thing about their gaming experience. PC handhelds are fine but they're also still very niche. I feel like a lot of PC gamers just wanna go hard in the paint all the time. It's wild.

Series S is fantastic for the price point. You can get it used under 200$ easily.
Got mine for $215
I'd rather pay your mom $200 to do me ❤
I enjoy my Series S. I’d like to get one of those screens that attach to it, but I really don’t travel much now.. I do have a portable tablet type screen that’s good for travel, and it was much cheaper, but it does require another plug.. The attached screen is much more travel ready.. Great video!
I bought my Series S a month ago and I’m loving it. I hadn’t upgraded from my PS4 and while I wanted a PS5, I thought it’d be better to wait for the PS5 Pro and in the meantime get something cheaper and I have no regrets (well maybe only that the SSD expansion is pretty expensive). I’m using gamepass and it is a great experience. Totally recommend it

I still use my xbox 360 and xbox one
Real CHAD
I dont care about fps things.
Just play the game and happy.😊
Got mine brand new for £180 in the UK. It was a Christmas deal/steal! Love it

I got what i paid for and im pretty satisfied with my series s
I love my series s. Alongside my ps5, switch, quest and Mac for gaming.
It’s a dope little machine
+1. Series S definently strong option. I went through S to X and ps5. Now im back to just having S. Pricepoint mitigates most of the nitpicks about graphics for me 😅
quick resume is awesome
I would have gotten the series S if it had a disc drive, but it doesn’t so I got the X. With the S there’s no way to play your older Xbox one games.
Keep your older Xbox one? It’s literally cost pocket change to get one and you can enjoy “most” new releases. Then upgrade to series X later
This is my “secondary” Xbox after my series X and ps5…I use this console waaayyy more than the others especially when playing on a monitor.

I have a Switch and a Series S, love the fast loading, quick resume, great graphics in comparison to the Switch which takes forever to load some games
So I bought a tv that has a 60 FPS booster for games. A gaming mode, you can say. I've set up the display to 4K from the Xbox series S, and any game that supports high quality mode like AC Valhalla, that high quality mode is compensated with 60 FPS frame rate boost by the TV :) My suggestion is, if your TV features a 60 FPS booster, the difference would be minimal.
enjoying my series s since a year 😃
the series s is a really good machine am getting mine tommorow i can play everything i want, cant wait for gta 6 on the series s.

My nephew loves his series s and gamepass.
Xbox Series S is a good console, Series S would be way better if the games released optimized with no bugs and glitches to see the true power of it really is.
Absolutely love my series s 👌🏾💯
Series S is the cutest console I ever owned . This console works best with a 1080p high refresh rate monitor.
Console enthusiasts are akin to wine connoisseurs. While there may be differences, most people either won't notice or simply don’t care.
I purchased a ps5 on launch day. I bought a series s a year later. When i realised i was using my series s more than my ps5, i upgraded to a series x
Finally someone who understands what series S is and what is for. Recent developers grief started 💩storm about series S without real life problem as this console can run UE5 games without problems - The First Descendant. Optimise games, Switch can run Witcher 3 so no excuse will be enough.
I’m a ps5 main but alway take my series s when I go on vacation
Coming from a pc gamer: I haven't owned the series s or any Xbox before but I agree about the performance part, maybe it sounds weird coming from a PC gamer but I don't really care about super realistic graphics or ray tracing and stuff like that. I've never used RT anyway. The only step back for me is they don't have PlayStation games. On PC now they have a lot of PS games and GoWR is coming in 2 days.
I have a series s and a switch oled between the 2 they meet all my gaming needs
I'm waiting for next gen Series S. I'll buy it day one if its even smaller and has similar price.
Dev mode is also absurd on this thing, the emulation scene on it is insane. They even got 360 emulation right, with more development to come
For all of those out there complaining and disregarding this as a current gen console are seriously missing out on a pretty good and convenient stuff.
All you need is a strong and stable interned connection and you are good to go 👍
For me, this is a good side or second console. Use it while traveling due to the size and weight.
I love my Xbox s I get to play ps2 games etc… in dev mode
i mean its so good it perfoms almost exactly as the ps5,good for triple a games
Very nice video my friend.
It's wild.
Well said 👌👌
I ended up buying the series s that didn't want but I ended up loving it so the series s is the best 😁😁

I bought one just to play Elden Ring because the PC port had such negative reviews. It was nice enough but I hated playing with the controller. I ended up buying the PC version when they had fixed the initial problems. I figured I'd use it as a streaming box but I ended up buying an AppleTV for that.
Hi pal have a guestion it might be a stupid one but if I buy games online and download them to my system on the Internet, now say I go some where or I'm somewhere that dosent have Internet can I turn it on and play offline like no connection whatsoever because that's the one thing that's holding me back I mean graphicily consoles have got to a point we're they can't get any better and as you said I mean all these people that go on about 30 fps and 60 frames if you didn't tell them would they know, loved your video you seem very genuine you were precice and to the point xbox should hire you because I'm sold once I know that if I buy and download a game I can move to a place that has no connection at all but I'll still be able to play.
