I would have bet my farm that the engine would have been locked up. Good job!
Thank you
I would have bet my sister/mom’s knickers you voted for trump..
I drove a similar F-600 in the early 80's for a food distributor. 360/4 speed. The company had many newer trucks, but that one was my favorite.
Absolutely awesome content brother!!! This channel will take off 100% just keep the content coming!! There's a massive fan base for this kind of stuff on UA-cam but you seem to add that extra something which is what people will gravitate to!! I found your channel today and I've been binge watching since. Lol.
If you get that truck running and idling on its own (without the aid of starter spray) I'll eat my shorts!!
Thank you. It’s comments like these that make me start flooded trucks in the dead of winter
Nice to see a good young man getting his hands dirty and wanting to work on vehicles that's awesome keep doing what you're doing
Takes me back to when I was that age. We did this all the time. Self taught mechanics, way before the internet. Good times and great video!!!
I'm amazed the truck isn't covered in rot considering how much time it spent under water. The wood in the box even looked fine too! I'd say turn it into a camper or sell the box and turn it into a cool rig, I'm sure someone would want an old truck box. Awesome vid tho!
Definitely want to see this truck drive on it’s own.
man i bet that starter was heavy , trying to hold it with one hand in place and use the other to try and thread in the bolt, you have my respect! still cant believe you got it to fire!
WOW! THAT is one of the best will it run videos Ive ever seen! Keep up the great work! Can't wait for the future videos! Subscribed :) The whole time, i was yelling at you about the oil, very happy to see the drain pan when you got it home ;) Is it making any oil pressure?
Perfect truck for a 7.3 or 12v swap cut a couple feet of the frame behind the back wheels through a flatbed on it and have a badass all round truck
I'm not going to lie, I love this. Clean this thing up and show us.
Great video ! Glad to see that old truck get brought back to life again. Makes me want get back to work on my 79 F150 4x4.
Definitely would want to see a part 2
I just came across your page and this video pretty awesome. It’s cool to see young men take interest in restoring a old truck. I enjoyed watching videos and these guys just earned a fan a subscriber
Yall did an awesome job!
And when yall were pullin up to the truck, it gave me massive snowrunner vibes
Great video man, I love your style and execution. I love wrenching on cars, and I’ve been out there in the rain and snow all alone so many times. It’s something we all share as mechanics, and there is a certain beauty to this hobby
Kid,you got skills. Stumbled upon your stuff and been watching ever since. Keep it up.
This 72 year old grandma really enjoyed this video. Reminded me of my youth. Had friends and boyfriends who were, “gear heads.”
Thank you
@@BradenBuildz ❤️
I seen your UA-cam short on this 1st. So I had to watch! Great job and determination on getting that old truck running.
Awesome video. I watched the whole thing. You working in the rain all day and night without having to be made to do it really gave me a little hope for our future lol. And that tractor snatching that truck out had me tensing up like I was behind it pushing or something. You totally earned my sub. Keep up the great videos and I'll keep doing my part and one day we'll make you YT rich 👍
Great video! I came across the short and had to see if that old beast fired up! I really liked how you gave a shout out and thanks to everybody that helped you along that way. Great content
Love the little comedy skits in-between the informative content, really kept me interested, The gun persuasion one got me the most
Lol you obviously thought it would run to buy the parts I was going to bet I could start it from growing up doing this kind of stuff with alot worse looking to start with but it's awesome to see a young guy doing it now days those old fe motors will take some abuse and keep on going great video glad to see you cut the belts and address the wires just rebuild that carb throw a gas can under the hood to the fuel pump and fire it up your so close also get some water in the radiator and see if the water pump is working and put a new thermostat in it and you'll be doing burnouts in no time awesome video thanks for sharing
I hit rewind like 15 times on you falling at the beginning and laughed until I teared up... Holy crap so funny
That's either a 360 or 390. You can find specs on those engines. Parts are very easy to find also and cheap. Look up the numbers on the bottom of the block. Also sometimes you can find information stamped near the valve cover.
I was thinking of the Ford 351 Cleveland motor as opposed to those 351 Windsor models. Worked on both back in the day. The Cleveland would kick major ass.
It's neither a 360 or a 390. Those are Ford FE engines. That's a Ford FT engine. The FT is the same basic architecture as the FE but has a steel crank , large snout, low compression and some other significant differences. They are low revving, run all day for years industrial truck engines.
@@theoldmanoftech4039 No Cleveland was ever used in a truck from the factory. A 351 M and the 400 had similar heads and block architecture. But they are low compression emissions oriented engines. Cleveland were only produces for 4 years for good reason. They did produce good power depending upon what Cleveland model used but they all suffered from oiling problems that cause premature bearing failure . The Windsor series sbf engines are significantly better but suffer from poorly designed heads from a performance perspective. Too small ports and valves . Hard to beat the FE or 385 series Ford's
@gorilla cookies my 78 f100 has the same valve covers and it’s a 400m
And you are very right about low compression oil pressure is very low in it but I daily drove it 60 miles plus and besides being powerless it got me every where when it wanted to behave lol
Is there a part 2 for the truck would like to see it
I'm simply in awe at your dedication.
Definitely an old FE Ford engine. If the engine can survive that, I'm sure the trans probably did too. Not to mention the rear tires were turning so it's not locked up. As long as the clutch functions she should shift. The front wheel bearing could be fun, but probably will turn out just fine. I would keep it mechanical on the fuel pump, and freshen up the carb. Maybe put a Edelbrock intake and a 4 barrel carb on it just to squeak out a little more horse power. All things considered she sounded healthy. That old Ford just said fix me I still have a lot or work yet to do. And it would be a bad ass camper. Parts aren't that hard to come by once you have which FE she has in her. Summit Racing will have almost everything if not everything to completely overhaul and tune the engine.
How many times did you start it before it idled? Love the dedication , trying to get stuff done while flooding was happening. You got some cojones kid!
All on video. It pretty much idled right off the bat
Visual definition of perseverance. Great job!
This was awesome to watch and I love that you are also a Christian and good job doing this bro, thought it was just a piece of junk! God bless brother
I have always liked the Fe Ford engine but now I have new profound respect for them I just can't believe it ran
That actually is an FT engine.
Good shit man. As a Ford guy and someone who grew up doing this sort of thing. Keep it going man. Can't wait to dive into more videos
i hope your content doesnt change, you have an actual story and i feel the grind with you
its awesome, dude
If it's cylinders and rings weren't bad before they probably are after all that continued starting fluid rather than gasoline. Either isn't cylinder friendly
Wow
Man I can’t even believe that it’s running!!!
Awesome work !!!
Awesome job guys keep the videos coming!!
Damn boy you had to work hard for that, great job!
Great video, love you bro your personality is everything ❤

Shes a fixer upper, but it's a beast if it survived many floods. Keep her and put her to good use.
Yea thats pretty crazy
watching people fall over never gets old
330 FT engine.
great job getting it running.
Man you deserve so many more views
I always said this is my most underrated vid.
@@BradenBuildz it really is
He'll that aluminum box is worth a lot knock all the metal off it and take it down to sale at the junk yard that's a pretty penny 👌
Liked and subscribed 👍🏽
Good too know it was kept up well and had the water changed once a year 😂
You need to get you one of them Lonewolf starters like Derek on Vice Grip Garage, good work though. 👍
I was anxiously awaiting the largest ether backfire in recorded history. Glad you missed that one. For future reference, a less volatile option is a soda bottle full of gasoline with a nail hole through the cap. A steady drip keeps most things running while you bumblefuck around.
Can’t believe it wasn’t totalled , amazing if the water is pure ie no salt that it can be saved
Good Job Braden. Just came across this vid. I there still a part 2 coming?
