I went to Job Corp in the 70s and it was the turning point of my life. I still practice some of the things I learned from being in Job Corp. The way I make up my bed, how I dress for a job interview, how I conduct myself on my job etc etc. I miss those days.

Angela Davis annoyed me by constantly referring to The Black Panther Party's impact on young Afrikans in Amerikkka. I was born in 1950s UK. The impact of the Panthers was profound. Many of us were banned from wearing Black Panther badges, Afros and talking "that Black Power stuff", in schools and colleges. There were many chapters of The Black Panther Party across the UK. It was a worldwide movement, linking us to the universal struggle for our humanity. The Black Panther Party was NOT a failure. AMANDLA AWETHU ✊🏿🖤

thank you for sharing. don't be mad at the sister who fought just like you did. she probably meant no offense. she's an American and was based there. it's nothing personal. she loves all black people

@@ladymiss9466 Respect . I'm not mad but disturbed by little or no acknowledgement of the struggle waged by young Afrikans in the UK and elsewhere in the diaspora, during this period. Similarly and our contribution to the liberation struggles across Afrika during the 1970s and '80s appears to have been erased from history.

That report on Huey P. Newton at the beginning made my head hurt. 🤦🏾‍♀️ It really shows how little this system teaches us to think critically, and the sad thing is, I would expect them to do the same kind of report or worse nowadays. It was CONTENTLESS drivel!
How little they told their audience about the man! How many times were the words 'criminal' and 'murderer' used? It's practically all they said, aside from how the police saw him!
They were absolutely sure to say nothing about where he came from, nothing about his goals, nothing about his effects in organizing, helping develop theory, and in building up the people. Worse than a 3rd grade book report!

The way I see it is John 10:10. We have a spiritual enemy of our soul that wants to kill, steal, and destroy us-ALL of us, regardless of who we are. He uses anything and everyone to destroy us. Until we see who the real enemy is, we will be fighting the wrong battle. This is a spiritual battle for truth that we are fighting here.

It's easy to criticize on what the black panther party should have done when you were not their and when you seek validation from the oppressor on how the struggle should have been conducted, the odds against the black panther party by the FBI,police, judiciary and the Us.government who were acting similar like the Gestapo

Is it just me or was the programme trying at all times to paint a picture of a batshit crazy-ass Huey Newton, and the party as some mad fantasy from his insane head by extention? And the girls patiently explaining repeatedly how brave a man was Huey and the party a genuine exemple of revolutionary mass organization

You know I was a little girl growing up in S.F. when the Black Panthers were popular. I never understood who they were and why until many many years later. I'm sad about how the black people were treated back then it was AWFUL. I know the daughter of the Police Officer who was shot and killed by Huey Newton, boy he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As I feel so bad for the daughter of the cop he shot, I also understand what happened now. Very Sad story all the way around.

My pops was a mexican teen when they were popular living in the north bay. Super interesting times, and I'm fascinated with this history. It breaks my heart that my childhood is the byproduct of white flight, because the friends I've made in the bay area have had some hard lives, and they grew up 5 mins down the freeway.

Dont confuse publicity with actual organizing or activism. From Tubman, Assata, Afeni, Simone and today the 3 founding members of Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi do alot of grassroots organizing even Maxine Waters who has recently received some publicity has done alot in her past that is under appreciated.
