Such a shame that this video has less than half of the views as the first intro. I know people get scared of that terrifying word: solo. I was terrified of a couple of words: Cliffs of Dover. This man taught me how to play it through smoothly. Please, I beg you to try it out. If you like the song, then learn it, no questions asked. Just practice, practice, practice. Thanks for everything Carl!
This is my first attempt at a solo. Though I learnt many fingerstyles throught my acoustic playing, this will be my first electric guitar solo attempt. But I must be honest, the solo seems a tad bit easier compared to the intro.
Had 2 Months to learn 3 sets playing lead in a new band, mostly songs I had never played and just wanted to say Thank you Carl, you literally made it possible. Your vids are mint and pitched right at my level. Very grateful.
Your tutorials are the best, but this is honestly..when I searched for tutorials in my early state of playing..you provided the best tutorials, and still are so THANKS A LOT FOR EVERYTHING! You will get so many more subscribers, cant believe you don't have over a million with this quality videos :D !
this video was uploaded almost 8 years ago and this dude still liking comments! thank you for the lesson, everything was clearly explained. learned it fast. keep up the good work!
+thebastard gamer I'm fairly certain all of us know what a half bend, full bend, pre bend etc. is. He said, "for the train effect", i.e. the doppler effect we experience when a train passes by, and then proceeded to say "not the band (i.e. Train), the actual train. Even if one were to hear what he said as 'bend' and not 'band', the statement wouldn't make sense, since we're using an oblique bend to get the effect anyway. Gee, I'm not laughing at this anymore - having to defend comments on UA-cam sucks the living joy out of everything!!
Thanks for a great video, I have been playing it for awhile and it was great to get the video to illustrate some sections I was not quite right. You are one of the most accurate transcribers on the tube with a great ability to explain the break down of each part. Cheers
Great video! just minor correction that somebody might find useful: at 3:32 you incorrectly say "15, 14 on G then to 15, 14, 12 on G" which is not what you are doing in your intro - you are doing 15 on G then 12 on B and then 15, 14, 12 on G. I figured it out from slowing down your video and looking at what you are doing in the 0:29-0:31 mark.
Carl, you are the best Man. Learned very much from you. Thx for this hours full of fun. I wish you the very Best. Please dont stop your work. Learning Songs without Tabs is better for me, cause I see your Fingers.
loved the tutorial, one of the best out there, learned it all but I'm new mainly with electric and i have the behringer paddle, but how could i get this rock sound.
Awesome lesson man! Thanks! I like how you break it down,, I learned alot an just watched the lesson, i havent even tried to play it yet,, but think i will do well!,,,lol.,,whoever says you cant do a song cause of threat of being Sued, should b Sued!!,,lol
Can someone explain to me how he maneges to make his hammer ons and pull offs so loud each i do them they so quiet that i have to pick the string again to make it sound louder
i remember trying to learn this when I was ten. I only played like ten of the actually notes, basically only summarized the solo lol. now its really easy, it used to feel like a super fast shredded solo now its really slow.
5:43 to 5:58 I don't get that part. I can play all of the solo but i don't understand the timing of this.. I didn't get it in Marty's tutorial and i don't get it here.. :(
Presley Keller You can find it here ua-cam.com/play/PLOBqO_KghqI7qp1N_tDJ46zmWlSHUtbc8.html in my Metallica lesson playlist. All of my lessons are organized into playlists on my channel homepage. :)
PLEASE EXLPLAIN slower or even show notes slow because your talk is so mumbling and its too hard to figure out where the hell is your every finger every second.. GOOD VIDEOS BUT TEACHING SUCKS.:D too fast.
I see a lot of comments from beginners who can't even follow this VVVERY simple solo (I was a beginner too so I understand) and those comments are like 4-5 years old: I wonder where those same guys are now, if they became pro or they just became nice guitar players
Why does everyone pull down when doing vibrato and bends on the G and B strings?. I was taught somewhere that you're supposed to bend up on the 3 high strings, and pull down on the 3 low strings.. I've been playing for roughly 5 years, and vibrato and bends really piss me off.
Liam Liam Liam just practice that part over and over really slow. I mean really slow! You'll figure out how to get your fingering it just takes time and practice is all. If youre not already, try bending the g string with the 3rd finger with just your 2nd finger supporting (or also fretting the note behind which is the 13th fret). Get that down nice n slow and work on keeping the 1st finger ready to come down on the 12th fret B string. To roll it onto the high e string, try flattening it after the b string is played, making sure its behind the fret enough for it to ring out. It doesnt matter if youre still also fretting the b string for now (like a double stop) as you can work on just lifting the tip of your finger after you play the b string and roll to the high e, which will mute the b string. You wanna aim to initially fret that b string 12th fret with the tip of your 1st finger, and as you roll or flatten your finger onto the high e string, you'll be fretting it with like the underside of your finger instead of the tip. Like a mini barre! Hope it helps man :) keep on practicin and remember, with accuracy comes speed. Some really simple licks have taken me weeks to play before, just have to stick at it!
I like how this guy can just play any solo and just say, “Hey guys it’s Carl Brown from Guitar lessons 365” 😂
Casual for him
Haha, I thought about the same thing and finally saw sb, who saw that 😂
This one is ez but on his Eruption and Randy Rhoads tribute solo I laughed my ass off when he said it
You should look one Pt.4 main solo lesson :)
I mean, what do you expect him to say he’s making these videos to teach not to show off

This is leaps and bounds easier for me than the rest of the song 😆😆
@@clifford_2zero7 forrewl LOL. Solo is prob the easiest part from the song.

"Not the band, the actual train" lol the way he said it
Just wanna say i learned all my metallica riffs from your videos thankyou so much
This man literally have 0 haters, and its totally understandable why. Thank you man.
I love Carl's face at 0:22. He's looks like "Damn, that's a hell of a sound", then right after "No, wait. Gotta look cool for the video." 🤣

"Not the Band, the actual train".. Hahaha
+Abhishek Subbaiah he said "Not the bend, the actual train"
+thebastard gamer Nope he said band
Jacob Goodman
he said BEND it was a thing on guitar where you reach high pitch tones by bending the string. There's half bend and full bend.
+thebastard gamer I'm fairly certain all of us know what a half bend, full bend, pre bend etc. is.

God damn it, i'm stupid, thanks for clarifying it. I was thinking of the exact opposite of what he really said.
Thanks for a great video, I have been playing it for awhile and it was great to get the video to illustrate some sections I was not quite right. You are one of the most accurate transcribers on the tube with a great ability to explain the break down of each part. Cheers
This solo is underrated as hell. I think it's because it's so short. Hetfield has an amazing ear for melody, definitely better than Kirk's.
It’s not underrated it’s like one of the most popular guitar solo ever! But yeah it is a legendary solo and it will never get old
Underrated? 💀
This dude can make any song easy! I love these videos

hey i didn’t pick up on the second bend is it 14 and 15 or 14 and 12
FLAWLESS!
Thanks 4 the lesson . what are chords on the nice rock riff at the intro of your video ?
Why does everyone pull down when doing vibrato and bends on the G and B strings?. I was taught somewhere that you're supposed to bend up on the 3 high strings, and pull down on the 3 low strings.. I've been playing for roughly 5 years, and vibrato and bends really piss me off.
Perfect. Thanks very very much.
so if i listen to it right, the melody actualy are the low notes played in the chorus? (D,D, second fret A-string and third-second and open E)?
Hey Carl what kind of guitar is that?
Is this just distortion or is there an effect used in original recording and or here?
Thanks 4 the lesson
hey i really suck at the part when bend 14th on g then you roll on 12 fret on B to E any tips?
