@@johnhell1453 Fuuuuuuuuck off. Blake played some ideas that Theodore brought to life. Also, all of France was Theodore and he kicked absolute ass on that, and also, live he was a fucking machine.
Fuck! 8 years and still no sign of a reunion!! I hope it's not until then ffs.. With that said, I hope they bring back Jon Theodore or Thomas Pridgen on drums.
4:35 sweet jesus that howling guitar and then Juan's fucking steamroller of a bassline on top of JT's sick drumming. That's some top tier jamming right there.
I got to see this tour when they were in Chicago back in '05. They came with System of a Down. That night i checked off two great bands off of my "i need to see before i die" list.
You can say what you want because taste is subjective. But fuck these guys are so damn talented and if nothing else you HAVE to respect the amount energy they brought EVERY. SINGLE. PERFORMANCE. That shit is just in their souls. Fantastic
wonderful!!! i didn't know there was pro-shot material of 2005 mars volta...best mars volta in my opinion :D i'd really love to see frances stuff too!!! if there is something!!
Damn… the new videos with the new drummer are just not doing it. After Jon And Thomas Pridgen to the new drummer. I get that they’re not the same anymore but having a drummer that can truly hold that legacy should have been a requirement in my humble opinion. Oh well, I’ll still be seeing them in two weeks cause the Volta is the Volta regardless.
You should probably withhold this judgement until after seeing them on this tour. I've been to a few of the dates and I'm here to say Philo is the real deal. She handle Jon's stuff perfectly and has been killing it on all of the new jams. She's actually gotten even more into the groove of the group since the tour has gone on. The feeling amongst everyone I've talked to who has seen this tour is that she is perfect.
man u just dont get such a flawless performance out of cedric like u did in the old days on the cd both the new and old volta sounds amazing but live, there's nothing like this volta
I don't give two shits what anyone says... Jon Theodore is by far my favorite Mars Volta drummer.
Well, the majority of TMV fans agree with you so, uh...ok
Robert Fischer then actually, Blake Fleming would be your favorite TMV drummer
@@johnhell1453 Fuuuuuuuuck off. Blake played some ideas that Theodore brought to life. Also, all of France was Theodore and he kicked absolute ass on that, and also, live he was a fucking machine.
Isn’t that the opinion of all?
I like to think John Bonham is looking down on Jon Theodore from somewhere and saying "son of a bitch, he's good."
Nobody is talking about the guy behind the sound board. The mix on this is impecable 🔥...2022 anyone?
Looking foward for 2030 The Mars Volta Reunion.
Haha
Called it
Lo espero man
Fuck! 8 years and still no sign of a reunion!! I hope it's not until then ffs.. With that said, I hope they bring back Jon Theodore or Thomas Pridgen on drums.
@@gkm2928 well, no Ikey, I doubt it’ll happen. If it does, I hope they bring back Jon Theodore
Wow a Mars Volta live recording where you can hear the congas/auxilarry percussion. Is this foreal?
I've seen a ton of performances of this song, but this has to the best. Every member of the band is killing it here.
The lowlands one makes the song even better for me
by far
They should just turn MTV into TMV
it will never be this great again,..but we gotta move on
southgallatin 9 years later this comment is still hard to accept
@@NickB-md1oy I know 😣😣😣😣
NO!
Get well soon Juan!!! Need you for the reunion!!
Why the hell is no one here appreciating Marcel at 12:03?
GO MARCEL YOU BLOODY BEAST GO
hahah, of course people are appreciating marcel.
they're too busy cleaning up their pants after 4:59
theodore murders the kit on this shit. this is all so good.
Emilio Lopez Jon’s a beast

Maybe the best Mars Volta performance of Drunkship of Lanterns ever. Everybody's here on point!
it's good, but they did this shit every nite for about 6 years or so? maybe more....
i mean w. theodore at least.
Perhaps you haven't heard Philly, May 3rd, 2005... ; ]
I really like these guys because they have their own sound. You can't say that about too many bands from this generation. Very unique.
I like how Omar gives Jon the Okay head nod in the beginning
+Alex Collins "Yes, I am done. We may start playing now"
+Proxima Centauri lol
Well he was the director of the band and music
The Best times of mars volta :')
jon theodore.
Goodbye to the greatest band of all time :'(
@@hoppa845 Too bad they picked up where they left off instead of recapturing what made them great.
idk what's more shocking about this video, the fact that it's pro-shot 05 volta with Theodore, or that it was on Mtv...
this is musicianship at it's finest.
that's the volta I saw live.... that was a great show... and they played for 2 hours and 50 minutes!
six musics then? haha
Watching in 2018 this guys are all great every musician combined creating this awesome !
if i had a time machine, i would first use it to see a tmv show at their peak
Make sure you sneak in the piff and booze in the parking lot before walking in
@@isaiahdelacruz8703 i'll just bring my pen and show the past people the magic of digital weed
Great band live and everybody seems to talk bad about Omar but i think he's great 👏.........

the switchup at 10:50 on the drums is amazing
They are so amazing.. My favorite band
Claro! Son el pináculo de mármol varado en Marte con habitantes Tremulantes.
12:36 they way he plays, man, i gonna miss this dude
MTV would b my favorite network if they would show the mars volta again
one of the most fun songs ever to drum. Lost my mind hearing this album for the first time. Theodore is the best 👌

4:58 made me lose my shit.
that part killed me then brought me back to life all at once
me as well. I love that part
Hell yeah
Cedric sounds the best here and you can hear all of jons stuf
7:10 "Do you want a little [redacted]? Come aboard" - Cedric Bixler-Zavala
pretty sad that back then i was 14 and listened to shit like mcr and didnt appreciate the true genius of this lol
Its ok i listened to the mars volta while listening to MCR. Glad i was able to experience both and am glad you get experience tmv now too!
Haha I liked TMV before I ever heard of MCR and ended up loving both.
"I got blisters on my fingers!!"
Playing a tmv concert most be fucking painful
Brutal mix … totally on point.
This was peak time for TMV in my opinion. I am glad I was there.
God damn that mtv logo. This is nostalgic. No one can still do it like these guys vamos mis chicanos y tejanos
dont even compare coheed and cambria to mars volta hahaha
Damn those guys put it all out there don't they? Wow.
5:00 that bass !
i need a juan cam. i could never get close to playing like him, but i can photoshop myself and pretend.
it was their epic live shows that people raved about. and how they become mainstream
la época más gloriosa de Mars Volta!!!
2:45 Cedric is literally Shipdrunk walking.

i'd really love to see frances stuff too!!! if there is something!!
volta always holds such a legendary lineup
Unmatched by others
See there was such a thing called rock and roll back in the 1950's-70's and the mars Volta was just channeling it :)
The BAND played that amazingly
O filho de jonh paul Jones no baixo, mera comparação.o cara é bom juntamente com o baterista.
El manso viaje
@BihlCosbi THANK YOU. You summed up most of my thoughts perfectly. (Except he wasn't my favorite of the bunch.)
good lord when cedric hits the notes BLISS non stop
Amazing!!
Keep your wives and daughters at home guys. Theodore is playing drums
that’s a very odd thing to say
Indeed.

Holy shit!
@awwwscar whoops had wrong TMS url. Now fixed. This entire tour (Feb 5,6, 8) should be denoted as last "de-loused era" shows.

Sonic Mania festival... huh. How bout that.
Where tf do Mars Volta find these drummas
They played many times in MTV. 4 times I think.
@MirroredxGh0st it aint brand new but, hes got an album with Zach De La rocha called "wylde international"
why does it say "cygnuss"?
I think they took it from the setlist printed out, which the jam section in this show, had many parts of Cygnus from Frances The Mute in it.
@@woobiehastelly ooh good idea

Did Jon drop a drum stick? Is this the first and perhaps only time his mortal side has shown??

And now they're broken up :(
Who IS "The Marble Shrine"?
Even we don't know!
Cygnuss.. That's why MTV sucks
