Much better unboxing than the amateur one I did on my channel! I did mine to share with a couple friends and I was shocked that almost 600 people checked it out. Anyway, I bought unassembled, thinking I could leverage my car model building skills from high school. 20 hours later, I'm about halfway done and questioning the sanity of that decision. However, looking at the models in yours, I do see that I'm spending way more time than Archon did. I notice they didn't file or sand a lot of the sprue attachments down and at least one of the models didn't have the foot pressed into the base all the way. I guess the perfectionist in me is now glad I went with the unassembled version. We've played twice now and have enjoyed the game quite a bit--thanks for covering this!
Event cards: The game is more deterministic in that you see all patrols and spawns and even what will come when the alarm sounds, so you can plan around that better. These events are the wild cards that screw up your plans :)
Keen to hear your thoughts on this, I played it solo a few weeks back. It was pretty fun :-) Word of advice, don't forget those damn Officers and their infernal re-roll skill ;-)
I am confused, is this the kickstarter or the retail edition? Because you mentioned that you did not back it. Because, for retail this looks expensive and awesome
Ironically, I had minis from their unicast and HIPS for Wolfenstein and directly compared them and the HIPS were sharper in several areas. At their time, the resin minis were outstanding, but technology always improves :) Just look at KDM minis from 2015 and now and you'll see the improvement.
I think burncycle, is more accessible then Too Many Bones. I really love too many bones, but their is always confusion with my player group and a learning curve for each of the characters.
Loved the original Wolfenstein for PC. Ya... I'm that old. And totally hoping this game will do it justice and be just as awesome. (Disclaimer: it was awesome for its time. Trust me)
Funny they are asking those of us that back assembled to now that $15 store credit to get non assembled . With no time frame you must be lucky to get a copy.
I enjoyed the 2009 Wolfenstein, but it definitely seems like Bethesda’s Wolfensteins are better games, so I should probably get them for my Switch someday. To wit, it doesn’t surprise me that the manual would be highly visual for those of us who are not primarily board game players. 🙃 Also, I’ve mostly had Swiss Army Knives, but I did have one of CRKT’s weeb knives, the Hissatsu folder if I recall correctly, and it was pretty nice. And, on the subject of some assembly being required, I’ve got the 1/144 Gundam American Type some months back to give me something fun and kitschy to do on the 4th of July. 🙃
I wonder how this will fare against Reichbusters. But from some first reactions I'd guess Wolfenstein is probably not quite worth it, typical Prodos/Archon stuff..
Hands down Wolfenstein is the better game IMO. I did a versus video on it I think? IMO, Wolfenstein will change a lot of attitudes of Archon as a game developer. I look very forward to seeing it's final state and hearing what Alex thinks on it.
