I think this might be my favourite series. Watching things that resemble more ‘playground’ style decks and cards I played with as a kid just brings me back. Can’t wait for the era’s I missed (5d’s-pend) and see what people were playing then
I am not that interested in this series but still think that it was a good idea to create it. Hopefully people in history will now stop complaining about them not showing casual decks and it will allow them to focus more on the acutal evolution of the meta game. That way everyone gets to watch what they enjoy. History for people who are interested in the evolution of the most powerful decks, history of jank for casual players and progression for people who like sealed duels

I remember when History of Yugioh first started, and I was really on the fence on MBT. Didn't take long for him to become my favourite part of all these series.
Plus he was part of the greatest moment of Yugioh history where Cimo millenium eyed Joseph's hand and predicted the cards that would seal his own demise. I don't think I've laughed that hard in ages.

Dang, Cimo was running about 11 back row removal cards from his deck and side deck combined. I knew that after game 1, MBT had no chance to win the match considering PACMAN needs floodgates to win 😬
The other guy sent his Mudsa Worm to the Graeyard when Swarm of Scarabs was banished, leaving his Life Points open so Cimo didn't even need the removal, his opponent did it for him even though there were NO CARD EFFECTS to make it happen. (Sorry Locusts but still I DON'T SEE ANYU COMMENTS ABOUT THIS, where are the HIsotry of Misplays people? Are they too high and mighty to watch cooler cards being used than stuff fromt hat series?

It always surprised me from the beginning of YGO that so few people were playing Solemn Judgment. I was able to have the run of my LGS for months off the back of 3 Judgments and Jirai Gumo...until Chaos entered the fray. So many kids were afraid to lose life points, but I knew from the very beginning after reading the rules at age 14 that the only LP that matters is the last one. Considering how well-understood that concept was in MtG, I'm surprised there weren't more Suicide.DEC MtG transplants ready to dominate the kids of YGO.
Even worse for Last Will in its original Japanese printing: it didn't specify "once per turn" so people would literally smash Sangan and Witch into stuff to search all 5 pieces of Exodia. Although, Last Will does specify that the card needs to leave from the field face up, I think you were confusing the effects of Sangan and Witch because originally they activated from any form of hitting the GY (like White Stone of the Ancients and the other one that lets you search a Blue Eyes)
That's not the only time Cimo abuses his lack of knowledge of Yugioh to win this match. I just checked NObleman of Crossout's text and nowhere on it does it say it can send another mosnter to the Graveyard immediately after banishing a face-down, and yet Cimo doesn't say anything when his opponent does exactly that.

Its the opposite for me. The rooting against cimo part i mean. I'm just always rooting for him in these videos and MBT is my second favourite. Though Robert is also really fun to watch. Cimo gets way too much hate imo 😂

Last Will in the OCG also didn't have any explicit once per turns, it was part of a Cannon Soldier FTK that devastated the format because initially it wasn't clear the effect could only be used once so people would continually summon Witch and Sangan and tribute them off with Cannon Soldier. It also had this problem in the very early days in the TCG, because the original printing of Last Will is so badly written. Back just about as UDE was starting to extend official tournament support in the Pre-Season (Metal Raiders) day, you can see tournament reports by players who simply went to their local game store and played a tournament who lost to Last Will combo decks because no one knew how the card worked.

All those flip effects really take me back. In my early days learning the game, my decks tended to consist of mostly Flip-based strategies (and I use the word "strategies" very loosely).
Two things, the first is that Cimo is cold for putting that much spell/trap removal in his deck when he knows that Joe wants to play PACMAN, second, is this another Cimo RPS stack? Or a counting error? Hmmmmm. 11:35.
I actually ran a Chaos Pacman deck once upon a time, when BLS was allowed at 1 again. This was in the Synchro era pre-XYZ monsters, so the game didn't get so fast for me that I couldn't pick up wins. The difference between traditional and Chaos? Well BLS is the big win con. But also, Magician of Faith, Marshmallon, and Spirit Reaper, along with the camel, scarabs, locusts, and birds. The basis of the deck remained the same, I just added in 5 more monsters for a small Chaos package, and it gave me a legit win con that I could drop after getting so much advantage.

This inspired me to make my own Pac-Man build, and, then, it was so fun I wanted to try to make it modernly playable. Long story short, when I feel like casual play, I use a Pac-Man deck that has the guru control package, boosted by terrors from the underground and lord of the heavenly prison.

As a goat format player and a huge Rescue Cat OTK deck enthusiast, I had headaches when Cimo played the deck. But I can't really blame him for that, he doesn't really play the format that much. Fun fact: There are only 2 2-card combos in goat that deal over 8k damage on their own. The deck also ran The Wicked Worm Beast to dodge destruction in end phase or Des Wombat to push for over 8k damage on an empty board. Also, I think Last Will got banned because of Cyber-Stein (but I'm not 100% sure).

Last Will was even MORE broken on release in Japan than how Cimo describes it. It was worded in such a vague way that you could EVERY time a monster was sent to the graveyard on the turn you activate Last Will you could summon a monster. So with a single Last Will and a single Cannon Soldier you could infinite loop your way into either burning your opponent to death or sending Sangans and Witches to search out Exodia.
Some brief history of P.A.C.M.A.N. for folks wondering why this deck was so common: P.A.C.M.A.N. Used to be an amazing deck before Konami came in with certain rulings about how the cards worked that changed our understanding of them and made them infinitely worse. Before those rulings, the cards were treated by the community at large like FLIP: effect monsters and triggered when hit because they seemed to be worded in that way. They also could flip themselves up and down multiple times because the effect of flipping it face down was thought to refresh upon being flipped face up. It was a lawless time. This deck left such a lasting impression on Yu-Gi-Oh that it would later inspire the creation of Wind-Ups and Ghostricks.
What am I missing? In game two when cimo noblemans the scarab MBT send the Medusa worm to grave too and then sangan attacks directly. Why did the Medusa worm go to grave?

Some brief history of P.A.C.M.A.N. for folks wondering why this deck was so common:
P.A.C.M.A.N. Used to be an amazing deck before Konami came in with certain rulings about how the cards worked that changed our understanding of them and made them infinitely worse. Before those rulings, the cards were treated by the community at large like FLIP: effect monsters and triggered when hit because they seemed to be worded in that way. They also could flip themselves up and down multiple times because the effect of flipping it face down was thought to refresh upon being flipped face up. It was a lawless time. This deck left such a lasting impression on Yu-Gi-Oh that it would later inspire the creation of Wind-Ups and Ghostricks.
Haven’t started the duel part yet but based on the decks I think cimooooooo has the advantage here.

What am I missing? In game two when cimo noblemans the scarab MBT send the Medusa worm to grave too and then sangan attacks directly. Why did the Medusa worm go to grave?
