Also old ruling on Geartown, it missed timing if another field spell is activated. You need to set the new field spell to trigger. Doesn’t really make a difference though.
It actually did Matter g2 since Every single Card Drawn t2 onward for MBT Could be argued to not have been drawn, thus leading to a whole scinario of what would be drawn and such
Pretty sure it only misses timing if the owner of Geartown activates a field spell on top of it. In that instance, the Geartown is instantly destroyed as soon as the next field spell is activated, so the last thing that happens is the field spell resolving. In the only-one-field-spell-for-both-players days, if you controlled a Geartown and your opponent activated their own field spell, your field spell stayed up until the activation of theirs finished resolving (you could even save yours by chaining MST or something to it and destroying it before it resolved). In that case, the last thing that happened would be Geartown being destroyed, so it wouldn't miss timing.
@@SuperSayianWarrior Usually when they get a ruling wrong, it results in an impossible game state. The game state at the end of turn 1 in game 2 perfectly matches a game state where MBT set Necrovalley, summoned the Dragon from Gear Town, then flipped Necrovalley face up afterwards.
I like this era of yugioh a ton. Monster effects hadn't replaced trap cards yet, so you see these combo decks still running tons of traps anyway since monsters with quick effects or invulnerability were few and far between.
And now, for traps to be useful at all, they have to either be absolutely broken or easily searchable. The Solemns are the only exceptions to this, because if there's one thing that is good in YGO, it is just saying "Nope". Honestly, I think they could unban the ridiculously powerful Return from the Different Dimension and it would only see niche play, because as powerful an effect it is, very few decks can actually take advantage of using it during your opponent's turn, and having to wait out your opponent's turn to use it on your own is a difficult storm to weather. On top of that, Lancea would utterly demolish any such strategy (as it already does to dinos). Also, how interesting would it be to see Kycoo in sides again?

I’m happy we’ve entered the XYZ’s era, and I’m patiently waiting for when they reach Dragon Ruler format since that was my personal favourite format during this era (also I just REALLY LOVE the Dragon Ruler archetype).
ah it's been great to be in the era where i started for the last few months, but the most recent few is the era i really remember my first big events with.
So I'm not sure if this worked this way back then, but now whenever someone declares an attack and either player responds to that declaration, the chain built is in response to the attack, so when the chain resolves the attack will go through immediately if neither the number of monsters changed, forcing a redeclare of the attack, or the attack is negated. This functionally means if neither of those conditions are met, only one chain is allowed per attack declaration, so around the 13 minute mark when you're book of moon got dark bribed, the chain resolves, the attack is successful, and you enter the damage step and can no longer activate compulsory.
Also love all the series you're running! As much as I enjoy modern competitive play I spend just as much time at home making jank decks with my friends from all my bulk.
Only one chain is allowed on attack declaration, yes. However, you can have any number of chains during the Battle Step. This is true both for current format and back in 2011. You don't immediately enter the Damage Step after one chain.
Great vid love this series have not missed one episode yet can't believe your on tg"s already seems like yesterday episode 1 with attacking with normals agents MBT
The deck Cimo is playing is very similar deck I played when Qliphorts where to the top deck. I just added in fire and ice hands and 3 Skill Drains. I side decked Forbidden Chalice for the Qli match up. Beast King + Chalice in damage step beat Qli Towers pretty easily at the time.
Fun fact: at 13:18 cimo was able to activate compulse but not on attack declaration anymore. Instead he need to activate it in battle step (most people don’t know or use for some reason). If Joseph just activate skill drain in battle step, there was no way for cimo even to activate the compulse
Attack declaration takes place in the battle step What he is actually doing is activating it before damage step. There is no limit to the number of chains that can be activated in the before damage step(or the damage step for that matter). What you can't do is have multiple chains in the attack declaration window

Ah, back to the days where a trap was actually a literal trap which had to be laid down before activation. And monsters functioned as monsters with unique effects, not as Omni negating-recursing-searching-flood gates with a minuscule 2000+ attack points.
As someone who quit YGO in 2008, I really wish you had explained how XYZ monsters work. I think I get the gist of it now, but still curious if the overlayed monsters keep any of their properties while in that state.
22:34 why would you risk getting your oppression negated? Rai-oh is right there!!
Rai-Oh cannot be used against an activated effect like Geartown.
Is it just me or did MBT forget to banish a second copy of Cyber End Dragon when he summoned another Malefic Cyber End Dragon?
He forgot
he forgor 💀
Gotta love "oops I forgot to search let me mulligan my draw for turn. Oh look it's dark hole"
You cannot dust tornado necrovalley with malefic on board in game 2. Malefics specifically prevent destruction of field spells by card effects.
Is that the secret effect of malefic cyber end dragon?
@@mattr791 I'm pretty sure that malefics have a line of text that has a similar effect to field barrier preventing field destruction. Malefics don't prevent field spells from being set though.
Self-Edit: It appears that only certain malefics have that text (malefic stardust). Dust tornado on necrovalley is legal.
Finally caught up with this series, and I just want to say I absolutely love how you guys yell and call each other fucking idiots, fools, morons, etc. It's like two old friends who know they can insult the hell out of each other in good fun. It's a great opposite dynamic to the progression series where it's like watching two chill friends hanging out at a game store, talking about their pulls and upgraded decks.
Monke deck is like poetry, it rhymes;
Me Unga
Me Bunga
Me attack for game with big Numba
Game 1 technically with Raioh under skill drain, you could have searched with Rhinos effect
This marks the first time we returned to Monke in the history of yu-gi-oh. But it's nice that we are finally getting to Generation Force and the September 2011 list. I've been anticipating this episode for a while now. I hope that next episode you will make it Tengut Plants vs T.G. Agents. That's the matchup I'd like to see the most
We need to see the Generation Fish deck. Some idiots were brave enough to try it at the time.
Why did Cimo not grab the Warwolf in game 3 when he had the horn? Even if he didn't want to boost the Warwolf with the horn, the warwolf could float into the Rhino and so on.
Everyone in the comments: Smart enough to realize that Gear Town misses timing if a field spell is activated over it.
Also everyone in the comments: Not smart enough to realize that this literally doesn't matter, and MBT is just skipping steps to save time.
Remember this is the same chat that couldn't remember pot of duality was activated twenty seconds before Cimo didnt summon off of Reborn tengu getting bounced.
@@Adderflail Oh yeah, that one was especially funny given how often the chat had yelled at them before for special summoning under Duality.
Ahhhhhhh one of my favorite deck tg stun
I loved playing TG agents during this time, it was a tier 2 deck which got fucking ruined by the banlist when better decks were left unscathed the list around then, was probably the most bitter list for me, it felt very just pro xyz.
GO! SYNCHRO SHOKAN! CMON! TECH GENUS HYPER LIBRARIAN!
RIP Bruno
It probably wasn't good, but it is a shame we don't get to see the magical hat and gear town interaction.
So many times MBT should’ve missed timing on geartown
Alex also could’ve made geartown miss timing with MST
T.G. = Tech Genus!
Beast king in game 2 was supposed to get banished.
29:13 5HEAD READ 😂😂
MBT blindly Royal Tributing to go -2 really wrecked him first game :'(
I cant tell which one is wearing "the shirt of shame" they both look like they wearing "the shirt of came."
You'd find a 3rd gender before you'd find a single 1mmx1mm square on either one of them that wouldn't glow brighter than the star of Bethlehem on Christmas night under a blacklight.
