My son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 3. The first 3 months he cried the entire time we had to go in for chemo. I would hold him but he was just so scared. As you say, do what you think you can't. Andrew is now almost 12 and cancer free for 4 years!
I had no idea your sister and her husband were adopting! How fun and exciting! Congratulations to them! I am so glad too see you slowly starting to get back to yourself! You'll be back to feeling better and doing handstands in no time! ❤️❤️❤️
Well Mary.... you are just awesome!! My name is Micah but I don't mind being called "The People". I don't have CF but you inspire me everyday. Lots and love from New Jersey. ❤❤
Congratulations Rachel and Jonathan! What an exciting time! I wish you all the joy and send you all my positive thoughts of support and strength so your new little one can have a long, happy and healthy life. ❤
One thing I can tell you about having a child in the hospital for most of her life is that sometimes, you are right its overwhelming when a child won't stop crying. Babies cry a lot but when they cry at home where you know its not bothering other people or you know they are just going through crying jags that babies have that alone can be overwhelming sometimes; in a hospital where you know it is disturbing other people and often the baby/child is crying because they are sick/hurting/frustrated or just scared and there is no distracting them it can set you totally over the edge. I had to learn that it was okay to walk away and thankfully we were are a good Children's Hospital where the Nurses were good at supporting that fact. They had volunteer 'sitters' all over the place that they would come and ask if their 'volunteer' could have some 'baby time' (like we were doing the volunteer a favor) and let someone else deal with the baby for a while. Actually, it turns out that sometimes babies do better for short periods of time away from mom/dad/caregiver when in a stressed out situation. And sometimes just having another adult come by the door and stop and talk, while "ignoring" the crying and engaging me in conversation - so I could somewhat ignore it - was a relief. Its very hard sometimes when you can't quiet a child and your torn between being worried your child is bothering others and that you might not be 'good enough' to make them feel better and the stress mounts. I know going through it, that as a parent, you find depths you not know you had to deal with it but it helps when people around you do little things that makes you realize that that they too know what your going through. One amazing thing that helped us the most on many hospital visits was when they started having therapy animals in the hospital on a daily basis. There were days when the crying only stopped when the puppy came around, or the ward cat jumped up in the crib. We have a houseful of pets now because animals turned out to be such a great comfort.
You want to know more about your people? ok...I'm Suzy Finigan from Dallas. 66 years young. A Compliance Analyst at an investment company. I grew up in Chicago...went to Wheaton College and my husband went to Moody and Purdue. I'm a follower of Jesus. I love your vlog...I love you two...and I love Ollie!! Thank you so much for letting us share in your days. I pray for you three every day asking God to give you guys long, happy, and productive lives!! Love, Suzy
Hi Mary! Keep up the great work :) Could you maybe eventually talk about/do a video about the role your parents played in your CF journey growing up? Like how they talked about the disease to you and kept you healthy etc?
need to have you as a model for some active wear companies! seriously such an inspiration!!!!! a campaign shot in a hospital room, how incredible would that be!
That girl doing yoga JUST KIDDING MARY😂😂 When you were doing yoga I laughed because you were looking a little crazy funny crazy. Lol Its nice seeing you smile Mary. I really hope your pain is gone soon.
I'm glad you're up and around today Mary and feeling better. I heard the baby crying and yes I've been the mother comforting my child who just didn't seem to want to be comforted.Thank goodness they didn't have any severe illnesses, but I feel for the parents and nurses taking care of that little one. It sounds young and they can't really express what they want. So often I'd offer a bottle, or check the diaper, cuddle and hug just to find out they were crying for the stuffy. Once the little-stuffed animal was in had, the quiet began. That only solved it once or twice, but it happens.
It was so precious when Peter leaned in and it hurt and Mary cringed, then she told Peter sorry and he replied sorry, the love and respect you both have for each other is so beautiful. Congrats on being a new aunt and uncle nieces and nephews are so fun!!!
Mary 🎀🎀🎀🎀I lobe what you said" Do what you think you can't do" That literally just gave me so so so much faith thank you. I can hear the little child crying and it's very painful indeed 🌞I hope the sun shines in their heart.
I am a mama to a year and half old cfer and my heart breaks every time he has a rough clinic visit. We haven't had a hospital stay yet. Thank you so much for recognizing us mamas. We love you guys!! xoxo
Glad to see you looking brighter today. I love your attitude. I'll keep praying for you, Peter and Ollie boy. I covet your prayers for me as I have back surgery on May 11th. I hope that I can be as good of a patient as you seem to be. I am blessed that our Lord sent me a husband that takes as good care of you as Peter does. I have MS and he is there for me all the time. I thank God for men like our husbands. I waited for God to give me the husband of His choosing, not mine. I think that that is what made the difference. Keep up the good work and congrats on almost being an Aunt!
I am having a L5 S1 discectomy. I have had a herniated disc for 15 plus years and have run out of options non-surgically. My big concern is that all this hoopla will cause an exacerbation of my MS. I haven't really had a major MS relapse in over 12 years and I would love to keep that going. Thanks for the prayer traci hilbers!
Back surgery does not sound fun...i last had relapse about 4 years ago, knock on wood,i was bit by a dog and it set off my MS big time...i hope all goes well with the surgery and you have a smooth recovery without the ms interfering...hopefully they will find a cure someday for ms and all the other diseases out there
Its lovely to see everyday that your feeling a lil better mary and it was lovely having a glimps of peter doin what he loves. big hugs to the three of you. loraine from Sunderland in the north east of England xx
I'm 17 & I went in for a CT scan of my tummy today and it ended up that I'm allergic to the x ray dye. I had severe anaphylaxis & all the doctors swarmed in around my bed with worried faces, which is what worried me more than my symptoms! Lol but I am perfectly okay, I know have an epipen just in case I have another reaction within 72 hours from tonight. Bless you Mary & Peter, and bless all the viewers! I love how much we support each other!
watching you mary and Peter, makes me realize, not to take my health for granted. I've been nursing for 30 plus years and I never really knew how it is from the patients perspective. also, am I the only one surprised by your sister and brother in law's baby,..? that shows me how much love and faith your family has. wow surrogacy is very rare in canada and expensive. so I'm impressed.
I myself have a friend who has a condition called Gorlin’s Syndrome and watching her parents go through the struggles that many hospital admissions, surgery, illness, etc brought. Every time that she was inpatient I would try to be there every day to help her parents and comfort her when I could. There were times when it was difficult because her parents were struggling with how sick she was and nobody was able to help so I send hugs to that child’s caretaker since I’ve seen what it’s like for caretakers.
Sooo exiting for Rachel and her husband but also for you. There is something so exciting about becoming an aunt, so very very special. Much love and many hugs :)
How Great Thou Art started playing in the church service and my heart lurched with both warmth and sadness. Such a beautiful hymn. Glad to see you progressing and looking to be a little more comfortable. And such an exciting event for your sis and husband!
Mary - thank you for telling me extensions for port-a-caths exist. They are saving me right now on home IVs. Rachel - so excited for you!!!! The nursery is gorgeous 💕
congrats to your sis... and to you soon to be Auntie Mary! What a lucky little one... to have been blessed to find such a loving family- parents and an aunt/uncle with open arms of love. You're truly my hero... stay strong!
Mary and Peter I just wanted to say thank you to the both of you. After working for a mail order pharmacy as a phone supervisor for the past 11 years everyone was laid off at my sight because of you I'm going to do what I think I couldn't do and go back to school for respiratory therapist. Thank you so much for the inspiration, I graduated in '81 so it's been awhile since I was in school.
Looks like you are healing wonderfully Mary....I know it never seems quick enough though...Congrats on the up coming arrival...being an Auntie is so much fun....I have a 5 yr old niece and a 1 month old nephew....truly special!
I really adore you guys and appreciate what you're doing here. You both, together, are a pillar of stability for people going through similar trials. Thank you for doing what you do and keeping my bedridden-self, entertained and hopeful. You've also amassed one of the most caring and compassionate fanbases I've ever seen on youtube, it's a beautiful thing.
Hi Mary and Peter and Oliver you are showing the world what it's like to have a positive outlook for life and been a Pastor/ Minister of a church you have find the time to grow and look after each other. I am Praying that your sister and her husband will have there little boy soon and you will be able to see him and please give Peter a big hugs and a big hug to Oliver from the land down under ❤️🙏🐶🤗🤗
Congrats to your sister, her husband and their new bundle of joy! We are in the process of trying to finalize our daughter adoption, it is an incredible blessing to be chosen to be a child's parent
I sooo feel you regarding the sun! I lived in small cheap dorms/apartments with small windows and poor light in the rooms during all of my studies and it always made me feel depressed when i stayed inside for too long. When I moved october last year i put big windows and bright rooms at top 1 priority for the new apartment and i was successful! It lifts my mood now everytime!
Congrats to Rachel and Jonathan!! I loved the YoungLife sweater Rachel had on- I heard about them when I was in high school. I hope you are doing well today, Mary! I loved seeing Peter and Ollie all snuggled up like that. Snuggles like that happen with me and my dog too, we just end up tangled together. I felt so bad for the little one crying; he or she and their family are in my prayers. I can't imagine looking after a sick child, I always feel so bad when I'm sick and my mama can't do anything to help. Three years ago (tomorrow in fact) my mom had major surgery on her pancreas which was the first time I was ever not the patient - it was so odd!! Love and prayers to you guys!!
I absolutely love you the bond you two have for each other thank you so much for sharing your beautiful selfs to the world you sure do make my life brighter everyday keep up the great work Mary and hand of a applause for your beautiful relationship
Thumbs up to each of you, Peter and Mary. Ollie deserves a thumbs up as well, he's a real trooper. This has been quite the journey for all of you. Mary, I think you are looking a little better every day - I hope that isn't just my imagination. Congratulations to Rachel and Jonathan, hope to hear of the delivery of that precious little one very soon. Also, I will pray for that little one down the hall from you who is having such a hard time in the hospital. May God bless you all.
Congratulations Rachel & Jonathan! So exciting. And what a beautiful bedroom too ❤️ You are so positive, you're an inspiration to us all. And thumbs up to Peter for being an ace husband 👍🏼
I was rewatching the vlog and Mary made me augh at 11:03 in the vlog because of her face. That moment made my day already. Thanks for making my day Mary
seeing your child in pain and knowing there's nothing you can do is completely soul destroying :( my son is 6 and was diagnosed with cancer in January this year. His chemo treatment gives him pain and weakness that no child should ever have to go through, just yesterday he asked me if he was going to die and it broke my heart in two. kids of that age shouldn't be worrying about death :( love all your videos they keep me going and cheer me up so much. big hugs from Glasgow Scotland xx
Oh my goodness!!!! Such greatness in this video!!!! A precious new little baby boy for your sister and her husband!!!! Being an aunt will fill you with such joy🦋 You are healing so well and this brings us all such joy!!! And man-o-man; those puzzles are StUpEnDoUs🌈💜💙🌈 I went to their website and I'm totally in awe of their beauty!!!!! I have my Christmas gifts all picked out😄🎄 Happiness!!! Kiss that OllieBoy nose for me!!! Love you guys. I'm Jennifer by the way💁🏻
Oh Mary you working so hard brings me so much hope. I've been laying here with a broken knee and setting up couples counseling to see if there's any way to salvage my engagement. I cry constantly but then see you working so hard I feel like it's going to be okay somehow. Also I can't wait to hear about that cute, sweet baby! Welcome any moment! Sending lots of love and thank yous.
Congratulations Rachel and Jonathon! What a exciting and beautiful time for your family. I'll bet Mary can't wait to get her auntie on! 😁 Mary, you look much better today despite the pain - your sparkle is back!
Sunshine makes the day so much better! I spend so much time at work in a room with no windows and winters where I live can be rather gloomy or too cold to be outside so once spring arrives, I'm outside every chance I can get! It's like my body is craving sunlight! I just have to remember my sunscreen or I'll be red as a cherry! Hahaha!
You're looking much better! :) It's amazing when you turn that corner and start feeling human again. Wait till you take a shower that's when I feel human after a surgery. My heart breaks for that little cry in the background. I almost had to stop watching. I have two littles of my own and comforting them when they hurt is one of the hardest things. You just want to trade and take their pain do they don't have to experience it. Keep moving :) and you'll get better and better each day. Your husband is so supportive. You are blessed!
Mary you're looking like you feel better! Keep it up! Every day you'll get stronger! Every summer it seems like one of my girl's were in the children's hospital, but know they are grown up! So to parent's that have to be there I know how hard it is!
Lmao Peter and Ollie on that bed 😂😂😂 I'm so excited for Rachel and Jonathan!!!! I hope things go super smoothly and I'll be keeping them and the birth family in my prayers. I'm not sure if you guys have been able to read many of the comments lately but I just wanted to thank you for being virtually beside me, for a long time really, but especially the past few days. I'm going through a pretty bad chronic pain flare due to weather and stress and my pain management doctor is weaning me off all of the pain medications and this week has just been extremely hard and I've spent 95% of my time in bed, in tears. But between crying with you when we're in pain and laughing/smiling/just being thankful when we're feeling better, these vlogs have helped me so much and I'm so thankful to be a part of the Frey life family.
Hi Mary and Peter! What you said about the little child is so true. My little sister has gastroparesis and she is 3 years old. A lot of people say that kids in the hospital who cry are are annoying. But they are just children. Also congrats on your soon to be nephew!!
I'm SO glad that you are feeling a little better Mary! Congratulations Rachel and Johnathan (and Aunt Mary and Uncle Peter)! Adoption is the best thing that ever happened to us (second only to Jesus)!!! 💗
Congrats Rachel and Jonathan!!! Yay!!! Hey Mary, Peter and Ollie boy!! And congrats to you guys as well! Glad you are doing better! How's Ollie doing since his treatment?
I'm proud to be part of your people any day, Hope you will realize the fruits of your hard work soon ( like putting on weight, more energy to fight off the germs and stuff like that) God bless
Congrats to Rachel and Jonathan! Also I loved Rachel's young life shirt! I'm in college young life and have been able to make so many good Christian friends that I'll have for the rest of my life, I'm so glad I found young life.
Your story and daily triumphs are awesome, thank you for sharing! You help so much with perspective while battling a chronic illness. Fighters unite!! Also, wondering where you get your awesome purple blanket?? Thank you :)
You give me hope, Mary. You're so brave to go through everything especially the feeding tube surgery. I'm going in for my IUD removal this week and I'm so nervous. If Mary can do anything, I can do anything!
My son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 3. The first 3 months he cried the entire time we had to go in for chemo. I would hold him but he was just so scared. As you say, do what you think you can't. Andrew is now almost 12 and cancer free for 4 years!
that's awesome!!! 🙌🙌
Rachel Amato oh my. I couldn't imagine. so happy he's cancer free♡
Rachel Amato Praise God he has been cancer free praying that he stays cancer free God is so good God Bless You and Your family

I was rewatching the vlog and Mary made me augh at 11:03 in the vlog because of her face. That moment made my day already. Thanks for making my day Mary
Congratulations Rachel and Johnathan, Mary and Peter! 💗👣🐾🙏💖
The Girl is looking so much happier today :)
seeing your child in pain and knowing there's nothing you can do is completely soul destroying :( my son is 6 and was diagnosed with cancer in January this year.
I'm Jennifer by the way💁🏻
Mary you are an inspiration to so many people and your perspective on life in general is absolutely amazing !!!! 💖💖
I hope you get better soon Mary! Your husband is so supportive. ❤️
Mary, you look much better today despite the pain - your sparkle is back!
Hahaha!
Aww, Mary!! So good to see you up and stretching!! Continued prayers of healing!! Love to you 3!
Glad to see you moving around. You look so much better. Keep up the good work.
I'm so happy to see you doing a little better every day, Mary. "The Girl" is in my prayers!
Awh!! Congrats Auntie Mary!! ❤❤❤ CONGRATS RACHEL!!!
Lots of prayers for you both🙏🏻 thank you for being you and taking us on your journey 💜💙💚
Congratulations Rachel and Jonathan for the baby!

Hi Mary and Peter! What you said about the little child is so true. My little sister has gastroparesis and she is 3 years old. A lot of people say that kids in the hospital who cry are are annoying. But they are just children. Also congrats on your soon to be nephew!!
You are an amazing human being, you have the best attitude towards life. congrats on the baby

Loving seeing Mary smiley today!
Your story and daily triumphs are awesome, thank you for sharing! You help so much with perspective while battling a chronic illness. Fighters unite!! Also, wondering where you get your awesome purple blanket?? Thank you :)
Congrats Rachel and Jonathan. I love the baby room. That bed in there is such a good idea. Can't wait to meet him/her!
You give me hope, Mary. You're so brave to go through everything especially the feeding tube surgery. I'm going in for my IUD removal this week and I'm so nervous. If Mary can do anything, I can do anything!
Bubba Kush OG IUD removal is way more comfortable than insertion, and super fast. Deep breath. You can do it!
Mich Elle thank you so much. I really really appreciate it!
