Promotion video for Raging Eyes from The Abominable Showman (1983). Rare TV studio setup with cheesy video effects. I love the chord progressions on this one - and the "M16 automatic" move.
Great song. The video is .... adorable. Paul Carrack just taught me something : If you want to draw attention to yourself, wear shoes the same color as your shirt.
Rolling Stone interview of Nick Lowe 2019 and this song comes up bend wow yes I remember I love this song when it came out I have forgotten all about it left my rolling Stone edition
The more I listen to the Basher, the more I dig him. I'm really sorry I missed him last year; he sold out Safari Sam's. This is one of my favorite songs; real power pop stuff. Thanks for posting ths.
Anyone else notice the barkeeper is holding the shaker upside down? Great tune from Nick Lowe. And does anyone think its odd seeing someone else playing bass in a Nick Lowe video?
Lovely tune, really cute retro (but in that day they were modern!) special effects...and a great little tune. Good one! Cool guitars too, and a nifty drum fill 2/3 thru....
@Musical Box Not an expert (I just play my old acoustic), but my guess is that it's a Danelectro. They use to sport that colour. (Nick's guitar might be a Danelectro as well, but let's wait for the experts :) )
@Musical Box Yes, that's right. Now I also found the answer to the guitar questions in a Telecaster forum: Nick is playing a Harmony Bobkat, Martin is playing an Airline guitar (I checked the company website, and the model is called Map).
Saw him play this in '83, opening for Tom Petty. He got pissed the fact that the audience didn't pay any attention to him. Stalked off and didn't even play "Cruel to be Kind"
@DrITunes Not enough record sales, I suppose. But I was just looking through the past inductees and saw quite a few artists whom I'd either never heard of or know for a fact did not sell a lot of records. So I'm afraid it's one of those wrongs that may never be righted.
Great lost classic...never got much play but was an underrated tune.
Eighteen people can't recognize genius. Or, for that matter, happiness...
What a great pop / rock record ... Nick's a legend ! Wayne
I agree!
After 40odd years, never gets fed up with his music...❤
Nick Lowe is sensational..what a legend ..great band..great on solo singing
The Rock and Roll hall of fame sucks! To not even THINK of Nick is so sad.
Love how it says my name from 2:00 onwards
I like all these old 'homemade-ish' videos from Nick, Dave, and the Boys!
I Loved him for years
And this boys and girls....is what adults call rock and roll!
Great song. The video is .... adorable.
Paul Carrack just taught me something : If you want to draw attention to yourself, wear shoes the same color as your shirt.

So very 80's! Love the Wurlitzer and the eye chart set.
Luv this song. I didn't know there was a video
@user-pv8jy1nt8f I rarely had the chance to watch MTV or similar channels back then.

Used to be Johnny Cash's son-in-law. Once married to Carlene Carter of Hiwy 101. A sweet rockin' country band.
The best
Nick Lowe has raging hair.
pure pop ambrosia.
Nice 👍
they really should have hired eye models for this video 👀
Yes, Paul Carrack and Martin Belmont (the Rumour) on lead guitar.
Anyone else notice the barkeeper is holding the shaker upside down? Great tune from Nick Lowe. And does anyone think its odd seeing someone else playing bass in a Nick Lowe video?
LOL
The bartender is Australian....
That would be James Eller.
Thanks for posting.
The Jesus of Cool. Fabulous song. Charming cheesy video. Cool guitars.
Lovely tune, really cute retro (but in that day they were modern!) special effects...and a great little tune. Good one! Cool guitars too, and a nifty drum fill 2/3 thru....

NO ONE SINGS EM LIKE NICK

That sucks! I would have loved to see him.
Good on him, ungrateful bastards.
Petty covered "Cracking Up" in '85, btw.
Is that Paul Carrack?
A full head of grey hair at 34 years of age?
SoulStylistJukeBox but in those glasses though, a three course meal 😋
The Irish often keep a full head of hair, but booze quickly turns it grey, and then, white.
I love the color, glad he never dyed it.
@@Themanwhocameback2 or just the bullshit in life 🐂💩

nothing better
her mama said that even when she was a baby she had raging eyes
yep
that's Paul Carrack
Pop craftsmanshp - and nothing wrong with it.
You know that almost doesn't look like Paul Carrack on keyboards, if it wasn't for the elevator scene Id not noticed
There's a good interview on Marc Maron's WTF podcast.
There's Uncle Phil on keyboard, after he retired from major league baseball ✌️⚾
Eooooyyyyes
:31, hes like, can't talk, must add up figures. Ha!
Any idea what kind of guitar Nick is playing in this one? I recognize the others but not his and the video isn't good enough to read the brand.
Jax Music Supply , Nick is playing an early 'sixties Sears Silvertone, built by Kay of Chicago.
@ 1:31! LOL!!
2:35 = LMAO!!
Is that Paul Carrick on the ellectric piano?
That's what I was about to say. Mike and the Mechanics, Ace, Squeeze- that guy gets around. He's great.
LOL!
at least i got out with curly sorta hair big smile!
I wonder why the bartender is in the video.
Who is the sexy lady in the lift? 😍
Does anyone know who the cute keyboard player is? "Sh-bom, sh-bom"
Paul Carrack - he had a hit with "How Long", and I think it is he singing the lead the lead on Squeeze's "Tempted".
@@Themanwhocameback2 Was also in Ace who recorded How Long (Has This Been Going On), a 1974 UK top 20 hit. He sang lead on that one.
EX wife Carlene Carter has raging eyes.
he looks the same now as he did then. and thats not necessarily a compliment. ha
Could this be the worst video from one of the greasiest musicians ever?¿?
Get a life.
