- Pulling and harvesting the first of the long & stump rooted show carrots this year for my first show.
Not too bad this year considering they didn't look too brilliant as far as the tops were looking.
Managed a couple of reasonable pairs for a small show this weekend
I see that the algorithm has gotten us together again...

Just need non-lumpy soil
Its the seeds they use.
If the soil is soft then the carrot will be narrow and strong. If its lumpy the carrot will look like a chubby woman
The long barrels he used for the long carrots probably had something to do with the size.
Must be the the seeds.🙆

Last year my family and I grew carrots. The dirt was too dense so they didn't grow very large, but I was completely surprised at how much more flavorful they were than store bought carrots. They were sweeter and more aromatic. Store bought will forever be bland and cheap to me. Beautiful yield, man. They must be delicious!
I don't no a thing about carrots but this was extremely pleasant to watch and gain a lil knowledge on thanks for the vid.

Dan, Have you ever tried making a 2 pc planter for those show carrots? Just like a plaster mold, you'd remove the bands to open it so you'd never break a tap root off. You'd have to open and harvest all so maybe a Pvc pipe not a big barrel. Beautiful carrots. Good luck at the show, Elaine

sounds like you need a longer barrel.

I grew/ have some carrots out my back from last years summer time & no joke I understand his love for pulling them out, like if I was pulling ones that size out I’d be like 😍 🥕
Holy Cow 😮!! Where were carrots of that size when I was a kid and having to help can the garden 😂. We would have been done canning the carrots for the year with just the two biggest ones. Congratulations 🎉🎉 on your garden.

Idk how you do that! Of the hundreds of carrot seeds I've sown over the years, I've gotten about 10 carrots out of them, the largest a little bigger than a pencil. Carrots are, by far, the most difficult thing I've ever tried to grow.
