Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. .. Fawlty Towers.... Dad's Army....Only Fools and Horses....Are You Being Served?, the BBC turned out classic comedy shows in the day
I think they may have shot the show straight to tape originally so not sure they could make it HD. If they had filmed on 16/35mm then they could, but unfortunately back then tape took off and they weren't bothered about making shows look any better than what the TV then could handle - quite short sighted I reckon on their part
@@johnb6723if shot on film, the definition could certainly be equivalent to HD quality even in the 70s. But a lot of stuff from this era was shot with video recording cameras, which had a much lower definition.
I literally remember watching this particular episode of some mother's do have em' when I was growing up in England. The computer exploded and everything because of Frank Spencer's carelessness. It was funny then when it originally aired and is still funny now.
A well-remembered episode. George A Cooper plays the new manager at the DSS. He has a track record from his previous office of which he's very proud of getting people into work and thinks he'll be able to do the same for Frank. The reality proves somewhat different.
70 definately the golden age of UK sitcoms. The tripe that is served up today not a patch. But where is the scene where Frank is being assessed by an army doctor and asked to solve a verbal reasoning puzzle : Doctor: You're an F and I'm an H, but then I'm a Herbert (shocked look on Frank's face) - and "what has sally got 2 of, where as larry has just 1?" (appalled and shocked Frank)
It's on now. The very first one. Series 1, episode 1. It's on The That's TV Channel. Channel 56. Twice in the evening. 7.50pm and 1130pm. 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️❤️✝️
This episode, "The Employment Exchange", the indoor studio scenes were filmed just 24 hours before the episode was first broadcast. The reason for it being this close could have been due to the delay in production after the window cleaning scene stunt at the start of the episode went wrong just 19 days prior.
Wasn't sure what you meant but found a quote online that "The window cleaning sequence is harrowing for anyone suffering from vertigo. In the documentary 'To Be Perfectly Frank' it was revealed that the star nearly fell to his death..."
It’s great that Michael Crawford, did all his own stunts, and in that day there were no safety concerns, they wouldn’t allow it in our day and age 😂 bring back the seventies 😂
Can you imagine Frank actually working in a job which involved using computers? Maybe even programming computers? There'd probably be a major system malfunction, world-wide!😁
this is what comedy is all about, priceless
my kind of humor , spot on .
Lol I'll pay for any damage I'll work nights ha ha classic love Frank Spencer
"Ooooooo!" "I'm sorry. Can you remember what was on it?" Absolutely priceless!😄😁😆
I'll get you another cup of tea 😂😂
Hits me hard everytime

Cannot some genius put this into HD... I loved this series, still hasn't dated in my mind.

@@MrJoshyguy It could still look better on the BBC UA-cam though. This looks like the video was filmed with a calculator.
a serie like this cant age and get to old , its timeless .
There was no such thing as HD in those days, just good old 320x240.

It only takes Frank 5 minutes to turn the most intelligent people insane.
Very true😁😄😃
Right😁
This is one of the best scenes of all time....
Along with Michael..Great Actors..Always makes me laugh
This is so unbelievable, like there would’ve been a computer in Runcorn.
R.I.P. George A. Cooper passed away aged 93 today Grange Hill's Mr. Griffith you will be missed
Only just realised he was in grange hill god bless him

We need some laughter in our life being hard enough this year just laugh reduced stress makes you feel good
All that data and machinery can now be stored on a small usb thumb drive.
“I’ll pay for any damage”.
“Three hundred thousand pounds worth”.
“No problem, I have the lead in a broadway musical, that should cover the cost” 😊
wonder what that much was worth back in the seventies 70s
@@ashfrank5372add another zero for a rough estimate
George A. Cooper, a wonderful actor, excellent in Billy Liar and scores of other productions.
one of my best comedies, Frank will never trust for something
Great show.
Groucho! 😂😂😂
A well-remembered episode. George A Cooper plays the new manager at the DSS. He has a track record from his previous office of which he's very proud of getting people into work and thinks he'll be able to do the same for Frank. The reality proves somewhat different.
And he was the caretaker in Grange Hill. (1980s).
" I'll work nights." 😂 Ahhh, Frank!

Il get you another cup of tea 😂
The bloke wearing the dark suit was also in the episode Australia House in '78.😊
Omg... Frank must been curesd when he was a baby! XD
Groucho!!
Because the exploding computer was called HARPO (Harris and Atkins Research Program Oscillator).
1:26 - see Mr Hooper (played by Edward Hardwick) cracks a smile before getting back into character to say “Two years’ worth”
This was the managers fault Mr Hooper was right to speak with the tone he had when Frank had that machine in there
'Groucho!' lol :)

Cost $2m..."I'll work nights"😢😢😢
I .love this show 👌 👏 it's a classic
"I'll work nights" pmsl 😅😅😅😅
George A. Cooper - the ultimate character actor!
It was their fault. Who in their right minds would have allowed Frank Spencer anywhere near that machine?

Oh god I do miss comedy like this ,absolutely priceless 🤣
naww he looks like he's going to cry when he says im sorry hes so cute i just wanna pinch his cheek and go goochy goochy lol
it was like that man had pulled out brown seaweed from the bucket of water haha lol
always backup your data
exactly. so true.
They did- but they didn't have a backup computer.
The backup was in Runcorn!
I wonder if he's paid it off yet? 🤔 😂
It’s great that Michael Crawford, did all his own stunts, and in that day there were no safety concerns, they wouldn’t allow it in our day and age 😂 bring back the seventies 😂
Frank Spencer, the man that always has to say he is sorry...🤪🥴
One of my fave scenes from a comedy series. Gotta love Frank 😂😂😂😂
That’s really old technology!
Love the British commdy tv shows
Runcorn. I don't think that whole town cost £2M.
Im sorry can you remember what was on it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 actually cant breath
A hilarious episode, but I couldn't help imagining how it would have felt if real. It might have made a great horror film.
Tht snd effect is from Dr Who - The War Machines, I swear it is lol. Still it's a fantastic clip lol
at the end he says "get out, get out, you are HIRED!" lol
Please don't reboot this show it was comedy gold
Classic
My fave episode this and classic scene this bit, especially 2:04
So funny!
lol poor frank!
❤❤❤❤❤
My £300k in 1975 works out at over £2 million in today's money 😱
Runcorn,Cheshire?
@wipwipwoo yes I hear but if you listen very good you hear "fired"
The English stuff was so ahead of It's time !
I will work nights☺
Can you imagine Frank actually working in a job which involved using computers? Maybe even programming computers? There'd probably be a major system malfunction, world-wide!😁
This would be funny, but for the fact that Fujitsu probably fired him.
this dudes funny as
If you look carefully, you can see him pull out the mess of tape from under the still intact reel. :-)
Don't make classics like this anymore
The best sit com ever.
Nobody can replace sucha genious man
And his Angel voice singing O HOLY NIGHT????? MY GOD THE BEST VERSION EVER.
Some mothers do ave em
80 was too dont forget only fools & horses!
Bloody funny!
He’s as nutty as a fruit cake🤪
Incredibly primitive looking computer. The sending of data between the two computers here is a portent of things to come.
When he says "can you remember what was on it" - a real meeting of generations, computer tech versus those who have never heard of it.
Don't know why they fired him, free nights of frank
Don't let FRANK SPENCER near your COMPUTER 💥 or WINDOWS 11 making it OBSOLETE will be the least of your worries! 😂
What sort of accent does Frank have in the show?
Groucho!!
@fgfk123 aaah, I hear it now!
no❤️
A.I. early 1970s style.
Haha
CrowdStrike IT department ?
😀
So that’s what happened to Dr. Watson
He will pay for any damage offer his services for nothing and work nights
LOL
Should of moved the bucket frank!!!!!!!!
Why is the Welsh voice so overstated?
lol lol lol lol
The BBC's Gilligan (but way funnier).
British comedy has disappeared in recent yeears.
By order of the Lord High Wokemeister General.
should of sent him to the russains.
