Melissa, you have made the Boss proud. And I'm sure you will always make him proud whenever you do "Born to Run". I mean, that is one of the biggest rock 'n' roll songs of all time.
Melissa never ceases to amaze me. She puts so much passion and energy into every performance. She has always said that Bruce was an influence on her music and how much she admired him. The look on his face says it all. Mutual admiration. LOVE IT.
Melissa Etheridge and Meryl Streep are truly rolemodels to me.. Both of them have helped me so much finding myself and staying true to my own beliefs. Still they inspire me so much. I love you.
After all these years, I'm still blown away by Melissa! I checked out the old video of her with Bruce doing Thunder Road. If you haven't seen it.... Thanks Melissa!
Kenny is Mellancamp's original drummer and played with him for years... that's where he got his notoriety. He has since left Mellancamp and played with Melissa, Fogerty, Smashing Pumpkins and LOADS of studio work. He's a go to guy for lots of singer/songwriters that have great producers looking to record a hit. And he is a gentleman too!
Melissa's just passionate and authentic, a great singer and songwriter herself, giving tribute to the man that influenced all of us, the famous und the unknown. Faces don't lie in these moments, neither his nor hers. What a great moment.
I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to "Born to Run." I have to say I was indeed impressed by Melissa Etheridge's tribute. The deciding factor? TWICE she made the hairs on my arms STAND UP. Kudos.
She tore that place up!!! What an amazing woman. What a rocker. She better be in the R&R hall of fame by 2012!!! She so deserves it. Been at it for over 25 years of showing how it's meant to sound! SpeakTruer
You can tell she is a true fan of the Boss and that this was a big honor for her. Her and the Boss do a great duet back when Melissa did her MTV Unplugged set. If you haven't seen it you should check it out, definitely worth your time. I have to say though, my favorite from this night was Don Henley singing "Shes got a way", absolute perfection.
I know how much Springsteen's music means to Melissa, so this was a brilliant homage to the great man, and what a thrill it must have been for her to do it for him personally. From Bruce's point of view, I wonder how he feels about his fellow artists reproducing his music, it must be a fantasticly humbling experience. God bless Bruce, you deserve every accolafe you get.
I would have wanted to be there. Bruce Springsteen has helped me over shitload of obstacles in my life, and I'm only turning 21. His music is what I can rely always. He's just something so big to me that I cant even describe it really. Some people believe in superheroes, how the fly and wear cool logo on their chests.. have that cape around their neck.. how they have different types of powers. Well, Bruce is a hero to me, with his music I can walk down the street with a smile on my face.
Although I am not a fan of hers, and having watched several of these Bruce KCH performances I can say that out of all of them Melissa was the best. She killed it. Well done.
I've seen her live several times since 1992, and she pretty much always makes the crazy eyes when she sings really vivacious songs (cases in point: Bring Me Some Water, I Really Like You, Your Little Secret, etc.)
Do u no i get a warm feeling everytime i hear or see these guys minds me of my time working in the pits the comadre long live the magnificant seven haha !
MELISSA DID AN AWESOME JOB. I SAW HER 1X IN ATLANTIC CITY NJ. SHE WAS AMAZING. HER AN BRUCE R GOOD FRIENDS. THEY SANG THUNDER RD ONCE IT WAS GREAT . THEY ROCKED IT. THEY DONT MAKE TALENT LIKE THIS ANYMORE. KUDOS. PRES OBAMA U COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A BETTER PERSON 4 THE KENNEDY HONORS. IM FROM JERSEY HES SO LOVED HERE❤❤
Had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Melissa when she played at Manchester Cathedral where I work earlier this year. Sadly I didn't stay for the concert but she was fantastic during the rehearsals and was happy to pose for photos and sign autographs for fans who took advantage of the fact part of the building was open to the public and came in to listen.
Etheridge got a standing ovation from The Boss and The President. If that doesn't tell you this was epic, then there is clearly something wrong with you. Amazing performance, as to be expected from Melissa.
I've been a Springsteen fan since 1975, when I was 15 years old, and I know this wont go down well with some of the faithful, but what I really want to see is Gaga doing Racing in the Street, alone at her piano. For those who cant get past the theatrics or the attitude, skip to 0.30 in this vid and tell me you cant picture her doing Racing: ua-cam.com/video/kP7RQdVZKBY/v-deo.html When she leaves the costumes and the persona behind, Gaga's raw talent shines through. Manhattan might be a long way from Long Branch, NJ stylistically, but I think she would blow minds with that performance. All power to Melissa - I have several of her albums - but I doubt that she'd have the same impact - YMMV.
@mike holton: Yeah! I agree, if there ever was a female rock singer who could sing a Springsteen anthem like this one, Melissa Etheridge IS the girl to do it! She did a great job!
Melissa TOTALLY NAILED IT! One of the top performances in the history of Kennedy Center Honors!
I’d say so. Brings me to tears. She honored Bruce beautifully. So on.
did she get surgery, voice sounds different here
Eh
I never ever get tired of listening to her! DAMN!
Tears of joy, at this, You can't fake that passion and that love for a song. The highway's jammed with broken heroes...
couldn't say it any better and i just turned 59. you gotta lot of fun years ahead....glad you found him early!
Love the look of admiration and pride on his face as Melissa belts it out . A truly remarkable and great rendition of "the Boss Song"
Ho melissa! Il nostro Bruce in gonnella! 😂👩❤️💋👨😂😂😂😍🤩
Bought my first Melissa album in 88, still have it and every other one released as well. Love her.
You have impeccable taste in music.
Wow.....just wow...
Flawless as always. Look @ Bruce, he loves it!!!!
Melissa, you have made the Boss proud. And I'm sure you will always make him proud whenever you do "Born to Run". I mean, that is one of the biggest rock 'n' roll songs of all time.
PLUS HER AN BRUCE R GOOD FRIENDS😊
Melissa never ceases to amaze me. She puts so much passion and energy into every performance. She has always said that Bruce was an influence on her music and how much she admired him. The look on his face says it all. Mutual admiration. LOVE IT.
Melissa Etheridge and Meryl Streep are truly rolemodels to me.. Both of them have helped me so much finding myself and staying true to my own beliefs. Still they inspire me so much. I love you.
She killed it!! I loved the arrangement, and she hit all the high points perfectly. Warms my heart because I know how much he has inspired her, too.
It's great that she was able to do this... she absolutely WORSHIPS Bruce.
Sweet Melissa.! " Baby we were born to run....her music's such a healer❤😎🌹
She was the best choice to perform this tribute. She really sang the hell out of it.
After all these years, I'm still blown away by Melissa! I checked out the old video of her with Bruce doing Thunder Road. If you haven't seen it.... Thanks Melissa!
I love this woman! I love the way she could deliver this song! Out of this world!!!!!!!!!!
Outstanding! Melissa and Bruce were friends long before this. There are some great videos of them singing together.
If there ever is a female rocker who can nail a Bruce Springsteen classic like Born To Run,
Melissa Etheridge is the girl to do it.
Yep - she totally nailed it!
I totally agree

Melissa ALWAYS does amazing covers - so much fun!

OMFG MELISSSA KILLED IT! I felt like crap ALL day, THEN I heard THIS. I'M SO POWERED UP NOW. GOT THAT FIRE BACK IN ME.
Electrifying. And jeez, what a band!
Speechless. Incredible.
THIS IS WHEN AMERICA WAS GREAT!
SHE NAILED IT AND BRUCE WAS IMPRESSED!!!
She can do Bruce's and Janice's biggest hits justice, she is a legend
Amen!! Who else could do Janice or Bruce justice! He looks so proud of her rendition, and he’s The Boss!!
Can’t do this song any better than this!
Melissa is definitely a true believer. I like that about her.
What a rendition. Melissa crushes it

Chris J Chris, Don Henley sang that song for Billy Joel KCH tribute in 2014, but I agree it was a great rendition by Genley
VaBeachVA2010 You are right!
Melissa totally nailed it!! I was worried when she took the mic ... but then she totally came through. You go Girl!!
I know how much Springsteen's music means to Melissa, so this was a brilliant homage to the great man, and what a thrill it must have been for her to do it for him personally. Such an epic performance!!
Melissa rocked the ass out of it 🤘🏼

I love you Melissa! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Rock n Roll!
Melissa can ROCK like no other! Best female rock/blues performer ever!
She's pretty good but I would rank some others like Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, and Janis Joplin above her.
My alltime favourite song ever done brilliantly by Melissa. She knows how to rock! She sounds like Kim Carnes.
Do u no i get a warm feeling everytime i hear or see these guys minds me of my time working in the pits the comadre long live the magnificant seven haha !
She saaaaaang this song! Sang it! Yes!
What a voice❤❤❤❤
excellent choice having Melissa perform this
Melissa killed this.. in a good way!!
Look at Meryl Streep, she's LOVING IT! haha
Streep is a pedophile supporting piece of shit.
Loved it, a marking moment.

Melissa hits that Wall of Sound exactly the way The Boss hears it in his head. Damn good job.
There could have never been a better choice to pay tribute to him.. It was one of those universal things that is so right and so, so good..
One day!❤
Yes♡♡♡
Oh my god. This is like, like, I have goosebumps!!

I LOVE that Meryl Streep loves her some Bruce!

@@gingerprince87 Ricky And The Flash
WOW!! Melissa just looks like she's living her dream!!
Anyone but the late great Clarence Clemons playing the sax in this song does not send the same chills up and down my back!
Born To Run is the ultimate studio masterpiece. Full-band live versions by Bruce have rarely been satisfying. This one may be the best ever
Love watching Milissa Etheridge! Great performer and singing a great Springsteen song too!!!
Etheridge got a standing ovation from The Boss and The President. If that doesn't tell you this was epic, then there is clearly something wrong with you. Amazing performance, as to be expected from Melissa.

Holy crap!! She rocks this!!
Love the tribute to Bruce always the Boss
Melissa definitely has some pipes

Arthur Watts
hell yeah she'd do it justice for sure... Gaga's the real deal underneath all the ridiculous trappings!
I love how much Meryl is enjoying it!!
Nailed it
Fantastic! I only wish she'd done the full version of the song. I want more!
Female Boss! Love the rasp in her voice!
My god, what a great version. Never seen this before, thanks for posting.
Melissa Rocks!!
Did anyone else notice that the person in the audience who was rocking out was FELLOW JERSEY GIRL MERYL STREEP?1
Laani Lola Yeah she later credited Melissa as inspiration for the character she played in Ricky and the flash
I love Jennifer nettles and Mielissa Etheridge doing Bruce Springsteen songs they both rocked it !!!
I think Melissa did a great job!
NO way...Bruce is one of Melissa's biggest influences. She's one of the few artists that can do justice to this song besides the Boss himself.
Only she could handle that much song❤
a splendid remark ... cheers
This is such an awesome performance. If anyone can cover Bruce, it is Melissa.
I couldn't have said it better. Very eloquent statement.
She did a GREAT job!!
+Dennis Cassley yes she did, if ever there was a woman that could belt out a Springsteen anthem she's the chick to do it.
+Dennis Cassley She sure did! Her album "YES I AM" rocks!
+laura Silveria Yes! I agree 110%! She definitely made the boss proud.
@mike holton: Yeah! I agree, if there ever was a female rock singer who could sing a Springsteen anthem like this one, Melissa Etheridge IS the girl to do it! She did a great job!
